Goddamn people, the committee has tried to tell you for 6 weeks the Pac12 champion is in.
Nobody is arguing that. Everyone agrees that the committee was 99% going to select the Pac10. But it's not an absolute. Very likely, yes. But not a 100% guarantee. And that's what's so frustrating arguing with idiots. You are stating with 100% certainly that you know what the committee was going to do and while they likely would have done that, there was a chance. However small. 1 in 100 is still better than 0.

There would have been a discussion and you would have heard all about it from talking heads if we win our game...Should it be Texas or Oregon? And the committee would have heard that as well.

Count the number of times you hear Texas should get in over Washington. It will be 0. And that's because there is no argument.

I'm out. It's a moo point and some people just don't understand math.

It's hilarious trying to argue what will happen with this stupid CFP committee system.

It will be crazy to read Surly if...

Bama wins, FSU loses & Texas gets left out.

I’d go to jail for life for terrorism related activities.

They aren’t going to put a 1 loss team that lost to bama in over a 1 loss team that beat bama.

caution of absolutes applies, but that’s not how this works and they’d have to make a giant deviation, with their rationale having to do with results from previous seasons.

That's your problem. It has nothing to do with math. If Oregon had won a close game, most people would be talking about how both teams deserve to be in just like what will happen if Bama wins a close one. You are hanging your hat on the "math" that Texas should be in but the committee wants nothing to do with math. These two conferences are guaranteed at least one spot each. There wouldn't have been any internal discussion to leave one out. That's in your head, not a reality to bank on. Best to yield these two spots (not more) and hope for upsets in the other two.

Not half as annoying as those who will  show up and say they KNEW Texas would make it and they never actually believed 1-loss Georgia or Ohio State would be in ahead of us. And they were just making an argument / asking questions previously

I agree that the PAC 12 had a spot locked. I disagree that the SEC does, as hard as that may be to believe for some of you. I guess let's see how this day plays out.

Too many people here are underestimating the possibility of Ohio State remaining ahead of UT in the rankings no matter what happens.  It’s certainly possible UT leapfrogs OSU with a win, but it is definitely not a certainty.  The 2023 version of The Big XII isn’t doing us any favors in terms of conference strength and while ranked, a win over Ok. State isn’t worth that much nationally (really needed that OU win).  Yes, Bama on the road is a feather in the cap, but it was early and college football has always had a decency bias.  Would’ve helped if UT had won more Big XII games more convincingly.  My gut is we needed (2), not (1) undefeated ahead of us in the rankings to get into the CFP.

Dumb post is dumb

FSU loses, we're in. Even this Committee Confederacy of Dunces isn't stupid enough to put both Meatchicken and Ohio State in the finals for the second year in a row, especially after they both shit the bed last time.

What is the scenario here you're worried about?

Bama winning and both SEC teams getting in, probably. Dumb thing to be scared of. Better chance of being locked out by 4 undefeated teams than being #5 behind a one-loss non-champ UGA

Yeah it's possible for both to get in, but it would involve Texas losing.

So we're all confident that if Michigan, Florida State, Texas, and Alabama win, Alabama won't leapfrog Texas?

It’s a committee that does things subjectively. No one is confident about anything.

The committee gets weird about Bama knocking off UGA. Bama winning does us no good. Not saying it will happen…. But them winning muddies our waters.

Are you dense or disingenuous? Try addressing what I actually wrote.

Man, I don't know about this. I think the SEC champion is in.

Well if it's Georgia and three other unbeatens then it doesn't matter. If it's Bama then we're in a coin flip situation. I prefer 50% over 0%.

Yoir argument has been addressed a million times. Not my problem if your mom dropped you in the head while doing the mailman.

I feel like the way this is heading... we have four realistic scenarios. Let's assume Michigan and Texas are gonna win.

Scenario 1: Georgia wins and FSU wins.... Texas most likely out

Scenario 2: Georgia wins and FSU loses.... Texas in 100%

Scenario 3: Georgia loses and FSU wins.... Texas and Bama in, FSU out? I feel some momentum shifting this way. A lot of discussion of best teams over most deserving. ESPN is gearing up to fuck FSU.

Scenario 4: Georgia loses and FSU loses.... Texas and Bama in, UGA out

I think Scenario 3 is going to tbe the way the committee goes if Bama and Texas end up head to head.

Assuming we win, anyone rooting for Georgia over Bama is an idiot.

Why SEC champ is in no matter what.  Georgia winning eliminates the debate of leaving out a one loss defending back to back champ?

That is not a true statement. And if that ends up being true, it will be at FSU's expense. Not Texas.

They are not going to put a 1 loss non conference champ in over a one loss conf champ, especially given the fact that they lost to a team we beat in their own crib.
