While they DQ'd Derek Williams for the first half on the targeting-that-wasn't call yesterday.  Yeah, that same conference.

Well they can carry that call to the first game of next season, not in the playoffs, so he's good for us until Aug 2024

I was curious what they were going for right now. Will they go up or down once the teams are decided?

That question will greatly depend on if Texas is in it.  If yes....well prepare your secondary market anus.

FSU got screwed. if they win their bowl, some computer ranking will put them at least tied for #1. They might claim it. Of course, backup QB could lose it.

If they are the only undefeated and the AP votes them no 1 they should claim it. Fuck it. I mean Texas gonna claim it if we win but damn Bama claims shit for titles they should too, we fucking should if it was us.  Bama should be out, Texas and fsu in.

Think the only way that FSU can maybe get to #1 in the AP is with a smooth buttfucking of Georgia and a Bama CFP win.  They were already behind Michigan, Washington and us today.

Unfortunately for my wife she's been married to me since 89 and around me for football since 86, so she's see each end of the spectrum. She was out shopping for new furniture today and I told her to reduce her budget by $1000 because I need to hopefully by a ticket to the championship game in Houston. She said spend what you want, you deserve it for the last 34 years of screaming at the television. No travel involved so hopefully I can snag a ticket for a grand or less. Some ga sap should be looking to unload a ticket or two. I'm sure there's ulterior motives. I'm sure she thinks this is the go ahead to spend what she wants.

You're about to get some expensive ass furniture

You mean like this? I can dig it.

Yep.  Not to flash it up or anything, just to add a touch more of that beautiful burnt orange to the clean whites.

But I am glad we don't have gimmicky uniforms like Oregon and some others.  "We're here to play f'n football."

The ACC is now relegated to less than P5 status, which has been trending. I don’t think fsu gets in even with their qb.

They (ACC & FSU) are now at the same level as the 2017 UCF team

Oh god, here we go, candying up the uniforms again.  Just leave them the way they are, and make sure burnt orange is truly burnt orange.

Nobody said anything about candy.  In fact, I love that we wear simple, clean uniforms and don't trot out a bunch of bullshit like Oregon and the like.  I like the whites and I love the way our burnt orange pops on white.  A stripe is just a touch more of it, that's all.  Like the baseball uniforms - our home whites are the best uni in the game.

I listened to the Georgia radio guys during that game, almost Dave Southesque, so much homerism.

I hope Bama gets smoked. I think FSU got screwed because of the myth of the SEC invincibility.  Besides we should cap off this National Championship with the heads of the PAC 12 and BIg 10 Champions to go along with the head of the SEC Champion that’s already mounted on our wall over the fireplace.  Texas football outlasted both of my wives and I’m sure it will outlast the third.

Outside of the playoffs, this is one of the worst bowl seasons. Too many G5 vs. P5 matchups. Damn, it's bad. I wish they would seed the teams: #21 vs #22, #23 vs #24, etc. Make small adjustments to avoid rematches.

There is just entirely too many bowls. 7 wins should be minimum and they should get rid of like 10-15 bowls then go to 6 win teams if they can’t fill

I don't think FSU got screwed.  You want to make the playoff, do better than 55 yards passing.

Exactly. This proved we were in after we beat OSU. FSU was trash. Committee knew this. Like everyone else

Yeah fsu got screwed. They did all they could do but Holy christ, they are not good. And I'm not saying just without their qb. They held Louisville to 6. Yay. NC state held louisville to 13. The ACC is hot garbage.

It isn't their fault that Clemson and Florida and lsu sucked this year,  but they did. Their SOS absolutely sucked. And anyone that watched them the past 2 weeks knows they get their doors blown off by any team that made it. They were certainly deserving. But they weren't one of the 4 best teams. Just how it is.

Yes, I agree with this. I still think it should be seeded. I don't want to see Oregon vs. Liberty or a top-20 team play a 6/7-win paper tiger that feasted on their cupcake OOC schedule.

The Big 12 has:

West Virginia vs. Mack Brown North Carolina Football

UCF vs. Georgia Tech

Kansas vs. UNLV

Texas Tech vs. Cal

Kansas State vs. NC State

Iowa State vs. Memphis

OU sucks vs. Arizona

Oklahoma State vs. A&M

So we have two (or more depending on how you feel about the ACC and A&M). Is that not normal?

Michigan and Texas would have insane ratings as well.

Texas/Bama matchup may mean a lot of Big 10 country tunes out.

Texas/Michigan attracts everyone. Both Big 10 fans that want to beat the "south" and Big 10 haters/rivals that want to see Mich fail.

Same story the other way. We would get a lot of casual support and casual haters tuning in to see us as well.

I think all four teams are pretty close and expect good games regardless of matchup combinations

aggy would still root for us……to lose…right?

Also what's lost in all this, is the only reason we don't have a 12 team playoff this year is because of that B1G / ACC alliance that was formed after they were pissed Texas and OU joined the SEC.  They voted against it already being in place so they did it to themselves.

All FSU had to do was lie about the extent of QB1s injury.  Sprained knee, probably out a few weeks.  They would be in if the committee thought he would play.  Then  they would get curb stomped in the semis.  They’re probably better off whining about it and playing the victim.

I think the video evidence exposed the extent of his injury from the start

Big 12 always plays one of the more competitive bowls schedules. I'd still like to see Kansas and Iowa State get an opportunity to compete with a P5.

Games like:

LSU vs. Wisconsin (Wisconsin is in a transition year)

So much potential wasted with this Bowl selection process: https://www.actionnetwork.com/ncaaf/college-football-bowl-game-tracker-updated-bowl-matchups-2023?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=BrettMcMurphy

I can't remember the last time I was wrong and this poster is already famous for it.

I've only been wrong once in my life. Around 8 years old, I argued with my dad that there is nobody better to have in a two minute drill to win the game than Elway, and I'm not even sure I was technically wrong.

I’m not going to lie I could see the Big 12 doing good here.   5-3 not bad, need to look at the SEC bowl games.   They might lose more than they win, again like normal the last few years and this year vs every other power 5 conference in out of conference games...   Come on let’s not start sucking that sec bias teet yet.

Shit, Vegas had the Huskies -9.5 last week, so Vegas apparently likes Oregon more than Texas.

My wife has only been married to me when Texas football has been awful. I’m afraid she is in for a rude awakening of what it looks when I am 100% invested. Although the Astros playoff runs are a good corollary.

I got married well after 2005. After we beat Alabama in September, she sensed a disturbance in the force. I’ve been utterly insufferable since 11:20am Sunday.

Jesus with all the fucking PTSD around here. We don’t need someone from the broke ass Big 12 advocating for us. Our play on the field is advocation enough.

Besides, we already won the league. The Big 12 wants us in because then they at least get a check on our way out the door. Plus they’d be able claim a college football title if we won the motherfucker.

In short, take off your fucking tin foil hat and embrace the fact that we’re getting in the motherfucker.

You believe what you want and that's your right to do so.

Doesn't change the fact that I believe they would have loved to see us left out.

We're in so it doesn't matter now fuck them.

I'm high, bro. I can't see shit outside of my screen. I'm behind on OTF YouTube and just heard Ty Smith is out of it via Gerry, which fine. We have better on campus. Sucks Choate is in the Nevada coaching search, but you always want coaches who get gigs off of you as it makes you look better.

Aggies would rather sell their wives to an Eastern European sex trafficking ring than see Texas when a national championship. So to answer your question they would suck that bama dick like they've been doing the last 10 years.

So let me get this straight.

According to the NCAA this is what the 12-team playoff will look like next year: "The new 12-team College Football Playoff field will include the six highest-ranked conference champions, which will receive automatic bids. The six highest-ranked teams remaining will round out the 12-team format."

So, if this was next year after the changes in the SEC and B1G we would need to fill out 6 conference champions. That would obviously include ACC, SEC, and B1G. Oregon State from the Mountain West would be the next highest rated conference champion.  Oklahoma State would be in representing the Big 12 as conference champion, but we still need a sixth conference champion. The next highest ranked one is Liberty. You're now down to 6 at-large positions. Let's assume Michigan and Texas are B1G and SEC champs. That means Washington, Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State would take four of the six slots and you'd have to choose between Oregon, Missouri, Pedo, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma--all two loss teams-- for the last two spots. Meanwhile, Oregon State, Oklahoma State, and Liberty belong nowhere near a playoff and the first round pairings will be subject to conspiracy theories galore. This will be a clusterfuck going forward.

On the other hand, as long as Texas is Top 6, we either get a bye or high odds for a cupcake first round.

It’s college football. What did you expect?

yeah it’s dumb, but anyone expecting we’ll just get the top 12 best/highest ranked teams hasn’t been watching this sport for the past….100+ years.

(I also would like to understand what clauses are written in to define “conferences”. Certainly there has to be a mechanism to revisit that “top 6” rule when the vast majority of the top 50 teams in any given year are consolidated in 2-3 conferences.

*more than 15 yards downfield. He had done nothing but complete WR screens and throw passes wildly off target up to that point, then once I hit submit reply he turned into Dan Marino.
