Congratulations, Bert! Well deserved! Hook Em, bud! 🤘 You are now in the pantheon with Tucker, Dawson, and Dickson.

Well dressed lad waiting to get that muff after he nails another game winner.

Bert Auburn could be an All-American candidate in the 2024 season

After the 2023 season, T’Vondre Sweat was named a Unanimous All-American. The year before running back Bijan Robinson was named the lone Unanimous All-American for the Texas Longhorns. Offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., wide receiver Xavier Worthy, and defensive tackle Byron Murphy II were also named All-Americans but didn’t earn Unanimous honors.

Looking at the 2024 roster, there is a plethora of talent that could be on the radar as All-Americans including offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., quarterback Quinn Ewers, wide receiver Isaiah Bond, and edge Trey Moore among others.

On Tuesday, Pro Football Focus released their way-too-early All-American team with just one Texas Longhorn making the list.

Auburn has been a weapon for the Longhorns over the last couple of seasons. The kicker could be among All-American status for Texas in 2024, along with being a candidate for the Lou Groza Award.

What PFF Says…

Auburn has made plenty of big kicks in his career. He was a perfect 56-of-56 on extra points a season ago and missed only six field goals out of 35 attempts. His 90.5 field-goal grade is a top-10 mark among returning kickers.

Now off to the SEC, Texas is surely going to be in many close games with massive implications in 2024. Auburn will be an asset.

WTF happened to this guy?!

I think everyone is wondering that. Odds are good that we will need a big kick at some point this year. If that kick is from beyond 40, I’m not confident that Bert is gonna come through.

He barely made the 28 yarder.

Been missing more from right hash...

Hopefully Coach Banks and Sark figure this out -- might even make sure more attempts come from the left hash.

C'mon Bert !!! 🤘

That's what he needed to tie the game to force OT.

Made 4 out of 5 in his realistic range. Would have been 5/5 if we didn’t have a 5th string WR false starting on kick block duty. There are a lot worse kicking performances across CFB on a weekly basis.

The offense deserves a lot more blame than him for us attempting 6 field goals.

He's been amazingly mediocre all year.

Problem is we are still gonna need him to make it through the playoffs.

Get your fucking shit together, Bert.

gagreed. Do I wish we had Michigan’s kicker? For sure.

Do I wish we didn’t trip over our dicks any time we got inside Georgia’s 30 yard line for 8+ quarters this year? 💯

Do we have a 2nd string kicker? If we do, why is he wasting a scholarship if he can’t unseat one of the worst kickers in Texas history?

Yes.  He does kickoffs because he can kick it farther than Auburn.  But he hooks it too.  Our ST need a complete revamp.  They cost us an SEC championship.

ATLANTA -- Bert Auburn stands alone at the top in the history of Texas Longhorns kickers.

With a 41-yard field goal in the first quarter of Saturday's SEC Championship against the Georgia Bulldogs in Atlanta, Auburn became the program's all-time leader in field goals made with 61. This new record is certainly impressive when considering the talented kickers Texas has had over the years, highlighted by Justin Tucker, Cameron Dicker and Hunter Lawrence.

Auburn is now 61 of 77 on career field goals, which was highlighted by a career-long of 54 yards in the win over Texas Tech in 2023. He's also made all 168 extra points he's attempted. Additionally, he caught a one-yard pass in the win over Houston last season.

Auburn, who was originally a member of the 2021 recruiting class. Now in his fourth year at Texas, he's played in some big games and has been called upon in clutch moments. However, he's struggled a bit during the 2024 campaign.

Auburn was 10 of 15 on field goals entering the SEC Championship, which has been low-lighted by some poor misses that ended up way off the mark. Fortunately, with the way most of Texas' games have gone leading up into the postseason, Auburn hasn't been asked to make any clutch kicks. As a result, some of his struggles haven't taken center stage.

Fans on social media have brought up the idea that kickoff specialist Will Stone should be given a chance to attempt place kicking, but Auburn has remained the guy for head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Good for Auburn but should be noted that it's not good that Auburn has made the most FG's in history with that percentage and that most of them are under 45 yards.

Which is exactly why it was essential not to go backwards immediately before each of his kicks.    if his skill set is his skill set, then you game plan around his deficiencies.   Making each of the two kicks longer than they should’ve been is less on the kicker (who is not known as a good long distance kicker), than it is on the play calling and execution on the previous playsthat went backwards and reduced his chances of success.

Imo.
