Forestier comes to Golden Lions Nation from the University of Houston where he spent the last two years as the Special Teams Analyst and helped the Cougars finished as one of the top special team units in the Big 12 conference. He has ten years of coaching experience in the Southland, SEC, AAC, and Big XII Conferences while working in a special team position.

During his stint at the University of Houston, Forestier was responsible for coaching the specialist daily and assisting in game planning and the routine operations of the Special Teams Units. Under his guidance, the 2023 University of Houston's Special Teams tied for 10th in NCAA in blocked Kicks and was 2nd in Big 12 with 3 Blocked Kicks. Kick-Off Return Specialist Matthew Golden scored the most touchdowns with 2 KOR and had a 35.7 KOR average, 1st in the Big 12 conference. Punt Returner Malik Fleming averaged 7.2 yards per Punt Return attempt, which ranked him seventh in the Big 12.

During the 2022 season, Forestiers served as a coach at the University of Houston. The Houston Punt returners ranked 1st in the AAC conference standings, with an average of 14.3 yards per return. The Kick returners also performed well and secured the 3rd position in the AAC conference. They even managed to tie for 1st in KOR for Touchdowns. Jayce Rodgers, with an average of 25.7 yards, ranked 2nd in AAC in KOR. The Cougar Punt Returners were at the top of the list with a 15 yards per attempt average in the ACC, while Return Specialist Tank Dell (3rd Round NFL draft Pick of the Houston Texans) was 1st in the NCAA and ACC with a 17 yards per return average and 1 PR for a touchdown. After the 2022 Season, Houston participated in the Radiance Independence Bowl.

Before coming to Houston, Forestier spent six years at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he was a part of the 2019 Undefeated National Championship team and five post-season Bowl games: the 2016 & 2017 Citrus Bowls, the 2018 Fiesta Bowl, and the 2019 CFP Semi-Final Game (Peach Bowl). After retiring Legendary Special Teams Coordinator and mentor Greg McMahon, Forestier was given the responsibility of being the Interim Special Teams Coordinator for the 2022 Texas Bowl.

Forestier began as a Special Teams assistant in the 2016 Season, working for Special Teams Coordinator Bradley Dale Peveto. During his tenure at LSU, two specialists were drafted to the NFL (Blake Ferguson—Miami & Cade York—Cleveland). Cole Tracy placed second for the Groza Award and KO Punt Specialist Avery Atkins was awarded the number 18 at LSU, becoming the first specialist to wear the Captain's number.

Forestier has had a diverse work experience in the field of sports. Prior to his time at Louisiana State University, he worked as a graduate assistant at Northwestern State. During his tenure there, he was responsible for working with the Special Teams and Linebackers under the guidance of ST coordinator August Mangin during the 2014-15 seasons.

Forestier graduated from Louisiana State University, where he studied Sports Administration and received minors in coaching, business, and HRE. While studying at LSU, he also worked as a student equipment manager for the Tigers football team for three seasons. In his final year, he served as a head co-manager, supervising the equipment staff. During his time there, he was assigned to tight ends in his first season and special teams for his last two seasons. Furthermore, he worked for LSU's player personnel department during the summer before joining Northwestern State.

Forestier attended Catholic High School in Baton Rouge from 2005-2009, where he played as a linebacker and fullback. He is the son of Craig and Pam Forestier.

from that football scoop article:

Quote

Texas is expected to hire Arkansas-Pine Bluff special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Chris Forestier to its support staff, sources told FootballScoop on Friday. He will be a special assistant to the head coach, similar to the role Joe DeCamillis filled last season, sources said.

Opens up guys who can coach but can't recruit as well to play a more significant role in player development.  I think its a win for teams and players... at least the ones that can afford it.

This is going to be great for summer workouts during limited coach time

Even the poors are for it, because they can develop the guys to replace the guy when they leave for P5 OC/DC promotions.

Outstanding hire! He’s a Craig Bohl guy. I am very interested to see what he and Nansen will add to the PK scheme. It also doesn’t hurt that he knows the Michigan offense quite well.

Was Kleimans DC at K-State before going to MSU.

This is stupid as all get out.  How the hell do you think the poors can afford to pay extra coaches in waiting?

Do you think all coaches make high 6 figures and start at the highest levels of college football?

Do you think G5 programs have extra cash just sitting around?  The vast majority run at a deficit and the changes of the last couple of years have only made that worse.  Total Cost of Attendance, adding coaching/recruiting support staff and social media staff to try and keep up w/ the P5, NIL (I'm aware the schools don't technically pay for NIL, but the donors do, and they are the same pockets getting hit up for these additional costs) have put the screws to the schools y'all pay to beat up on opening weekend.

It's mighty Texas of you, with that gigantic budget you have, to think that additional costs benefit the poors.  Anything that costs money is a negative to the have nots.  Texas, and maybe a dozen other powerhouses, literally print money and don't worry about the cost of literally anything.  The rest of college football has a stroke every time something like this gets approved because the gap just widens.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5627267/2024/07/09/adrian-wilson-cardinals-panthers-domestic-violence-arrest/

I guess this means he's not going to be replacing Brandon Harris?

Spoiler

Adrian Wilson, ex-Cardinals star and Panthers exec, arrested on domestic violence charges

Former Carolina Panthers vice president of player personnel and Arizona Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson was arrested on three domestic violence-related charges in Scottsdale, Ariz., during the early-morning hours of June 1, according to a spokesperson from the Scottsdale Police Department and court records.

The Panthers confirmed on Sunday that the 44-year-old Wilson was no longer employed by the team, but would not comment further.

Just after 6 a.m. on June 1, Wilson was arrested at his home and charged with assault, criminal damage and disorderly conduct, a Scottsdale police spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday. All three charges are misdemeanors. Wilson’s next court date is a case management conference on July 16, according to online court records. Wilson did not immediately respond to a voice message left on his phone.

Wilson spent his entire 12-year NFL playing career with the Cardinals. He made five Pro Bowls and was a 2009 All-Pro selection. In 2015, he became the 15th member of the Cardinals Ring of Honor. He joined the Panthers in February 2023 after eight seasons in a variety of roles with Arizona’s scouting department. He served as the Cardinals’ co-interim general manager at the end of the 2022 season after Steve Keim took an indefinite leave of absence.

Wilson was born in High Point, N.C., where he played high school football before going on to star at N.C. State. He was the Cardinals’ third-round pick in 2001.

Asked whether the Panthers knew about the arrest, a spokesperson referred The Athletic to the team’s initial statement, released on Sunday: “Adrian Wilson will not continue in his position as Vice President of Player Personnel for the Carolina Panthers. Consistent with our organizational policy on employee matters, we will have no further comment.”

Maybe we can do a 2 for 1 immunity special with Chris Beard?

I don't follow him. Is he always this shitty about all things Texas? I mean, you know, uhhh, some writers are that way, and it would explain - although not excuse - this behavior.

In his defense he's the only person in history who wanted to get laid at a decent wedding but failed to do so.

So there's the bitterness

Jesus Christ. That room temperature IQ tard brings up the monkey thing in literally anything involving Banks. It's like he has it ready to go. Take a look at anything he's written about the program and you'll see a pattern. He's a total moron.

It's like he wants people's attention and does get,but keeps trying over and over and over in hopes someone will talk about it or re-tweet it. He's been trying since 2021, and no one cares. But he's too dense to realize it.

Sort of random, but seeing this tweet reminded me of something Gerry said in an OTF video towards the beginning of fall camp. Said people called Derron Gatewood (OL analyst) a "riser" in the coaching ranks.
