The late Anthony Bourdain had a few thoughts on the man:

Quote

Once you’ve been to Cambodia, you’ll never stop wanting to beat Henry Kissinger to death with your bare hands. You will never again be able to open a newspaper and read about that treacherous, prevaricating, murderous scumbag sitting down for a nice chat with Charlie Rose or attending some black-tie affair for a new glossy magazine without choking. Witness what Henry did in Cambodia—the fruits of his genius for statesmanship—and you will never understand why he’s not sitting in the dock at The Hague next to Milošević.

Was reading about this and this quote rang true:

Still others have argued that Kissinger was, in the words of New Yorker essayist Thomas Meaney, “a far less remarkable figure than his supporters, his critics — and he himself — believed.” Rather than an outlier, Meaney and others have suggested, Kissinger was a consummate political actor and a natural product of the American war machine, . . .

If it wasn't Kissenger it would have been someone else or elses.

Yeah, but it wasn't someone else. It was him. And him being dead is worth celebrating. Fuck that fecund pustule of a human. One of our worst.

That awkward moment when they announce at an American Enterprise Institute dinner than Henry Kissinger has died and somebody giggles.

What made Kissinger unique were his political talents that allowed him to be that guy across administrations of both parties. Others may have made many of the same lethal decisions that he did, but he worked his ass off to make sure he could stay the person who got to decide which civilians to bomb when.

Basically, he was the ultimate boomer at heart long before we would come to understand how selfish and destructive the actual boomers would be.

Doesn't quite balance out Rose Carter dying, but it's a good start, and we're only on Wednesday.

A horrific person who brought so much harm to so many folks around the world is gone. Goodbye and good riddance. The world needs far less people like him and so many more like Mrs. Carter.
