Checo made it to sq2 at least lol

They should tell him to fuck off and drop Lawson in at this point.

The answer to all of this, as it is with most things in F1, is to go retro in track construction. If there's gravel there instead of pavement, neither one of them will go off, and if they do, their races are impacted negatively at best.

And the best summary of that incident I've seen, is this one, from a Motorsport Mayhem poster:

Sorry, I just finished the USGP today and I don't know how to fully quote this post, but the missing portion refers to how Max was "driving the rule book" and not the track.

You could hear this exact sentiment in his voice immediately after the incident - just completely dismissive and nonchalant and self-satisfied about how the pass eventually happened.

Fucking turd.

Edit - gloating and tattling also describe his tone.

Watching the Sprint right now. Solid effort by Aston, 18th & 19th with only the broken car of Hulkenberg behind them.

What a fucking joke they have become. It’s embarrassing.

Perez, too. What a complete meltdown.

What’s happened to Aston? Iirc, they started the year pretty well.

Perhaps their cars should have been faster if they wanted to be in the conversation but, that’s typical of fan reaction.

I mean, can you disagree? PIA has the sprint won in a Max last year drives off into the distance kind of race if he didn't have to slow down to first give Lando DRS - and no way he gets out clean with max and Charles on his tail for like half the race. - then give up his place.

I disagree completely.  There is a long history of teams swapping drivers for points.  That account is just salty because their boys sucked today.

Like Mittens said, there is a long history of place-swapping. I’m not for it, or against it, though I understand it well.

Ferrari has to handle its own issues and not worry about other teams.

Race might be pretty boring if it doesn’t rain.  The top 4 had hell passing each other.  Max was quite a bit faster than Leclerc and it took him 20 laps to get around him.

Lulz.  Red Bull "suspecting other teams of cheating" is like Jackie $herrill "suspecting other college football teams of paying players!"

If anyone sees updated TV times for qualifying, please post.

5:30am CST. Also remember that DST ends tonight, so it’s actually at 4:30. Brazil apparently doesn’t do DST, so that should be correct.

I got up to watch qualifying. It's amazing how those guys drive on wet glass the way they do without all of them crashing.

My takeaway? They have got to review the tires if this isn't a situation where people need full wets, one doesn't exist.

Well, that was an adventure!  I DVR'd every ESPN show on between 4-6am and still missed the end of Q w/ all the red flags.

Max was PRESSED over the red flag that caught him out.  How epic will it be if the WDC comes down to Abu Dhabi?  And if it came down to a final lap restart where he got fucked this time?  I would explode in schadenfreude.

I am FIRED up for the start - there will be CARNAGE.  Yuki, Esteban and Liam all in the 1st 3 rows?  In the wet?!?!

Is this normal? I thought they typically moved folks up so there weren't clear openings on the grid unless something went wrong in formation lap

Race is about to start and Stroll spins out on the formation lap. He sucks so badly. So, so badly. He spun out and then put the car into the gravel! Moron! Expensive hobby, Daddy.

It’s on ESPNU

If Norris gets a penalty for the confusion after Stroll's fuckery, holy shit.

Yeah, I don’t think that would be right. There needs to be, very quickly, directives over the radios. Even if it is just telling them to stay put.

I’m not going to sit around for the start. I’m going to get firewood and have set the DVR.

I love races with conditions like this. Ever-changing track conditions, different tire strategies, plenty of situations which cause changes in order and gaps.
