Is the area, say within a 1 mile radius of the Superdome ,“safe” for walking?

Debateable tbh. For the game, there’ll probably be tons of security and police. You’ll probably be fine but don’t surprised if you hear of a few fans getting jumped or pick pocketed

On gameday this would be absurd. Stay with the crowd and zip your shit

Driving. Booked rooms. Bringing kids. Oof. Pasadena would have been better for that, but at least no airfare.

Now just need to see if I get an allotment or not. Anyone have a sense of what Loyalty Point rang the allotment will run out?

I've never felt unsafe in or around the Quarter.  But maybe that's just me.  As long as you aren't hanging out in the 9th Ward or something, you should be fine.

I never felt unsafe in the French quarter until I did. Only takes one incident.

I would have zero apprehensions around the stadium on game day.

Yep and guard your phone.

Booked the hotel, got reservations for Luke,  and will be not so patiently waiting for my tickets to come!

My brother and I want to go! Sadly his wife is a UW fan so she wants to go too but I say we just make it a bros trip.

I’m willing to take one for the team and escort his wife* to the game so you and he can bro up.

* pending pics and final approval.

For the Sugar Bowl vs. UGA the walk to the stadium was an absolute blast. Jazz bands marching throngs of fans from Bourbon to the game. Zero safety concerns.

We were walking and talking to this guy from Europe who was with Georgia fans he met at his hostel. They were all singing some kind of Georgia songs. Europe guy asks me why he hasn’t heard anybody singing Texas songs. I told him he will be hearing them after the game.

The Georgia fans beforehand were incredibly cocky and thinking it was going to be a cakewalk.

This. I have never interacted with a more over confident fanbase than Georgia in '18.

Is there a way to get tickets through Texas Exes for this as a lifetime member? If so what's the process? I've never used them for tickets before

Not unless you have a time machine and go back about 35 years…

And never been such a satisfying night after the game in the French Quarter seeing the few Dawg fans walking around in a daze.

Ok serious question I’m not going to go through the effort of organizing something for less than 500 people showing up this time because everyone is just gonna do their own thing then go to the game. There’s nothing wrong with that but I’m investing a significant amount of time already in this and I’m getting a pretty mixed response.

If there is a full game day experience package I can put together that includes food and beverage from 11AM to 5PM and either transport or a second line to take everyone to the stadium. Would people be in for $150 per person? This will include a donation to TOF or Burnt Ends your choice. This will include live appearances by Bobby Burton and the On Texas Football live show guests, likely some former players and coaches etc and of course a place full of longhorns.

Stupid question, but by ‘with beverage’ does this mean ‘alcohol’, similar to Bama? If so I’d be down for 2@$150 each

Yes. I figure if we want a bar with their tvs and facilities it’s gonna be a per person minimum that I guarantee or it’ll be a pretty penny. We can try to find an event space that will let us bring our own booze and hire our own bartenders and we can rent projectors and screens and all that but I’m not gonna organize all that unless we have the turnout. I want to enjoy the day as much as possible instead of being in a mad scramble like I have been all season.

Just crossed the finish line at Indian wells 70.3 to see 1000 texts.  Number 3 mother fuckers.  How’s my ass taste FSU?

After 70.3 miles I am guessing.... not that good?

I'd recommend leaving in the morning and getting through Baton Rouge as early in the day as possible. That's where where traffic can go awry and add 2 hours to your trip.

Or just fly into Lakefront.

Better yet just take Hwy 90 through Lafayette and avoid BR all together. GPS will tell you it adds a little time but you will make up for it not having to fuck with BR/Atchafalaya bridge traffic and police.

I got to Erin Rose late last time and just missed you guys.  Probably wouldn't do an all afternoon event, but if there's a bar meet up like that, I'm definitely stopping by on time this year.

As luck would have it, a friend is having his 40th in NO the 29-31. I won’t be there for the game, but I am looking forward to seeing a metric fuckton of burnt orange.

I'm still so ridiculously, unbelievably happy. What a release. I was at the rose bowl the night Colt went down. I saw Texas decline over the course of one game right before my eyes. It was my final Texas game as a student. I can't believe we're finally back to playing real post-season football. What an awful desert we crossed. I am so happy we have Sark and Quinn. Texas football lifts me up so much.

My flight back to Fargo from LAX was surrounded by Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Montgomery, mobile gates. That was a fun site after a late night out on the 3rd street promenade.
