As a UK fan I want to highlight this post. There was a time when UK had George Blanda playing and Bear Bryant coaching. I was born too late and watched many terrible UK football teams play.

Crazy that his career FG% was just under 53% and he was employed as a kicker for 26 years. That position has come a long ways since his playing days.

A couple of years ago, I presented at a conference in Lexington. At the happy hour, I started to talking to some of the participants and one of them told me that their dad was a war hero who graduated from UK in 1949. He had enough money to buy either season football or basketball tickets, but not enough for both. In the participant's words, "He chose football. I have been paying for that choice my whole life."
