Heading to the Jesuit/Kingwood game tonight in Tomball.

Gonna see what John Hebert is all about.

Insane stats 3365 rushing, 39 TD's ...against 6A competition...4 300 yd games, season low of 151 (on 10 carries in a 45-0 win)

Kingwood wins 27-16 and advances to face Summer Creek.

Kingwood did a great job slowing down John Hebert and the Jesuit rushing attack.  He probably still ended up with over 100 yds rushing, but could never really get it going.  QB for Jesuit was bad. Had a chance to tie at 21 in the 4th, but threw a pick and D couldn't get off the field.  Kingwood converted a 3rd and 19 and another 3rd and 10 on the same drive.  Also ran a fake punt that the entire stadium knew was coming...well except the kids on the field.

That’s still unreal to me that a school like Jesuit can play a public school and lose. They could freely amass a all-star roster every year if they wanted. I’ve heard it said in the past that it’s because they still put academics above athletics even for the athletes.

You say that like it's a bad thing

It’s a good thing and how (all?) schools should be run in a perfect world. I know here in SA Central Catholic and Antonian are run that way. If you want to play sports there you better take school very serious.

Here is a summary of Westlake's game yesterday vs Buda Johnson:

In the small, humble town of Westlake, Texas, the beloved Chaps football team isn't much to look at: undersized, outgunned, and out of luck. Led by Coach "Rusty" Fields (a former Westlake star turned history teacher) and their heart-on-his-sleeve quarterback, Jesse Parker, they’ve endured season after season of losses and laughter from powerhouse schools nearby. But when fate pitted them against the rich, flashy juggernaut of Buda Johnson High School—home of shiny helmets, shiny egos, and shinier bank accounts—the odds were never been more stacked against them.

Why? Because the villainous Coach Banks of Buda Johnson owns the town’s largest luxury car dealership—and the referees just so happen to work there. With his highly-recruited son, Connor Banks, at quarterback and a grudge against anyone not driving a luxury SUV, Coach Banks isn’t leaving this one to chance. He cornered the referees and threatened to fire them unless they "made sure" Westlake didn’t stand a chance.

Game day arrived. The stands were packed, and the ref's whistles mysteriously seemed to favor the wrong team. With strange penalty after penalty, bad call after bad call, the poor, lovable Westlake boys struggled. But with every dirty trick, they rallied around each other, fueled by heart, grit, and their community’s cheers. Connor Bank's beautiful cheerleader girlfriend, Hannah Mays, had found herself attracted to Jessie, although her parents preferred her star QB boyfriend, and expected her to follow him to the big state university where she would major in Housewife Studies. But something about Jessie's quiet support of her dream to be the town doctor made her slowly fall for him.

Down by six with just seconds left and no hope in sight, Westlake found itself at the 50-yard line, desperate for a miracle. Jesse stepped up, battered but not broken, and launched a Hail Mary pass toward the end zone. The ball soared through the night sky in slow motion, passing the bright stadium lights—and into the hands of the shortest, scrappiest player on the field, little Rudy Martinez, who juked past the hulking defenders and dived into the end zone as time expires!

Somehow, Westlake had won! The Buda coach screamed for offensive pass interference, but the refs, finally finding their pride, simply turned their back to him. The crowd stormed the field, and the mighty underdogs reminded everyone: you don't need money to have heart. And as Hannah kissed Jessie on the 50-yard line, both Coach Banks and Hannah's parents screamed in anger. But surprisingly, as chastened QB Connor walked over and shook hands with Jessie, the whole town, now unable to hold back the tears that flowed freely,  learned a good lesson about humility and respect.

I get what you're saying, but yeah...that's not how the school operates. It's not IMG, lol

I actually have the opposite feeling of your first sentence.  I'm shocked they can even compete in 6A.
