how big of a deal physically is it going from grass to clay? she'll be done in london by the second week of july.  the olympics start on the 22nd? 24th? is there really an injury risk there?

For Emma, walking & breathing appears to be an injury risk.

Aryna is the real surprising one, but she obviously wants that USO title more than Gold.

Aryna turned down an opportunity to represent her country for the first time in 2 years. It is odd that you can represent Belarus in the Olympics but not the ATP/WTA

I wonder if the tournament being on clay has anything that I do with it.

The best you can do is stand on the podium as the Polish anthem is played.

Certainly ain’t mad at the Keys-for-Emma switch.

Men’s Top 4:

Taylor Fritz

Tommy Paul

Ben Shelton

Korda or Tiafoe*

*depending on position the Monday after the French Open Final.

Korda OR Tiafoe, but not both

My guess is that these opt outs are due to:

1) The Surface

2) No Prize Money

3) Losing Out On REST/RANKINGS POINTS.

With Da’ Bitches, everyone is playing for Silver & Bronze, unless you meet up with Iga before the Semis.

I was hoping that Navarro would edge out Keys, but Madison had a very solid clay court season. Maybe she has played the Olympics before, but this is his last chance to play them. She won’t make the 2028 LA roster.

I think that you won’t see any American opt outs four years from now.

Elena quit yet-a-fucking-gain.

Goddamnit.

Was there a rain delay?

I was thinking that she might have just thought…

“I don’t feel like waiting for this rain delay and the fucked up schedule that will follow.

I’m out of here and will start again next week on a normal schedule.”

But I don’t know anything about it.

JPeg up a set & 3-1 in the second breaker on Coco, winner gets Kalinskaya for the Berlin crown. Weather looks fine.

Putintseva v. Tomljanovic in Birmingham, Ajla looking for her maiden title.

Coco came back this morning to play 5 whole points.
WHAT A BUMMER!

Then Pegula pegged Kalinskaya in a 3rd set tie-breaker to win the trophy, but Kalinskaya looked delicious, so she was a winner too.  This would have been Kalinskaya’sbfirst title ever on the WTA tour.

Curiously, this is only Pegula’s 5th title ever. For someone who has been #3 in the world, I kind of thought that she would have more titles.

World #1 Jannik Sinner agrees. He's smashing that

Dart/Boulter/Raducanu all slaughtered today.

Siniakova & Muchova withdrew, Caro quit against Navarro.

It would suck to be a tournament director for a tournament held the week before a major and watch players quit in the quarterfinals because they feel like they’ve gotten what they needed out of the tournament.

Whatever works for your first title.

It’s about time a Russian ruled in Romania!

It’s literally been since before she was born that there was a Russian backed Romanian dictator ruling in Romania, unless the old ways are back.

Anna Kournikova has a Grand Slam doubles title to go along with other doubles titles, but she never won a single WTA singles title, so winning in a retirement is better than nothing.

Amanda up a set & break on Sloane now. Weather pushed everything back, so plenty of good seats still available.

Amanda wins but that was some ugly tennis by both players. They played at a level worse than what you see at an ITF
