I've done the drive several times and have resorted to taking US 90 south from Lafayette through Morgan City once when it looked like Baton Rouge was all backed up. It's a fairly stress-free way to go, and if you don't mind taking about 20 more miles than the normal way, I'd recommend looking into it.

Does it save time or is that at least you aren’t sitting in traffic?

You left out one important detail which is stop in Lafayette and buy a Sammich at

https://www.oldetymegrocery.com/#/

And 4 abitas.  That should keep you full and hydrated until you get to the quarter.

Acceptable Sammiches are any kind of seafood poboy, the special or the meatball.  I don’t recommend eating the meatball in your car.  Eat it in a friend’s.

It saved time when I did it because the delay getting through BR was so bad on that occasion. Normally, I'd say it wouldn't save time but it would save sanity by not sitting in traffic on an elevated freeway/bridge where there's nowhere to go. It's just a leisurely drive where you won't get stuck or likely won't see any speed traps.

I will say there are some deep-in-the-swamp sections that are a little creepy (water on each side of the road but very little traffic). Just check it out in advance as an option. It's really not bad as far as detours go.

Y'all drive safely, have a blast, and get home safe with a win!

Cool! Yeah, I didn't stop because I hadn't planned ahead to go that way. I think I did it when there was some shit going on in BR, and Google was showing something like an hour delay for whatever reason. This was a few years ago, but I remember it being a nice change of scenery from the grind of I-10.

Big blessings to @immamac for the party planning as that was some work and same for all you degenerates who are living the good life in NOLA for the weekend. Enjoy and make memories and soak it all up. Rooting for the win; nice to see it come together for the team, the staff, and the fans.

Anyone wanna meet around midnight for a drink and food? I haven’t eaten all day and I want to get dinner and about 6 beers before 2. Long Sunday and Monday ahead of me.

It’s a trap!

I won’t be there until tomorrow or I’d be down.

Only 6? Not sure that low of a number is legal in the big easy.

In 2 hours. I think that’s respectable.

Where’s a good halfwayish stop between AUS and NOLA? Was thinking Lake Charles but anything there worth eating aside from at the casino? We want quick but not drive thru.

I once at at the Dairy Queen in Lake Charles during a manhunt. We witnessed an African American male being dragged out of the treeline by Louisiana State Police.

Would not recommend.

We checked in last night at Pere Marquette. Ready to tear up Bourbon St tonight with my 6 and 10 year old in tow.  Which means should  be done and asleep around 6:30 after DW Fins dinner.   Hook ‘Em!
