the Colorado river basin doesn't go but a few miles east of 183. So it's already now halfway Lampasas / Brazos. But it will take some time for the creeks to run on down past the gauge in Bend. I was up in Mullin last night and it was all very green and moist. Should be good for a lot of runoff.

I don't think I've ever seen a storm with that many sustained lightning strikes.

Waco is about to get some Electroshock Therapy.

So I was estimating earlier just by how hard it was raining, but the nearest wunderground station is showing 3 inches in right at an hour.   Every little creek around here is a damn river right now.   Apparently traffic on I-35 had to completely stop because it was raining too hard to see the car in front of you

Temple got blasted

Yeah, we got pretty lucky in our area.  That cell was headed right for us, then began to get stronger and stronger and veered SE (as is typical) right as it was hitting the McLennan/Bell county lines.   We got lucky with the 3 inches of rain in 40 minutes.

We drove over the Inks lake bridge on 29 in December of 1991. Buchanan had almost all of their gates open. The bridge was literally shaking. Let's do that again.

They've built a new bridge since then.

Is there such a thing as Cat 6?
If not, there will be.

There's discussions of updating the Safran-Simpson scale because hurricanes have intensified so much. 100-year storms are now common place, it seems

Also I don't remember driving over the bridge with @ftf82 on 12/29/1991.

We did. And then stopped at Storms in Burnet for a burger!

Footage recorded by Nathan and Nicole Cross.

Were they both holding the phone?

Yeah, she was recording vertically. Clearly he grabbed the phone and tried, but he would have had to start a new video.

Another 1.5 inches of rain today.  I’m gonna have to go buy about 2 yards of topsoil and use those roll seed things to get grass to grow in my backyard.

Meanwhile the rest of us

It’s amazing how fast the soil in the Hill Country dries out. It’s not very deep so it makes sense, but these areas have had quite a bit of rain over the last couple of weeks. The good news is that Lake Buchanan keeps on getting lucky with rain falling in the perfect spot every few days. I was there the first weekend in May. It’s up over 11 feet since then and should get another foot or two over the next couple of days.

Since the May 16 storm, CenterPoint says it has:
Replaced more than 800 miles of electrical wires, which is farther than the distance from Houston to El Paso.
Replaced more than 700 transformers & approx. 2,000 poles
Restored nearly 900,000 customers as of noon, 5/23

Where did that person far right by the black SUV come from at like :30?

They just appear like they were dropped in from Kansas.

Then the Cadillac backs into them.

Rough day.
