To make it worse, just discovered one of the wind gusts broke a 5 inch limb up high on an oak. It is hung up and hanging over my garden. Not sure how I am going to drop this bad boy.

Just checked the rain gauge. 4.5 inches

I was binge watching The Bear all night and hearing the rain and thunder outside but wasn’t paying that close of attention. Just checked the map and I am between two gauges that were 3.22” and 3.41”. Also in 78628. Near 195/35

I’m near Ronald Reagan and 29. I’m not sure how accurate my glass rain gauge is.

The Weather Channel is completely up its own ass. To wit, a survey:

0.8" in NW Travis last night.  Better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Not counting on Beryl for anything around Austin though.  Instead it's gonna dump all over areas that have already had too much rain.  Ugh.

If Beryl turns a bit west, this rain could turn out to be why the lakes fill up. Almost at an inch in west lake so far. Fingers crossed!

Ah, so this was your fault.

My yard is still spongy from the rain we got a couple days ago so I'm not too bummed about the hurricane. This time of year half of the reason I want rain is to push the temps down a little, and it's nice and cloudy/breezy out there so far today so I'll take it.

Cool. Then come on up and lets drop a tree.

That's cool.  I'm glad you got a good soaking the other day.  Not everyone did, and the hurricane's rains would have been more than welcome.  Especially further west and along the Lake Travis recharge zone.

Me and @NorthLoop tried that at his old place in Austin. I got a concussion and nearly died.

That tree came down tho.

Not sure how I would've explained that one to the cops.

"So he slipped backwards and his skull was impaled by a tiny stump?"

"Million to one shot, officer. Million to one."

Sucks for those dealing with wind and water damage from Beryl.  But it would be nice to get some residual rain here in Austin.  Right now the forecast shows we'll get nothing and like it, though at least it's not hot as balls out, and I'm glad I was in the area that got a good bit of rain Friday evening.

My dad north of Dallas received more rain than we did in CenTex.

And yeah, sucks for them. And now here come the mosquitos.

Tonight was a nice evening. Went on a long bike ride and very pleasant.

I have a friend in Indiana who's already had more rain from the hurricane than we got in Austin.  So frustrating, so typical.

Yeah, that was weird.  I ran to the grocery store and had to wear sunglasses just to get from the truck to the entrance.  Not that strange in Texas at 5:30p in July.  But I came out at 6:00p and it was like nightfall.  They called off my daughter's swim practice because they didn't like the looks of the cloud cover.  Which sucked because I had my sunglasses on, despite looking like a creepy weirdo that didn't know it was basically dusk out at 6:30p because I like to check out this lifeguard from SMU who looks like pornstar Emma Hix.  Wait, we talking about rain?

That rain was a squall line from a coldish front.  In mid July. In Texas.

Absolutely zero complaints but it’s been wild the number of days in June and July this year where the wind has been coming in from the N and NE.

Woke up to this delightful sound. You can thank me. First time all summer I watered heavy was yesterday.

Ironically, I looked at the forecast last night and rolled the dice... turned off the irrigation system.  Usually it bites me in the ass... this time we got a great soaking.  Time to play the lottery.
