Yeah that was a weird, very localized storm.  The vast majority of Greater Austin got nothing, but Lanier High School seems to have taken the length at 2.24".

Similar situation up here yesterday.  Places around Lorena got like 4.5" in an hour along with hail and crazy winds.   Buddy of mine's place was absolutely wrecked in about 40 minutes yesterday afternoon.  Trees down, water coming into their house...crazy shit.

Holy shit, that's why Shoal Creek was flowing so heavily below 45th Street.

Yup.  I had no idea it was even raining anywhere in Austin, being up here in NW Travis, until AUS-97Horn mentioned it yesterday.  It was just sort of cloudy here.

Yep, guess so. weather forecasters will continue to tease us with 40% chances about 9-10 days out.

According to one of the mayoral candidates in Hays County, its cool, we have plenty of water.

you guys are getting teased with 40% chances? must be nice

San Marcos River running at just over 50%. This is not good right? I mean we all know how important it is for washing downstream Bobcat piss and dog shit, it might be something we should worry about. Meanwhile all over the I35 corridor there is more and more development. And not all of it very smart. Also, incumbent Mayor is running for office. She said recently we have plenty of water, enough to sell.

TL:DR we need rain bad. Did not see a thread in DT for climate, so dropping it here.

Quote

The river’s average flow is around 150 cubic feet per second. The San Marcos River Foundation shared a post-Monday saying the flow has dropped to around 80 cfs. Cubic feet per second is the unit of measurement used to describe the volume of water passing a point in a river in one second, according to USGS

“We’re at a concerning level,” said Virginia Parker, the Executive Director of the San Marcos River Foundation.

“The San Marcos River is fed by the Edwards Aquifer, which is a very large aquifer that provides drinking water to over 2 million people in Central Texas,” Parker continued. “There’s a lot of crunchy grass out there, which means our aquifer is not getting recharged in the way it needs – not only for drinking water but also for rivers and streams in Central Texas.”

Good old 10 day with that tease. If it does not happen going to kick a Georgia fan.

My guess is that I'll end up with about 1.5 inches total out of all of this max.

My guess is less than 0.1" at my house from all of this.  I haven't had measurable rain at my house in something like 11 weeks now.

Yeah who am I kidding. I'll get half an inch and like it.

My guess is green gets bountiful rain, yellow gets enough to offer hope without reviving any of the dead yards of Austin (exception: Westlake and Tarrytown) and red... you know.
