USMNT 2024

Possible silver lining. Does stuck in group play mean that Reyna, Pepi, Musah and Scally play in Olympics? Balogun is age eligible too, but playing for u21s for England may disqualify him.

Zimmerman and Robinson will be overage center backs with one more overage player available.

I wouldn't want Uruguay to rest starters anyway. This team needs to play good teams, not back their way into the knockouts to get some false sense of accomplishment.

Either they're going to win tonight and this whole deal will have been a valuable learning experience or we're going to get smoked at Berhalter is going to get canned. Win-win to me.

US has to win 4-0 to pass up Uruguay in the table.  3-0 and both would be at +4 but the next tiebreaker is goals scored and they'd be ahead there even with a 3-0 scoreline.    Panama need would need 6 to pass Uruguay because they'd lose out on head to head.

That MF is going to get smoked. I feel like we have to play Musah and move Reyna to a wing. Win on a counter. Play more like we did vs Brazil. Trying to take the fight right to Uruguay sounds like a disaster.

Best place to watch tonight's game in North Austin? I'll be with my wife and teenage son. I was thinking Hopsquad, but I'm open to suggestions.

Is there a place that serves $2 tequila shots?  I'd start there about 2 hours before kick and let the memories fade into the ether.

Mr Tramps used to be my go to place, but man that was over a decade ago, so no clue.

The U.S. will advance if it does better against Uruguay than Panama does against Bolívia. This can manifest itself in a few ways.

• The U.S. wins while Panama ties or loses.
• The U.S. wins or ties while Panama loses.

If the U.S. and Panama get the same result in their respective matches, then it will come down to goal differential. Currently the USMNT has a two-goal edge, plus-1 to minus-1.

• If the U.S. and Panama tie, the U.S. would go through based on the better goal differential.
• If the U.S and Panama both win, then there will be three teams on six points, and goal differential will factor in. The U.S. will need to make sure its margin of victory is enough that Panama doesn't make up the difference.
• The only way the U.S. catches Uruguay is if it beats La Celeste by four goals. Anything less than that and Uruguay would be above the Americans on the goal differential tiebreaker.
• Panama's margin of victory would need to be two goals better than the USMNT's. If the two sides find themselves even on goal differential, the next tiebreaker is goals scored, followed by head-to-head involving the three teams.
• If the U.S and Panama both lose, the U.S. will need to avoid losing by three more goals than Panama. If Panama makes up the two-goal differential, then the two teams could find themselves even on goal differential. Bolívia would also factor into the equation because three teams would be on three points.

If two or more teams are tied on points, goal differential and goals scored, then the tiebreaker will be determined as follows:

• Greater number of points obtained in the group-stage matches among the teams in question.
• Greater goal difference in group-stage matches among the teams in question.
• Greater number of goals scored in the group-stage matches among the teams in question.

If the teams are still tied, the tiebreaker will go to:

• Fewer red cards.
• Fewer yellow cards.
• By the drawing of lots.

I dont think that is correct.   It goes, Points, GD, Goals scored, then head to head (which Panama has over the US)

OK, The scenario would be 3 times tied with 6 points, with each beating eachother.

Bolivia has a GD of -7.

I don’t think that they’ve won a Copa America match in over a decade.

I think that they have score one goal in that time, but not positive.

Here I go down Bolivia’s Copa America rabbit hole. See you guys in a bit.

3 - 2 vs Ecuador 🇪🇨

0 - 0 vs Mexico 🇲🇽

0 - 5 vs Chile 🇨🇱

Then Bolivia lost to Peru 🇵🇪 1 - 3 in the quarterfinals.

SUMMARY:

Bolivia 🇧🇴 has LOST 11 Group Stage matches in a row and 12 Copa America matches of any kind in a row…

But maybe Panama being without tons of first team players will be enough to get Bolivia a result.

I made an error due to not looking at when Bolivia’s loss to Chile in the Group Stage was.

Their loss to Chile was the last match of the Group Stage, so it adds to the streak. (They may have been resting starters.)

CORRECT SUMMARY:

Bolivia 🇧🇴 has LOST 12 Group Stage matches in a row and 13 Copa America matches of any kind in a row.
