Not sure accurate -- saw on another board:

Former Texas linebacker S’Maje Burrell has signed to play with Trinity Valley Community College, according to a source.

Missing Derrick Brown, I believe.

Nvm. I saw he committed to TXST

Texas baseball player Nik Sanders joins the Longhorns' football program

This upcoming fall, Texas catcher Nik Sanders won't just be focused on baseball.

Sanders has been added to the roster of the Texas football team. He is currently listed as a 6-foot-2, 215-pound running back on the team's website. He has been assigned the No. 31 jersey.

Earlier on Monday, Sanders tweeted out a picture of his new locker and wrote "Let’s get it @TexasFootball." Sanders last played football at University High in Waco.

This past baseball season, Sanders was the designated hitter in UT's season opener. However, the freshman later found playing time hard to find. He appeared in just nine games and hit .056 over 18 at-bats.

Texas is set to open practices for the 2024 football season on Wednesday. Sanders will be one of eight running backs on the roster.

How is there not "all American caliber" shields around Banks, Ewers, and Hill?

Should absolutely be around the first 2. Having one QB legitimately be All American caliber and the other starting QB a "trouble spot" should tell you everything you need to know about Texas -7.5

The only one of those that would be a surprise burn to me before the season started is m TyAnthony Smith. Guess he's been much more ready for this level than was anticipated by GH and the others out of high school.

I was surprised Kobe Black has already burned his redshirt.

TyAnthony's early success has been great !!!

Top 50 - Ewers at 32, Beck at 33 lulz

Quote

6. Kelvin Banks Jr

Height: 6-4 | Weight: 320

Banks was my top-ranked tackle before the season began, though he had a rough night against Georgia on Saturday and surrendered a sack. The junior has one pressure allowed, zero blown run blocks and one penalty (false start) on 426 snaps. Banks' game is clean, but it's his lateral agility and quick feet that scouts love and believe will help make up for a lack of ideal height. "I've never seen his length be an issue," said an AFC scouting director. "He moves too well."

Quote

17. Isaiah Bond

Height: 5-11 | Weight: 180

The speedster of this class, Bond has a second gear that is unmatched. The Alabama transfer has hit the ground running with the Longhorns despite playing in a crowded wide receiver room. He's a developing route runner who currently excels at crossing and hook routes, where his wheels allow him to create space. While likely a slot receiver at the next level, Bond's quickness allows him to be a big-time target at that position. He has 23 catches and four TDs, and 192 of his 380 yards have come after the catch.

Quote

19. Cam Williams

Height: 6-5 | Weight: 335

Williams struggled against Georgia's defense, and much of the debate about his draft stock will come down to how the first-year starter responds in following weeks. But he has the traits to be a first-rounder. With graceful agility at his size, Williams can dance with pass rushers at the line of scrimmage and be a devastating force when pulling in the run game or getting to the second level in the screen game. He's learning and developing, so no one should expect a finished product. But his ceiling is as high as any tackle in the class.

Quote

28. Jahdae Barron

Height: 5-11 | Weight: 200

Barron has been a playmaker for the Texas secondary this season, allowing just seven receptions on 19 targets while also grabbing three interceptions. Formerly used as a slot cornerback, Barron moved to the right corner spot this season and is playing like a Thorpe Award winner. Barron's value will ultimately vary based on NFL team and scheme preferences, but he is playing as well as any corner in the country. After beginning the season as an early-Day 3 guy, Barron has moved into Round 1 territory.

Quote

32. Quinn Ewers

Height: 6-2 | Weight: 210

Ewers came back from an oblique injury and looked great in a blowout win over rival Oklahoma, but the third-year player was benched at one point against Georgia the following week. That sums up the Ewers experience. He's accurate, reads defenses well and does a good job setting up his playmakers. But in that way, he's very much a game manager. When asked to let it rip and throw receivers open in a crowded pocket against the Bulldogs, Ewers froze. He has to play looser football and be less robotic to realize his immense potential.

The scheme and talent around Ewers are elite, so it's on him the rest of the season to put together moments and production that will show scouts his talent. He has 11 touchdown passes to four interceptions this season.

Tight end

1. Colston Loveland, Michigan
2. Tyler Warren, Penn State
3. Mason Taylor, LSU
4. Oscar Delp, Georgia
5. Gunnar Helm, Texas

Safety

1. Malaki Starks, Georgia
2. Nick Emmanwori, South Carolina
3. Keon Sabb, Alabama
4. Andrew Mukuba, Texas
5. Kevin Winston Jr., Penn State

JJR's shirt burned due to Makuba being out. Everyone else burned their a long time ago.

Guess he's going to get Livingstone that shirt. Didn't look like it early on.

They might save some of these guys for post season as well. CCG/playoffs don't count toward the game count for RS.

Article on Roster Sizes...

SEC coach says expectation is rosters remain at 85 scholarship players in 2025

Auburn's Hugh Freeze reveals likelihood on SEC coaches' Zoom

John Brice          10 hours ago

Football rosters, at least per a prominent coach in the Southeastern Conference, are likely to remain status quo in 2025.

Well, from a scholarship standpoint, that is.

Overall? Sources tell FootballScoop that, borrowing from Seinfeld, there's likely to be some shrinkage.

Auburn coach Hugh Freeze on Wednesday admitted roster management has become a virtually unanswerable proposition in the sport's current format and landscape, particularly with a new, shortened NCAA Transfer Portal window next month and after an advanced early-signing period.

While college football parameters have shifted to allow schools, as part of the ongoing House-NCAA settlement and expected revenue-sharing distribution, to expand from 85 scholarships to a fully funded 105-man squad, Freeze said it has been indicated that the model has not advanced to that point.

"My understanding is they're going to, we're still going to be at 85 (scholarship players) for next year," Freeze, in his second-year on the Plains, said. "So, that, while I don't think that's the right move, for us, I do think we should have gone up to at least 90 to 95; we're being asked to play more games, there's no room to replace people is my understanding from your roster limit.

"So, I wish we would have went up a few scholarships. My understanding is we're still going to be at 85, so you're signing based on that."

The new truncated December window for the Transfer Portal has been established to run from Dec. 9-28; early signing has been scheduled for Dec. 4-6.

Sources Wednesday night indicated to FootballScoop that, with questions left unanswered on exactly when revenue distribution would begin and what model would be deployed, the 85-person scholarship roster was expected to stay in place but that also the 105-man roster would be implemented. That scenario, two sources explained, would mean schools, at least in the SEC, would not have any fewer shcolarship players but would likely have 15 fewer walk-on members on their roster.

It's not yet clear if other Power Conferences also would hold to those parameters, at least in 2025.

Freeze was asked how certain he could be with roster needs in the current environment and how much that would help a coach navigate program needs.

His answer was basically not at all and a lot.

"As you know, I don't care what the roster number is, it's impossible for us to figure out exactly what the plan is because you don't know how many you're having leave," said Freeze, whose current 2025 recruiting class has been tabbed as the nation's No. 5 group of commitments by 247Sports. "So, it's almost impossible to know how many you should sign, truthfully.

"That would be really good to know. I mean, it would be really, really, really helpful if you knew those things.

I don't think there's any way that any one of us know exactly what our roster is going to look like. I mean the signing period's going to come and go in early December, and then the Portal is going to open and you know, most everyone is going to already be signed."

Freeze indicated the sport's current dynamics, coupled with the roster challenges and discrepancy in when players have been scheduled to sign versus when the Portal has been slated to operate, make it impossible to build an organic, prep-based roster.

"You're left with, and as much as I would love to build this program heavily through the high school ranks, which I'm sure trying to do, that requires a little patience, which not many people want to have patience in today's time," Freeze said. "And, I don't know that it's really realistic that you can continue to do that because we're signing for an 85-man roster come early December and then the Portal opens and you lose X amount. You're forced pretty much, the only thing you can do at that point is there's either some unsigned kids out there at that point, which I think will be very few, or you have to go to the Portal to replace those. There is no formula that I don't think anyone can give that is going to be a consistent one in trying to manage your 85-man roster. It's very, very difficult."

Freeze emphasized SEC coaches had not been formally informed that the rosters would remain at 85 scholarship players in 2025, not yet, anyway, but that it had been directly indicated from institutional leaders.

"That's just what we've heard from our presidents. I don't know that it's fact that it's going to stay there or not; we were told that we should plan for our signing day, plan on it being the 85-number for scholarships.

I don't know that it means it's going to stay there, but that's what I've been told to try to base it on come December.

Why is it expected at this point? Just cause he wasn’t getting reps?

Losing reps to a true freshman (stud) and we have likely recruited over him with the two 5-stars coming in next year.
