Texas Football Roster 2024 -- "You never lose a game if the opponent doesn’t score" DKR

I may question our pass defense and Sark's playcalling at times, but I do not question his roster building and recruiting. Losing JT sucks, but it was anticipated and Sark will address it.

Man I wanted him back worse than anyone besides ewers. I haven’t done the research, but it felt like if he had at least five touches in a game, we won going away.

Last one excepted.

Not to be one of 'those people,' but if your opponents don't score and you also don't score, you don't win. The game is a tie. Okay, maybe it's fun to be one of those people.

Well, I guess I’m one of “those people” because….if you tie….you didn’t lose!

Helm isn’t the ATH JT was, but he’s a solid replacement.
congrats to JT though. You made your mark. Hook’em!
Better blocker for the run game, hopefully he gets a bit better at getting open and using his size to high point the ball.

Watts did well for us but I am ready to see what is next.  He has the size to potentially have a nice NFL career but I felt like more often than not he lost 50/50 balls and was just not quite good enough to make the big play.  He rarely got burnt outright but he always just seemed a step slow and was a half second away from stopping the big play that just happened.

I'm happy with Watt's tenure at Texas. He had size and played physical. We're upgrading our secondary talent, but I expect our young guys are going to take some lumps. I do expect us to generate more pressure next year, especially from the edge to protect those guys.

So it looks like any portal FROM Texas is a step down to get PT.

Are we expecting some departures at OL and maybe one at RB?

There was some chatter about him getting passed up by Lefau who redshirted, and following Choate to Nevada.

I’ve seen rumors of losing addl guys at OL, DL, and LB.  And there are rumors that Mitchell and Barron could return.

Mitchell likely gone... Barron might be 50/50

Texas isn’t going to be inexperienced in the secondary next year. A lot depends on Barron’s decision, which is said to be a coin flip. Assuming he isn’t back the secondary will likely be Williams, Taffee, Makuba (NB), Brooks (CB), and Muhammad (CB)..All of them got substantial minutes. If Barron comes back that likely bumps Taffee out of starting safety spot and Mukuba likely slots in there

I too am hearing rumors that Mitchell may return. Nothing I would stake my reputation on. But it's not a slam dunk. A lot of the players feel there is unfinished business.

Bobby had an interesting point on Agbo. That if he could get down to 260-270 and keep or increase athleticism that he could become a good inline tight end.

Scipio mentioned something similar a few weeks ago but in relation to the portal instead of Agbo. Said everyone thinks we’ll go after a down the field threat but if there is a great 260 lb inline TE out there that could pose just as many matchup problems the way sark likes to deploy two te sets.

Interesting that guy could already be on campus

3 Portal TE names Bobby mentioned this morning

Holden Staes - ND > Tennessee
Ben Yurosek - Stanford
Justin Jolly - UCONN > NC State

This board hates white DBs so much.

Only when they drop game-winning INTs.

Well, or when they become secondary coaches...

Odd response.  I do not see Texas bringing in Mukuba to sit on the bench. He is going to start at NB or Safety. Who do you think starts in the secondary, if Barron comes back?

His time with Ian Boyd is starting to show.
