Redskins fans are blowing gaskets over Ben Johnson staying in Detroit. Who’d want to take that lousy franchise? Stadium is world class shitbox. Traded away their best players. No QB.

In “regards” to the Detroit Lions, When a person, place or a thing goes full Aggie, do you expect anything different than what you get with Dan Campbell as your head coach!

Aggie coaches, Aggie owners, Aggie Goat Herders, Aggie List Holders they are all one and the same.

Ryan Grubb reportedly a candidate for Seahawks offensive coordinator opening

DOUG SAMUELS     4 MINUTES AGO

Mike Macdonald has his sights on one of the top coordinators in college football.  As a bonus, the coach also happens to be very familiar with Seattle.

Macdonald, who held his introductory presser as the new head coach of the Seahawks earlier today, is considering Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb for his offensive coordinator post, per PFT.

Mike Floria shares that Grubb is "definitely under consideration for the job," and says that a deal is not finalized.

Last month, Grubb left Seattle to follow Kalen DeBoer from Washington to Alabama.

Grubb has no previous experience coaching in the NFL, but has prior stops at Fresno State, Eastern Michigan, Sioux Falls (NAIA) and South Dakota State (FCS). His relationship with DeBoer spans back to their days together at Sioux Falls.

Anyone else jazzed up about Harbaugh to the Chargers?!?!?

/CSB warning/

I got my hair cut today and the TV was on ESPN which happened to be carrying his press conference live. He is so fucking insufferable. After about 5 minutes the barber says “I can’t take this shit anymore” and changes the channel. I was quite grateful. He is like nails on a fucking chalkboard and I’m not sure how players take him seriously. Such a cheesedick.

The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to hire former Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury as their offensive coordinator, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.

Kingsbury, 44, was one of four candidates who interviewed for the vacant position during the past two weeks, along with Luke Getsy, Alex Van Pelt and Mike Sullivan.

Yeesh. Pierce having Chip Kelly and Kingsbury as your two finalists for OC is a huge red flag.

If you could combine Kelly's running game and Kingsbury's passing game, you might have a borderline qualified NFL OC

Coen to Tampa means yet another Shanahan tree OC in the league

McVay was the youngest HC in the league...for 6-7 years.

He's pretty much his own fucking tree at that point.

Guess they’re writing a bigger check.

Interesting.  Bigger check most likely.

Also, the Raiders are in bit of a worse situation, IMO, despite winning 4 more games than Washington.  First, Raiders hired the player favorite head coach.  That seldom turns out well.  Second, Raiders have a far crappier cap situation.  Third, their top players are either old, ineffective, or want out.  Last, Raiders have 3 picks in the first 3 rounds and Washington has 6.

Why is the hiring of Kliff Kingsbury being reported as the firing of Eric Bienemy? Since when is a new head coach hiring a new OC reported as him firing the old OC who never worked for him? Seems like they're going out of their way to claim that Eric Bienemy was fired.  Didn't all of the newly hired head coaches essentially fire the staffs of the previous head coaches?

Because he was still under contract. He was fired.

So you're under the belief that he's the first assistant coach to be under contract when his head coach is fired? Every other fired head coach just happened to have all their assistants on the last year of their contracts?

Media outlets got good results using Bienemy's name to racebait and drive engagement and they will continue to bleed it for every last possible click

I think that’s tapered off over the years. Media folks seem to know why he’s not getting looks.  Couple that with the fact that bellichek, vrabel and Carroll are on the sidelines while black coaches are getting hired and it gets quiet quickly.  Another data point, Nick siriani is on the hot seat one year after making it to the super bowl

Well...the small issue with that is that the Washington offense was hot garbage.

3 of 6 openings filled with black candidates, and Bienemy didn’t get an interview unless he was the commanders Rooney qualifier. He is a raging asshole with some DV history. He kinda proved he was Reid’s assistant principal, the asshole to counter his captan Kangaroo and do the dirty work. But not calling plays. Or making them.

The media used him as the poster child for black coaches not getting a shot. There’s a reason that has nothing to do with his color.

An NFL GM reportedly shared Mike Vrabel's physical stature kept him from landing head coaching job this cycle

The GM called Vrabel "a very large human being" in noting there wasn't a fit in this year's cycle.

DOUG SAMUELS         20 HOURS AGO

When the NFL coaching cycle started with seven openings, it would have been hard to find someone that believed all those jobs would get filled and yet Bill Belichick and Mike Vrabel would both be left on the market.

Yet that is exactly how it all played out.

There wasn't a single taker for arguably the greatest NFL coach ever, with 6 Super Bowls and surely some good football left in the tank at 71-years old, nor the former Patriot who won double-digit games in 2021 and 2022 with the Titans.

Their link together with the Patriots aside, the two have plenty in common including their obvious disdain interacting with the media at times, and while that certainly could have been part of the equation, this year's cycle saw five of the seven openings go to guys that will lead a team for a full season for the very first time (Dave Canales, Antonio Pierce, Jerod Mayo, and Mike Macdonald).

Meanwhile, two guys were tabbed for a second crack at being an NFL head coach (Jim Harbaugh and Dan Quinn).

Vrabel, the former Patriots linebacker who looks like he still has a few snaps left in him, went 54-45 leading the Titans, and compiled that record in a quarterback-driven league driven without a consistent option at the position that would have started on a lot of other teams in the league.

So what kept him from landing another NFL head coaching opportunity?

Well according to a comment made by Dianna Russini of The Athletic today, at least one NFL GM commented on his physique and intense demeanor as one thing that may have held him back.

"I don't think there was a fit for him. I don't think he sat in front of any owner who thought that his style was going to work for what they were looking for."

"I had a GM at the Senior Bowl who mentioned to me Vrabel's physical build. That he's a very large human being, and that can be very intimidating to people in an organization that are going to be part of these decisions...and that is a factor."

Not wanting Vrabel to lead a team because he takes care of himself like he could be called into NFL action at any moment seems beyond an absolutely ridiculous rationale, but maybe we shouldn't be surprised as we're talking about the same league that has lagged well behind in hiring minority coaches and front office personnel.

For the record, how "large" is Vrabel? About 6'4, 260.

That conversation with the GM seems like the perfect opportunity to mention Dan Campbell's success with the Detroit Lions in one of the most impressive rebuilds in recent NFL memory.

Campbell had a spent more than a decade in the NFL as a tight end at 6'5, 260 pounds.

The comments regarding Vrabel strike me as the latest sign that the thought process of front office personnel in the NFL needs a drastic, immediate overhaul. Insecure individuals who want to make hiring decisions based factors that have nothing to do with a candidate's ability to lead men (and women) deserve no place at the table of decision makers.

But for now, I'll take that as further proof that dad bods continue to be "in," and send this to my wife.

See the audio clip for full context.
