I like Ashton at leadoff. She deserves it, my bias against slapping notwithstanding. Great ab by mia.

Yeah that was a good move

How many of our losses have come against dominant pitchers? Canady, Berzon, Kilfoyl, and Maxell?

Don't think Baylor has an arm of this caliber. Stating the obvious here, but feels like you are going to need a legit ace to beat this Texas team.

That’s 5 of our 6. The obvious pitching meltdown was the other against UH

Just posting this here because we're actually good at softball...

Is texassports the worst goddamn website on this planet? Takes a fucking month to load regardless of device.

Same. It fucking blows. It’s a lot of them in college that use the person template

Yeah, it's not really only us, just pisses me off the most.

Same. When I preview upcoming teams, pulling their schedules takes forever. Whoever is handling these websites decided to make them so incompatible with mobile

Today’s contest is at 1:30 bc it’s on real TV (ESPN2) following the aggy-Bama contest (game 1 of that series)

Texas fans are going to have to get used to the SEC often starting their series on Thursdays and Saturdays instead of traditionally starting on Friday.

Live RPI didn't show any punishment for OU (no change from #2) while BYU jumped up 8 spots to #58.  Decent chance they could get into the top 50 by end of the season and be another 3 RPI 26-50 win for us, as they're done with TX, OU, OKST after today.

OKST dropped 2 spots to #9, while ISU rose 8 spots to #86

Baylor dropped 4 spots to #23, but after this weekend, they're done with the top of the league (TX, OU, OKST, KU) so they can stack some wins in their remaining Big 12 contests against UCF, BYU, UH

Updated standings:

OU 14-3
OKST 12-4
Texas 12-4
KU 10-6
UCF 8-8
Texas Tech 5-8
Baylor 5-11
ISU 4-9
BYU 5-12
UH 3-13

BYU and Baylor have some work to do to finish .500 in Big 12 play - don't think a sub-.500 record in conference play is going to land an at-large bid, that's usually something reserved for the SEC only. At the moment, the Big 12 looks assured of getting in TX, OU, OKST, KU and probably UCF, with the first 3 hosting and at least 2 of them being top 8 seeds.

Remaining teams left on schedule of the top 4:

OU - BYU (1 more game at home), UH (3 at home), UCF (3 in Orlando), OKST (3 at home)
OKST - ISU (2 more games in Ames), Tech (3 at home), KU (3 at home), OU (3 in Norman)
Texas - BU (2 more games at home), Kansas (3 in Lawrence), ISU (3 at home), Tech (3 in Lubbock)
KU - Tech (2 more in Lubbock), Texas (3 at home), OKST (3 in Stillwater), BYU (3 at home)

Texas probably has the easiest finishing schedule of the top 3.  OKST and OU have some toughies - @ UCF is no slouch and Bedlam is going to be interesting

The conference race is actually interesting this year.

Texas needs to root for some chaos or just an OU series win (not sweep) in Bedlam.

If Texas wins out (we will be favored in every remaining contest), we need OU to drop 1 more game (Texas has series win over OU, so a co-regular season championship with OU would net Texas the #1 seed in the Big 12 tournament) and OKST to drop 2 more contests (OKST has series win over Texas).

Texas just needs to avoid the same conf record as OKST since they have the series tiebreaker.

Honestly, the best and most likely scenario is OU wins 2/3 in Bedlam and Texas wins out for the below, but UCF in Orlando is no guaranteed sweep for OU and OKST has been inconsistent enough to drop one elsewhere.   So has Texas though, hence root for some chaos (UCF takes 2/3 from OU, OU takes Bedlam, OKST drops a random contest here and there).

Texas 23-4 (#1 seed)
OU 23-4 (#2 seed)
OKST 21-5

Interesting stat:

Tiare Jennings/Jayda Coleman as a duo for OU have played for 4 seasons so far - 2021, 22, 23, 24

This is the worst loss by RPI in those 4 years.

2021: Georgia #9, OKST #6, JMU #11, FSU #4
2022: Texas #8, OKST #4, UCLA #3
2023: Baylor #22
2024: ULL #15, Texas #1, Texas #1, BYU #70
