Great to see KC hitting well and fielding her position very well when she gets her chance.

Such a crucial team player. She’s played catcher, 1st and RF while at Texas and just comes off the bench as needed. Totally down for her to play once or twice a weekend at 1st when Stewie catches to give Reese a break

Congrats to former Texas Asst and head coach at Kansas Jennifer McFalls.    Kansas is improving under her watch,  best in the future.

And to her Mom,  a breast cancer survivor.

Texas got progressively better all weekend. Lackluster 4-2 on Friday, offensive exploded on Saturday 11-3 and then pitching just blanked KU 7-0

Perfect business trip to Lawrence

Texas has 2 wins against the PAC 12 leader (UCLA), 2 against the Big 12 leader (OU), 1 against the ACC leader (FSU) and 1 against the SEC leader (Tenn). Also 2 against the Sun Belt leader (ULL).

Our game against the B1G leader (Northwestern) got cancelled in Clearwater

Helluva resume! I would think they have a great chance at a top 2 seed.

No worse than top 3 imo if we don’t stumble against ISU or KU.

But really, just being in the top 8 is what this team needs. Play at home for 2 consecutive weekends

Certainly didn’t have UCLA sweeping Stanford in Palo Alto. Glad we got them early and those 2 road wins look better and better as UCLA should jump into the top 10

Vintage Citlaly performance. Maybe moving her to Sunday is the way to go

I think she is better against power hitting teams, slapper and short swing teams like baylor and txst seems to be able to generate more hard contact against her.

As for our offense it had to start looking to hit to RF more, the scouting report is out.  Throw away and soft away to righties, and throw the lefties hard in.

I think you meant TT and not KU but that's neither here nor there. We'll be at game 3 of the TT series. It will be a lively crowd since all 3 games are sold out. Hope there's gonna be some other Longhorn fans there.

This morning's RPI:

1 Texas
2 OU
3 LSU
4 UGA
5 Stanford

Just kind of looking at potential hosts in our region:

Texas
OU
aggy (RPI 7)
Mizzou (RPI 10)
Arky (RPI 14)
ULL (RPI 15)
TXST (RPI 16)

You really have to determine where to send TXST if they don't host, Baylor and KU.  Baylor and KU can't go to Austin or Norman.  TXST can't go to Lafayette.

Potential options:

  • Texas-TXST
  • aggy-Baylor
  • Mizzou-Kansas
  • Arky-Baylor
  • ULL-Baylor
  • aggy-TXST

Texas Tech, if they made the tournament, would probably go out west to Stanford or UCLA.   Texas could also see someone shipped to them, such as MSST or Washington

The scary thing about this Texas team is the fact Guitierrez is only a Sophomore and Kavan is only a Freshman. The pitching is set up for a couple more years.

Maybe she's fine with her role but I would be shocked if Simpson is on the roster next year. It's unfortunate that Simpson has such command issues because her stuff is really good (as you can see with her ERA). You just can't trust her because of the walks.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Simpson starts against Nicholls. She can always be pulled if things start to go south

Not a bad idea with 4 games in 4 days.  It's not like they are very good.  .266 team BA, 21 team HR, 99 walks to 181 strikeouts

Their best hitter by average is .321.  Our worst hitter in our starting 9 by average is .336.  Best HR hitter has 5

Texas is 6-3 against the other teams in D1 Softball Top 5 (2-1 versus OU, 1-0 versus Tenn, 1-2 versus OKST and 2-0 versus UCLA)

7-5 against the top 10 (add: 1-1 versus Stanford and 0-1 versus LSU)

12-5 against top 25 (add: 1-0 versus FSU, 2-0 versus ULL, 2-0 versus TXST)

What are the other teams in the Top 5 records against the Top 10?

OU: 3-2 (1-2 versus Texas, 1-0 versus Washington, 1-0 versus Duke) - still have 3 versus OKST
Tenn: 2-4 (0-1 versus Texas, 0-1 versus UCLA, 2-1 versus LSU)
OKST: 4-2 (1-0 versus UCLA, 0-1 versus LSU, 1-0 versus Washington, 2-1 versus Texas) - still have 3 versus OU
UCLA: 5-5 (0-2 versus Texas, 0-1 versus OKST, 1-0 versus Tenn, 1-2 versus Washington, 3-0 versus Stanford)
Texas: 7-5

That looks good for us.

Granted, there's a new committee every year, but do recall that last year, "Top 10 wins" was a huge metric for seeding.

Texas with 7 and very likely to face OKST and/or OU again (will depend on seeding based upon Bedlam and Texas winning out) but we have a legit case for #1 or #2 overall seed. (#1 if we win the Big 12 regular season, I'd say)

I do not trust this aggy resurgence

9-7 against the top 25
#17 SOS
#78 non-conf SOS (best non-conf win is #14 Oregon twice)
2-4 against the top 8 of the SEC (0-3 versus LSU and 2-1 versus MSST) and 13-2 against the bottom 5 teams (Alabama, Kentucky, SC, Auburn, Ole Miss)

Holy hell did they get handed an easy SEC schedule.  They finish at Florida (3rd in the SEC) and completely miss Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia and Mizzou
