Guess family gets some credit:  why prop him in an open casket.. let's pose him the way we all remember him.  Half of me thinks it's cool, the other half is creeped out.  But it's got panache.

Renard Matthews' funeral reflected what he enjoyed in life - basketball and computer games ( WGNO )

The family of an “avid gamer” who was murdered in New Orleans, displayed his body sitting upright in a chair with a Playstation controller in his hands, snacks at his side and wearing his favourite basketball jersey and flip-flops, in a unique memorial service.

Renard Matthews, 18, was shot dead while he was out walking his dog two weeks ago. His family said they wanted him to be surrounded by the things he loved for his final send off.

Mr Matthews, who a neighbour
described as "a nice young man," was a fan of basketball team Boston Celtics. His body was decked out in the team's jersey and matching socks, while a TV showing a video of one of their games was placed in front of him during the wake at Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home.

If I recall correctly, this is not a terribly uncommon practice in certain parts of the Caribbean. Seen a few pictures of Puerto Ricans and Dominicans dressed up in their every day clothes, propped up on motorcycles, sitting at tables with a tall boy...etc.

I like to think that's how they found him when he died. And they just decided to roll the chair on over to the funeral home.

Nah. He was shot of course.

Poors.

When my day comes, I don't want rootbeer and Doritos.

Throw me a Cooper's beef rib and s shiner prickly pear and send me on to Valhalla.
