Just seen Texas softball is pre-season #1,  and more than likely Texas baseball top 25. Seems everyone else pulling their weight in Austin but the basketball team.

CDC has to be thinking that .

Terry better make something shake and quick

I've believed the rank at the END of the season is the one to make decisions on.

You can like a man but still believe he needs to go. Texas can never maximize with Terry. He’s simply not a great coach.

I was on a call, but I was wondering if it was possible to “reassign” RT to a different job in the Athletic Department at halftime.

Has anyone addressed that yet?

lots of people in the game thread talking about “fire him at half time.” now that reality has sunk in, suddenly the “optics” of it all don’t matter so much anymore, do they? so for the “CDC had no choice” crowd, just imagine if TJO, tommy lloyd, or nate oates was on our sidelines right now while RT was stinking it up at some lower tier ACC or Big XII school. y’all still think the optics would have been some huge problem?

That's just game-threading. A midseason coaching change to an interim coach (different circumstances) is part of why we're in this situation in the first place

we’re not going to fire RT mid season, nor should we. i’m simply saying that the “optics” argument was always BS. you don’t *have* to hire a coach who you know sucks just because a few former players won’t like it and the media will mention it for 2-3 days.

we’re now in january of RT’s second full year and our entire fan base is beyond sick of RT being our coach. this is why “we HAD” to hire him doesn’t hold water. we did not have to hire him, and we never should have. it’s been CDC’s one misstep in HC hiring. have a search, let RT be the runner up, and then hire a coach who’s capable of winning at this level. the fallout would have been minimal, and would have disappeared as soon as everyone was reminded of how mid RT actually is.

A mid season firing wouldn’t be a bad idea to get a start on the search

And that’s why you’re a poster on a message board and not an AD. Do you really think CDC won’t begin the search in earnest until RT is fired?  Do you think an extra 2ish months of speculation surrounding who our next coach will be will benefit us or our next coach?

There’s a reason CDC kept Pierce’s firing under wraps as long as possible.  I imagine the process for our next basketball coach will be similar and there’s only a few days between RT’s firing and the announcement of our new coach.

every top flight coach in america is licking his chops today thinking about the raise he’s going to get this offseason. the Texas MBB HC vacancy is the gift that keeps on giving raises to the best coaches in america.

Patience.  You’ll get what you want soon enough.  Enjoy the win. Or don’t.  Don’t get banned again.

I remember the Shaka era when there seemed like half a dozen instances where his teams reached a point of no return only to do something positive enough to keep things going. This feels like one of those moments.

If they win in Oxford, though...

This team is too talented to lose every game    Imo it’s sweet 16 or just for Rodney.

While acknowledging the team did not quit and proved it with their second half effort … honestly … I attribute the W more to Buzz’s inept coaching/clock management over the final 5 minutes or so.  At least that was my perspective.

False.

First half a&m went nutsfrom 3FG and offensive boards.

2nd half Texas played much better defense (still got beat on the board s, but by less) and made buckets.

1st half was terrible play... 2nd half was winning basketball (minus the recording, imo)

A difference of opinion.  I’ll stick to my contention that Buzz lost more than RT won.
