Bobby and Gerry were pretty aggressive about it on their show tonight. “We expect him to be let go soon but not sure if it’s official yet.”

Lots of talk about how fast this will move.

If Sampson was a bit younger I'd say pay him $10 million a year to clean up this mess. He's built Houston into a juggernaut. Don't give a fuck about past allegations, it's the NIL era.

He wouldn't leave Houston.

It's amazing that people pay guys like that for info.

Like I know for a fact that RT is gone and I'm not paying my car insurance through $9.95 residuals.

All you need is pattern recognition and some insight and to not be a blathering idiot being fed misinformation. There are easily a dozen posters here across every men's big 3 sport that I trust more than Burton or Hamilton.

The point was the speed they expect this to happen. As in not Tom Herman or David Pierce.

Okay and MY point is that after tonight I would expect it to happen very quickly regardless of what $9.95ers have to say. That isn't new intel.

I mean I'm one degree away from multiple guys on the team and a student manager and even then I don't dig for info a lot because, well first, I respect people's privacy, but also because most of this shit should be obvious. I don't need Gerry and Bobby to form my opinion on this shit.

Sounds like you’re the dumb one for not getting that sweet 9.95

I'm expecting that CDC will give the news to RT within 24 hours, but his pattern is not to go public until he has the next guy lined up and ready to announce.

It may not be announced to a few weeks, depending on who it is.

We want a coach that will be here for a long time. Pitino may be too old now for a stretch like that.

Right now we need a program built. This is 3rd tier bullshit barely making then losing the 68 team play in round. Pitino builds programs, and although he wouldn't be here long, if he took the job he would know he'd be here long enough to build a contender.

He's the best college coach out there. The dude took Providence college to the final 4 almost 40 years ago and now is winning at St Johns of all places.

Now, if he says no or if they just really want to roll the dice with a young coach then try to go after Royal Ivy. I just think Pitino would be an easier get than Ivy at this point. Ivy is making a big name for himself in NBA circles and is probably a year or two away from having an NBA head coaching job. He might not want to deal with college bullshit.

I don't think we're interested in hiring a coach in his 70s.

If not then it's going to be tough sledding if they can't get Ivy. No one with a solid job in a power conference is going to leave a successful program to come here. The only reason Pitino might is because he's at St Johns, and he's been reforming his image and legacy after the Louisville disaster.

He, like Beard, is on a 2nd chance career reclamation mission. Making his final chapter being turning a major program that has never won shit in it's history into a title winner is an enticing ending to his story and legacy.

pitino was just on tv talking about how this is his last job, how he doesn’t know if he has another “1, 2, 3” years left, and with that being the case he’s just going to have as much fun as he can. he said he can see the end on the horizon, and that it’s coming soon, at St.John’s.

do we really think we’re going to strike out on every single one of these names? honest question/informal poll:

who will be the next Texas HC:

a)one of those guys, or a surprise hire of equal standing

b)the field, aka settling for less

This being Texas basketball, a distant third of our big three sports, I'm going with b.

Test him. Wouldn't be the first time he was full of shit to the media.

What will happen is they'll end up with someone like Sean Miller who will have them competitive, somewhere between a 3 to 9 seed most years, and the occasional sweet 16. The university needs to decide if they want to go all in to win the final piece of the men's money sport national championships, or if they're content to be good and make the sweet 16 most years while putting in all the money into football and baseball.

if he’s talking about seeing the finish line “after 50 years in coaching” (his first job was as a hawaii assistant in 1974) then we don’t want to hire him in the first place.

What's the buyout situation on those? Burton said people he talked to in the AD mentioned not wanting to pay a buyout, especially one in excess of 7 to 8 mil.

the people i’ve talked to have said the opposite. the basketball BMD’s are ready to money whip oats if they can. they’re sick of this mediocrity and they know that the only way you actually win in college hoops is to have an elite HC who’s going to stick around for a decade or two.

assuming he can keep his hands to himself.

His buyout is 18 million. This university is never spending that on a basketball coach. Your shit will turn green and smell like lucky charms before that ever happens.

doesn’t change what i’ve heard. even if we ultimately can’t afford our no.1 guy because of an $18m buyout, that doesn’t change what i’ve heard, which is that the basketball BMD’s are not trying to pussyfoot around with any more shaka’s or RT’s. they want the next hire to be chris beard without the scandal- an elite coach who is here for the long haul. they’re not trying to pinch pennies, they’re trying to hit a home run.

you look at all of the home run hires that cdc has made, you look at the state of Texas Athletics, you look at the women being a 1 seed, you look at KD calling Austin a basketball city, you look at Texas hiring chris beard right after TTU extended him and made him the fourth highest paid HC in the country, and you look at Texas building Moody (where the NBA is already playing regular season games), and you tell me what you think we’re gonna do: hire the guy whose last job move was a step down/step back to his old job, or hit another one over the batter’s eye in center field?

Buddy, it was FREE on YouTube right after the game and then soon after that, it was available FREE wherever you get your podcasts.

One does not harp pay for all information, but you do have to put up with stuttering and schizophrenic interruptions of Bobby’s sentences by at least 4 or 5 trains of thought that will result in 20 words that don’t even complete half of a thought before one train of thought stutters through into fairly complete sentences with several “at the end of the day”s and some “if that makes any sense”s before Gerry takes over to provide inside information with butchered grammar.

it’s probably the best free inside information in the Texas sports sphere.

Crazy that I had the "info" even before Chip Brown did.

Chip Brown is becoming a non-entity with Bobby & Gerry leaving the national focus and transitioning to Texas only focus.

His weekly podcast doesn’t even seem to be weekly anymore, plus there doesn’t seem to be any in-podcast advertising like there was a couple of years ago.

He has to be a dick and tweet this so that other media will pick it up and credit him so that people are reminded that he still exists.

He’s marginalized because he’s a dick, so he has to be more of a dick so that he’s not forgotten.

At halftime, when Texad had 47 points on 6 fucking assists, it was obvious that we were not going to be able to keep it up.

Xavier played a nice little game. The Pope minutes and the stretch where Shed had to sit because he got kneed in the balls was the difference. That and the Tre FT misses but what are you going to do he's fucking 19.

Wouldn't be surprised if Xavier beats Illinois. They have a decent squad and can shoot.

I’m still on Team Tommy. Hopefully Zona get bounced early (Because he already has his bags packed) so he has plenty of runway to get to Austin and hit the portal.

Fastest coach to 50 wins and either a conference tournament or regular season championship in the first 3 years if his career. Also add 2 sweet 16s so far. Thats better than most we have talked about.
