That hits home because my midnight gummy just kicked, I wolfed down half a box of raisins, and I'm going with Springsteen at the Main Point Bryn Mawr PA 1975.

I'll have to check that out. Pre Born To Run that's some rare shit.

Idk what it is with smaller school coaches and Texas but it’s like once they get here they don’t coach or do the same things that got them there.

Correct. I’d probably lean Tech coach over Drake coach.

I’d be tempted to go as splashy as possible to fill the nicest gym in CBB, but thankfully CDC is much smarter than me.

The problem is that you are expected to sign the occasional 5 Star recruit and definitely get some Top 50 players each year, but…

Top Players don’t want to run HAVIC/ 40 Minutes of Hell.

Top players usually want to play just enough defense to not look like they don’t care and then either jack 3s or fly in for dunks.

St. John’s had the #1 defense in the country because they didn’t have any shooters on the team.

Shaka sucked as a coach, but there was no way that he was getting Texas’ rosters to run HAVOC.

Top Players only want to play offense, which is why you need to get a new coach is knows how to coach offense.

I’m not sure if one person who was saying “just hire RT, he deserves it” or some shit like that has even shown up to eat crow. If I remember correctly, most of those dudes were the bros who don’t even watch Texas basketball and only watch during the tournament.

There were plenty of us on here screaming at anyone who would listen that hiring him permanently was the worst, absolute worst, mistake The University could make.

And here we are.

My thoughts were the transition year would be the high point of his Texas tenure.

I was not alone.

Good Bye and Good luck RT. Enjoy the $16 million.

Move RT to the athletic department if he wants it.

Why?

I thought this website said the athletic department was too bloated? No need to do this. Cut him his check and wish him well.

It's early, but for people who were for some reason worried about it, I haven't seen any national media types whinge about how RT deserved more of a chance or that Texas was wrong to let him go after two years of being full-time HC.

He will absolutely land on his feet.

His ceiling is a G5 coach. He will absolutely land somewhere in the MWC or AAC

That's because they are all watching Florida-UConn. Perfect time to release the news.

Appreciate him holding things together and for always being a class act rep of the University.

Agreed with the decision at the time, still believe it was correct. Looks like we’ll end up where we would have anyway (with Miller) and I expect he’ll put together a competitive roster immediately.

Miller isn’t good enough for some of yall, and I just wanna point out he’ll have us in the tourney every year and will recruit well. He won’t just recruit decently and have a season of WTF moments like Shaka or Terry. He may have a first round or second round bounce here and there but the upgrade will be Beard-esque. Can we do better?  CDC probably can, but I don’t know. I’m just looking at where we are particularly without Tre, and I know Miller is a massive improvement.  I don’t know much about Miller aside from the headlines, but I know his history. He seems like a Sark-type hire but with more skins on the wall as a head collegiate coach. I’d be fine with him.

Because they all knew deep down this was a bad hire and the program trajectory was zooming towards irrelevancy

This doesn't make sense.  If the upgrade is Beard-esque, we're gonna win multiple national championships, not just make the tourney every year and sometimes not get bounced in the first round.

I don't even think Miller and his momma believe he's on par with Beard.

As did every candidate Texas fans wanted - Lloyd, Self, Oats, Beard, etc. Not every coach is a Mark Few.

there’s still pining for Barnes who was the king of first and second exists his last 7 years at Texas

You mean like Beard has pretty much done outside of his title game appearance?  That run was great and Tech should’ve won. I like Beard a lot aside from his bad women judgement. But Miller has four Elite 8s. He’s not chopped liver.
