2nd showing on 512.

Their album also dropped today on Spotify.  They wrote these songs while they were still seniors at Bowie.  Then spent the next year and a half recording them in the studio, self-funding it with $ from their gigs.

The new Washed Out is pretty good if you're looking for something in the Chillwave category. Ernest is coming to Dallas in November and playing the Longhorn Ballroom. Will be time to make my maiden voyage to that venue.

The "new" Longhorn Ballroom is great. We've seen a couple or three shows there already.

Wilco with a new EP called “Hot Sun Cool Shroud”

And it’s not great on first 5 listens. Sounds like stuff that shoulda stayed on the cutting room floor from cousin.

If 49 Winchester saved their best songs for the full album release and didn't run them as lead singles, this thing is gonna elbow out Sturgill for album of the year on my end.  These lead singles have been ridiculously good.

Digging this whole album's vibe

I loved Red’s first album but he hasn’t knocked me over with anything since.  I’ll check this one out.

I think the new Red Clay Strays is going to edge them both out.  I’m in love with it.

i'm late to this, but damn good. incredibly solid band.

They are one of those bands that I really like, but never ever think to listen to them. Like it's been years probably.

First new The The album in nearly 25 years came out this week. Man, I loved these guys back in the day. The back end sounds very Nina Simone-y smooth jazzy on first listen. The first batch of songs sound like Matt’s more mellowed-out The The. Will give it more time soon.

XMU has the tendency to do that with a lot of bands.

Yeah, it was really noticeable on a road trip to Tulsa earlier this summer. We took my wife’s car and she’s got it pegged to XMU the entire time. It was the same batch of two dozen songs all the way up and all the way home. Was heard the Waxahatchee/MJ Lenderman song, which I love, at least a half-dozen times.

For awhile there this past summer, if I turned the dial to channel 35, there was about a 50/50 chance they'd be playing Sadie by Goth Babe.

Welp. I’m not liking it. The thing that made Ten so great was every word and note seemed purposeful. This song seems like any other song by any other band. Like if you heard some college guys play it at the Mohawk (not sure if still open), you would say “yeah that is kind of cool guys”.

Love PJ but that song sounds like something Bush would have recorded 30 years ago.

It’s been out a bit but Kim Gordon’s new album is amazing. No 70 year old should be releasing shit like this.

It's like Kim Gordon recorded that music video 40 years ago and said I'll write a song for it one day.

Yannis and the Yaw

Born out of a collaboration between Yannis Philippakis (Foals) and legendary drummer Tony Allen in 2016, Yannis completed the EP after Tony's death and released it this year.  I heard this on Left of the Dial instantly became hooked.

This was released almost 7 months ago, but I just now came across it.  I'm borderline obsessed.  Some weird hybrid of rap, reggae/ska, psychobilly, The Clash / Big Audio Dynamite.  (I might be overselling my description.)  Just an incredible hook.

Bad ass!
Like Talking Heads recorded a song with Bowie and Lennon

Yeah, this song totally jumped out at me. It wasn’t half over before I’d hit the “+” to add it to my Liked Songs playlist on Spotify.

He did an interview with NPR yesterday and sounds like he’s raised the possibility this will be his last album.
