I think Case's injury costs him his spot on the 53. It might be time for him to move into coaching. Would love to get him into the Texans coaching pipeline to take over Jerrod Johnson and Bobby Slowik when they move on for promotions. Same with Rod Wright.

he’s probably going to retire to a deer stand, $52 mil in career earnings

I'd love to see Metchie make the 53

Seems likely

Brown vs Woods vs Hutchinson vs Skononick seems like the bigger battle. I'd think Brown makes it, do they take a 6th?

Hah yeah you could see that coming. They want him to be around CJ and Mills as a defacto assistant QB coach; this allows without burning a roster spot unnecessarily. I think there’s enough confidence in Mills’ development to roll with him as backup.

Sounds like Hutchinson is going to make it; I like his YAC/WR reverse ability, so glad to see that. This might also mean Woods sticks; surprising keeping him over Brown but I’m onboard. Quick math looks like the cuts announced so far drop about $5.5MM from the cap number, though some of that will go to guys who aren’t in the top 53 right now….

And seven receivers although Sims will primarily be used as return man

I'm wondering if they're trying to force a team that's been waiting to pick up Pierce off waivers to trade for him

Trade value for Metchie and Pierce?

It sucks about Beck, but if he’s too hurt to participate in the preseason you have to move on. Best of luck to him. He’ll always have the kick return.

At least Kris Boyd made the team. Was worried after he got hurt on Saturday.

More excited about the Texans’ upcoming season than the Cowboys. And I’m a life-long Cowboys fan. JJ has finally made me not really care, even though I bought MFng tickets to the 9/15 game with the Saints!

My Son was born in LA and grew up a Saints fan because of Brees. His B-Day is this Saturday, so that’s it! He scoffed at our hotel arrangements the previous night in Cleburne, as we’re driving up the night before from SA (up 281). Why not around/ near the stadium Dad? It’s because it’s $300+ to sleep and get ready! Cleburne head start is better than SA for a noon KO Mfer!

I will give you a 6 pack and a bag of chips for Pearce.

I don’t get it. I know the new blocking scheme isn’t conducive for him as a back, but just looks like he sucks. If someone offers them anything, they should take it.

Welcome to the club! I’ve gone from a lifelong Cowboys and Oilers/Texans fan to an only Texans fan. I despise JJ and will actually begin cheering against the Cowboys as I find them uninteresting and uninspiring.

On the other hand, the Texans are just fun now. I love CJ and DeMeco. Despite being a little goofy, I genuinely like Cal more than I could ever like JJ. He seems to have finally gotten it. And then there is Hannah. She’s a breath of fresh air and exactly what Cal needed to transition to this new era!  This team has the feel of the early 90’s Cowboys in that they could be a year or two ahead of schedule as far as doing big things! I can’t wait to see what happens.

Sims and Pierce both made the team due to their abilities on STs. Pierce is a really good KR and averaged 32.1 last year including a TD. With the new kickoff rules, it might be worth it to keep him to handle KRs. Sims scored the only TD the Texans had in their playoff loss to Baltimore on a PR.

Mfr had to Google/MapQuest etc where Cleburne was located? Kids today don’t know paper maps, or where they’re currently located versus where they need to go. They just type in directions to a location and hit Go!

I can’t tell either of my kids to head: NSEW for anything, as they look dumbfounded.

Too much trauma of being a Houston sports fan to be this optimistic but it’s been awhile since I’ve been this excited for the Texans.

This is the first time I've ever gone into a season thinking they have even a small chance of winning the Super Bowl

I think the Chiefs are still the clear favorite in the AFC, but Houston is in the next tier

Schedule is too salty this season to end up with a good seed for the playoffs

KC, Buffalo, and Baltimore are also dealing with a first place schedule
