This may get me to break down and get an xbox.

It'll be on GamePass, so you will probably be able to play it on PC

They haven't been able to script an Indy movie worth a damn in 30 years; what makes people think the game will be any better--nostalgia?

Because in a game when the story is weak you can still have fun running around bull-whipping Nazis.

Ahh my bad, I forget not everybody has PCs. Maybe look into the steam deck?

I thought about that, but not sure. Last I looked they were maybe going to have a refresh.

A gaming desktop would be alright, but damn. I really don’t game a ton, so hate to spend that much for an hour or two here and there.

I’m redoing the living room, this year or next or over the course of both, I think. New tv, furniture. Probably paint and maybe the floors. So maybe I’ll roll it into that.

Just a few weeks ago I built a brand new gaming PC.

All in it was around 1500 I think and it can play any AAA game at 1440p at mostly maxed settings above 60 fps. Most games around 100 FPS.

I say mostly maxed because I'm not trying to run ray tracing usually. Some games I can run ray tracing and with frame generation can still be above 60 fps.

That amount includes a 1440p monitor which I did not have before. The only parts I reused from my old machine were the keyboard and mouse.

If you stay with 1080p you can build a very capable machine under 1000.

That first person whip gameplay looks spicy.
I see it's made by the same developer who made those badass Wolfenstein reboots. High hopes.

Yep, Machine is solid and I’ve heard the gameplay is very much the same. Regarding the story, I’m confident it will be a strongpoint as the emphasis is very much on the broader aspects of being Indy. So exploration, puzzles, narrative should all shine.

Todd is obsessed with the franchise and you can tell he’s spending a lot of time with the team at Machine in order to get it right.

Should have some codes for non-gamepass folks come release so feel free to ping me.

I hope they let you switch between FPS and 3rd person because playing "Uncharted: Indiana Jones" in FPS mode for the entire game is gonna suck.

But it's not Uncharted. It looks very first persony and it's made by studio that has only made FPS games so I wouldn't count on it.

Reviews are solid, which was to be expected, but I’m eager to hear thoughts from the group here.

I've got about 5 hours into it. Graphics are good, but not great. I think Uncharted 4 did better with faces.

Fun so far. FPS mode is definitely annoying sometimes (melee fights, some climbing, crawling, etc) and it switches to 3rd person view in most climbing/swinging parts, so it should have been to option to play that way.

Being forced to drop your light source whenever you swing or climb is really fucking bullshit in pitch dark areas.

Welp, I'm done until this gets patched. I already installed the first patch release and it didn't help. I can't do a "wall squeeze" anymore.

This happened in the Sukhothai trap room and during the main quest. Can't progress the game.

Weird, I'm on PC and had no problems with that area. Windows 11 24H2, 5800X3D and 3080 with 32GB of memory.

What windows OS version are you?

Same OS, about the same CPU/GPU and 64GB. But those really shouldn't matter. I had no problems with any wall squeezing shit until Sukhothai. I can travel back to previous levels and it works fine.

Just left the Vatican and off to the next big area. I really enjoyed the puzzles and tomb exploration so far, and I like that Indy isn't so tough that you don't have to worry about sneaking around.

But when you do get into a brawl, it feels great to beat up a few fascists with Indy dropping one-liners the whole time. Its great

for anyone else that runs in to the wall squeeze/ladder bug, I found a possible fix.

Go back to the village and talk to Sunan. He should tell you a story about a demon and a hungry girl, giving you the "Lost in the Past" mission. After I finished the mission (which has a wall squeeze area) I could climb ladders and do more wall squeezes. Weird bug.

I had a couple of people message me that they got the bug after completing the Lost in the Past mission, so it's not a surefire fix.

I beat it last night and am at 99% notes found, only missing 1 note from"Lost on the past" in Sukhothai. I am trying to 100% it, I only have that last achievement but the freaking notes appear bugged. They're not at the location marked on the map, and I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I ran around for probably 3 hours in one camp going up, over and below things trying to find what would trigger it before giving up.

Really loved the game though. Felt like an Indiana Jones game, and the story was pretty neat.

Best Indiana Jones game since The Fate of Atlantis

Got 100% completion yesterday after about 50 hours of gametime, but I tend to go slow and wander around a lot.  Overall I thought it was excellent.

I second everyone's sentiments.

It felt like an "old man" game to me and I loved it.

In that I mean, it respected your time (other than the weird check point save stuff). Solid story, adjustable difficulty for fighting, puzzles that weren't overly complex, and if you wanted to go 100% there are maps in game that you can buy with in game money to show you everything.

I could pick it up and put it down as time permitted. I really enjoyed it.

I did not enjoy whatever producer forced the airplane mission on us. That felt confusing, needless, and rushed.
