Katie RogersReporting from the trail with Jill Biden

I talked to some voters at Jill Biden’s Tampa event. Madison Janner, 20, who lives in St. Petersburg, Fla., said that she was not sure that she would vote for President Biden given the aftermath of the debate.

“Honestly that’s part of the reason I came here,” she said. “I do feel like I need some reassurance right now. I’m a registered Democrat, and I personally thought I was going to vote for Biden, but I don’t know what to think at this point.”

She added, “What would reassure me is seeing our president perform and not someone coming out for him.”

Why only Latinos ?

Are there more to these clips, because I watched both and never heard the words Medicare, social security, Project 2025 or Latinos?

This is, of course, fucking stupid. If any of this was true you and all of your little republican friends would line up behind and love Biden, because you would be gleeful to know you can beat him. But you can't beat him so your only move is to troll and lie.

If Biden truly was inept you'd want him on the ballot. You wouldn't be trying to gaslight everyone into replacing him before he can beat trump.

Took away my father’s keys. Alzheimer’s. Worst day of my life.

It’s terrible. I lost my aunt to early onset vascular dementia (genetic) last year and my grandmother to a separate kind of dementia in 2018. I’m not suggesting the President has either type of dementia. But at some point we will all have to have this conversation with a loved one. It’s heartbreaking. On a positive note they have shown with the results of a 5 year study which will be released later this summer that exercise, eating a largely plant based diet, doing cognitive exercises and being social with loved ones has shown better results in 40% of the participants (that were in that study) and may help decrease the acceleration of the disease. Which was heartening to hear. I watched Dr Sanjay Gupta’s special last night. That radical lifestyle change works better than any meds available so there is a small glimmer of hope for some patients.

i think TPTB (elite or not-the powers that be) will yank Biden off the stage. The info keeps dribbling out. The WH presser today with KJP was largely contentious regarding exactly how many times the particular Parkinson/neurology specialist has come to the White House and did he see Biden all those times even if signed into to see two other people (one is the WH physician.) the most contentious exchange happened between KJP and a CBS reporter.

if he does not step off the stage gracefully I fear he will be thrown off. If it is shown that a disease has been covered up (particularly from the delegates who voted for him) it will be disastrous. TPTB play hard ball. If he won’t exit gracefully they will destroy him to ensure that Trump doesn’t win and in their view destroy the country. Shitshow.

It’s depressing. No one wants to see this. It’s a moment without hope. For Joe. Jmo.

How will they replace lifetime appointed justices?

Joe Biden can place an order that he be given personal control of an armed drone, take out whatever SCOTUS justices he sees fit, and it's legal now.

Must be nice for some people to live in an idealistic world while the rest of us are forced to live in reality.

There is no panacea.  No utopia. No dystopia.  No 1984.  No idealistic world.  No reality.

The tower enacted punitive rules on pro-Palestinian rallies last week only to try to encourage them now next when Biden is town on BoR orders.

We finally get literate and have open access to all the information of humanity.  And we’re just spinning in circles, surrounded by people chanting how stupid they are.

We will not be saved by anyone.  Something has to turn us off and turn on again.  85 years of relative global peace is about to up in smoke.  See y’all on the dark side of the moon.

I refuse to be a part of any political discourse that holds one candidate to a different standard than the other. I refuse to sit by and watch people talk about Biden being unfit while the alternative candidate is a raving lunatic. I refuse to watch or consume any of this concern trolling that is happening in the media, who is only concerned with dividing so that they can make more money for their shareholders.

Pardon me, but your “refusal” implies that you are privileged enough to escape the consequences should Trump win.

A whole lot of noise. Excepting a resignation, is there a path forward that does not have Biden as nominee? We’re fucked.

The delegates could change their vote. Delegates are “supposed” to honor the voters in their states. Here’s the language in the Democratic party rules for the 2024 convention: “All delegates to the National Convention pledged to a presidential candidate shall in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.”

if for instance it is learned that Biden has Parkinson’s or other type of neurological condition and withheld that from voters when he decided to run and was getting delegates, I would think that would release the delegates’ from voting for Biden. If they went to their voters and said if you knew X then would you have voted for him?
it does appear to be trending in the direction many want in an open primary. But he could step aside. He may not. But the 3,949 pledged delegates and the some $220,000,000 are his/KH’s. That’s my understanding.

So what I am reading is that all of our Biden is too old issues could be solved if one of us can convince him to have a drink on Rainey street.

If he has Parkinson’s then they would be justified in doing that.

First Schumer and now Jeffries. So much for congressional leadership applying pressure on Biden to step down. Unless he swallows his tongue at his “big boy” press conference on Thursday, I think we have our Democratic Party nominee.

I understand this is the DOOM thread, but if people will put away their pussies and get out and vote, we can win.  Biden, Harris, Whitmer, whomever.  If we don't, we have no one to blame but ourselves.  This isn't hard.

Tell your friends, tell your family, post it on the internet.  We aren't voting for the man (or woman).  We are voting against fascism.  Period.

Point taken, but I honestly think a lot of people have reached the 6th Stage of Grief.... what I like to call the "fuck it" stage.

Truth. Vote. Vote early. Election Day should be a federal holiday. I don’t know though if I’ve ever seen a campaign despite people saying they’d vote for a dead skunk over Trump, that’s ever worked where the party is saying, “it doesn’t matter who is at the top of the ticket it’s a vote against X.” It would be like committing to a church where you like the building and the congregation and everything about it but not know who the preacher is going to be or be like. Sure you want to fight Satan and your only choices are stay at home, go hang with the devil or go to this one church. I don’t know that it will draw in enough independents to beat Trump. He’s not bringing in many new voters and likely won’t after the convention but Biden is dropping voters. And the fear is people will sit on their hands. Maybe they won’t maybe the Repub convention will scare them. It’s not easy to predict bc this shit has never happened before,

Everyone is just tired of everything being a fucking existential threat since covid. It's a beating. We are staring down the barrel of a liquidity crisis, a commercial real estate crisis, a public debt crisis, a corporate debt crisis, stubborn inflation, creeping unemployment, an obesity epidemic, a constitutional crisis everything is a fucking confusing and fucked up mess.

What we need is for Biden to become a little less presidential and let him be the unpolished joe he is behind closed doors. His call where he calls out the Democrat elite in what seems like a small setting where he can speak without being careful was fucking lit.

I mean, all that shit has been brewing for a decade plus at this point. It's the chickens coming home to fuckin roost after the economic coke bender that we've been on of near zero interest and incredible growth in wealth inequality
