we don’t have kings. People vote. And people voted already. Levin is telling Biden to ignore the voters.

The antidemocratic position is taking the choice away from the voters who have selected their nominee for president.

People have voted for a nominee is fundamentally impaired relative to who he was six months ago.  Let's exaggerate your position a little bit--you think the Dems should run the same ticket if Biden was diagnosed with Alzheimer's today, just because they had a primary election that concluded a month ago?

I'm not suggesting we try to run the country by polls, but the VOTERS are saying "hey, that vote we cast?  We'd like to take it back."  To ignore that is a great way to lose the election.

No they haven’t. Just because you only started paying attention for 15 mins during the debate doesn’t make him impaired.

He doesn’t have Alzheimer’s so it’s irrelevant. He’s not mentally unfit so that’s a terrible example.

Levin can say what he thinks, but his position supports taking the vote away from the voters. That is the very definition of anti democratic

The fact that some are pretending the Dems had a real primary in the first place is laughable.

Quick, name another candidate from the Dem primaries?

Marianne Williamson. She and the others got 14 million less votes than Joe Biden combined.
Just because you don’t know who else ran doesn’t mean they didn’t run.

This is your opinion, and you're welcome to it, but we wouldn't be hearing leaks from insiders if there wasn't concern within the party.

You guys are the ones talking about how important this election is, yet you're ok running a clearly impaired Joe Biden when people within and without the party are raising the alarm.

Interesting strategy that I give about a 5% chance of succeeding.  I think Kamala raises it to 15% and Whitmer 25%.

This thread is pretty pointless now.  Everyone's regurgitating the same takes, myself included.  Nobody's mind is being changed, and no one here has any real insight or pull to influence what the Democratic party does.  Its not even a debate about what the best course of action is anymore.  It's about having a refuge so as to maintain morale and having reinforcement that everything is on track.  If ya'll need that, who am I to deny it?

My only hope is that the people that do have insight and influence are acting accordingly and making the best decisions.  That they seem pretty non committal and divided on Joe's future does not instill confidence in me that things are under control and going according to plan.  That also aligns with what I've personally witnessed from Biden at the debate and yesterday.

But hey, by all means, keep the faith.

In like two weeks people will have been conditioned to just know that Biden is old as fuck. You guys seem to think that social media and the two second attention span of the average person only benefits conservatives.

You keep saying clearly impaired. Either you haven’t paid attention or you’re lying. Hes been old, he hasn’t been impaired unless you use those two words interchangeably.

And here we go again, you want your specific preferred candidate because fascism isnt that big of a deal for you.

Perhaps, I wasn't clear.  The question was in terms of telling people who they had to vote for.  Independents aren't a party, so we don't get to choose the nominees.  Meaning we either vote R, D, or stay home.

For me, the GQP is hopeless, so voting R is not an option, and Dems are basically telling independents to support a candidate they don't like or shut the fuck up.  Which is their right.  But some of us don't think Biden can win and are putting forth other options, within the Dem party, that we think would have a better chance to beat Trump by motivating independents.

And we're greeted by people like @Js1 and @hobbes2702, who are basically telling us we suck, we're trolls, or that there's no such thing as an independent.  Which is their right but make no mistake, the Dems need independents more than independents need them.

You have four years of results from both individuals right now to base your decision on for both the Presidency and future makeup of Supreme Court and you think it’s more important to get your dick sucked as an “independent” who hasn’t voted for a Republican in 20 years.

No that's an LOL.

Yep, you proved me wrong.  Marianne Williamson, the author who's never held public office, totally had a legit opportunity to unseat Joe.

It’s almost like Democratic voters wanted the guy who they voted for as President to run again or something. Weird.

Its very cute that you think there’s someone who had a legit opportunity to unseat the sitting president.

Is it still getting your dick sucked if it’s self fellatio. At some point that’s more like giving head than receiving I bet.

Get a fucking grip. If you actually watched the debate or any public appearances after you wouldn’t post this. The reality of what’s going on with Biden is he’s old. He’s not senile, he’s not gonna die tomorrow. It’s the exact same reality it was in 2020 with less hair.

I never said Biden was senile. You are conflating my concerns about his age with some MAGA asshole who is calling Biden senile. This does a great disservice to anyone who has an opinion about Biden’s age because it brands them as being disloyal to the party and against the pursuit of preserving democracy for questioning Biden’s age. We all saw what we saw at the debate and some people in the Democratic Party have finally decided to do something even if it pisses off hardline Biden loyalists.

Nope.  Already stated I'm voting Dem, but I live in Texas.

My concern comes from conversations with friends in swing states, and polling showing independents are not enthusiastic about voting for Biden.  Period.

As a Texas voter, I ultimately have no say in the matter.  My preference for Whitmer is as much electoral geography as anything else.

Anyway, off to drink bourbon at Still Austin.

I'll be wearing a tee for the band Michigander if anyone wants to meet up to discuss further over a bourbon.  I'll buy the first round.

Texas is one of the ten closest states and will be decided by less than 5 points.

No shit there wasn’t. Because too many people voted for Joe for president, and then were happy with his presidency.
Acting like the voters didn’t choose their candidate is flat incorrect. Taking that choice away from them is undemocratic.

There was nothing stopping Whitmer or anyone else from running, other than the not having voters thing.

Old, impaired, whatever.  You appear to be quite confident of his mental fitness.  I guess you're one of the 30% of Americans that doesn't think he's too old.

The problem from an electoral standpoint is you're a minority.

Some of us thought he was too old four years ago.

Ironically, some of us also voted for the dude older than Joe Biden.

Ahhhh, politics.

No i absolutely think he’s too old as I’ve said many many times on this website. He’s not impaired. Those words don’t mean the same thing.

Im not presuming anything. I’m simply pointing out that throwing their votes away is not democratic. I’m not sure how you can think otherwise.

Historical question: has there ever been a primary on the incumbent side that’s ever unseated the incumbent?

Nope! An incumbent President has never lost their primary in modern US history.

Even Jimmy Carter won his primary and then he lost in the general election cause most of America didnt want him. Reminds me of this election a lot actually.

Maybe you should worry about the talking points that adversely affect those that are less fortunate than you

Slam dunk with the Donald “Herbert Hoover” Trump, injecting bleach in the arm, Hannibal Lecter, RAPED HER, RAPIST, bankruptcy and failed casinos even though the house should win reference. The gloves are off. I like this Spicy Joe. If he’s gonna ramble, let’s fucking let him do it for 11,780 minutes to fuck with Trump.

I disagree that he is clearly "impaired" and I completely disagree with your numbers.  So, where does that put us?  Is it OK to disagree or are you fucking omnipotent?
