If Biden goes scorched earth on Trump between now and then, I'm down.

I don't care if he's tired.  I don't care about his schedule.  Whip that horse down the stretch.  If he dies, he dies.  I don't care.  Biden signed up for this.  Do it.

100% agree.

If he's going to stay in the race, the keep pumping him full of stimulants until he either wins the election or dies trying.

Really?  Ok.  Perhaps you could synthesize there arguments for me, because they mostly sound like ad hominem attacks.

However, I'd be happy to respond to your interpretation.

(1) Biden isn't mentally impaired, at least not in the sense that he can't do the job or function normally. He is mentally diminished from his prime or even a few years ago. He is old and doesn't function well when tired. And his age makes him tired more often. However, he is still completely capable of functioning at a higher level than vast majority of the populace.

(2) Democrats shouldn't be choosing their candidates based upon courting so called "independents". Independents are not reliable voters. Those that are, are generally GOP voters who largely feign at being independent. Instead, Democrats should choose their candidates based upon the choice of Democrats.

If you want my opinion, Biden is old, not "impaired" or senile. I think he has been the best President of the last 40 years, and perhaps the most important one. Despite that, I would have preferred someone younger to have won the nomination. Unsurprisingly, that didn't happen. That said, I think all the focus on trying to replace Biden at this late hour by certain Democrats is entirely panic induced and self defeating. There was never a realistic shot of rallying the democrat's base around any other candidate at this point. The party is too diverse with too many different views for that to happen. And trying to change to another candidate to court less enthusiastic and reliable independents isn't a viable path to winning the election either. The only option is to rally around Biden just as the GOP has rallied behind Trump.

Nothing.

Had Hillary been like this, she'd be president today.  Donald Trump is a fraud at everything he's done in life and was literally pitching for Godfather's Pizza before he got a reality show.  Hillary was too polite.

Ok, this is delusional. Hilary literally called him a Russian puppet. Her problem wasn't being polite.

Hillary ran a shitty campaign and treated him with kid gloves because she was afraid of offending his supporters.

She called them "a basket of deplorables". You sure you were awake in 2016?

This. Pump him full of V (True Blood V not The Boys V) and let him call out Trump as the rapist, traitor and general criminal that he is.

I sure hope some of these Quidiots are making bank with these hot takes.  That said, I look forward to our new Declaration of Independence from the Current United States that spells out VP requirements, because it will help free up excess verbiage in the new Constitution of the New United States.  Or something.  Is JFK Jr able to sign from the drink off Martha's Vineyard or did they ever bring his body up?

1. I'm not a doctor, nor an expert on the subject but I we clearly see things differently.  Either way, saying "he's just an old man" doesn't inspire much confidence either.

2. I get the point, but this isn't a normal election with normal consequences.

I tend to look at things in unemotional and practical terms.  I see the election as a marketplace, where the electorate is the consumer, and the parties are sales organizations designed to get the electorate to buy their product (candidate) instead of the competitor's product.

One party is selling a dystopian future, and the other is selling us a near cadaver.  Really?  That's the best we can do as a country?  If so, maybe we don't deserve to exist and should just commit seppuku by not voting and letting Trump take over.

What I describe as the 6th Stage of Grief...

That's fine if that is what you believe. It is objectively wrong, but whatever. If the democrats picked the candidate you wanted, maybe you'd vote for them. The problem is that all your other so called independents want different candidates. There is no one person the democrats could pick that are likely to engage enough independent turnout to make up for lost core dem enthusiasm by dropping their elected candidate. I'm not sure why you don't grasp that. The other independents are not you.

But, sure, if you want to destroy the country in a tantrum because *checks notes* Biden is old, then obviously you're the type of mature voter this country needs.

Every “I’m a cold, rational, independent voter who likes to actually think about things instead of just join a team” dipshit has an IQ of 85.

I'm curious.  What % of Democrats do you think are voting specifically FOR Biden, and not just AGAINST Trump?

IE what portion of the Democratic voters would choose not to vote, or vote Trump, if Biden were no longer the nominee?

And your last sentence is enigmatic of the Democratic Party... trying to appeal to logic rather than emotion.  Bold strategy with the country's future on the line, but what the heck, let's roll the dice and see what happens.

Sir, what gives you the right to have an opinion on the machinations of the Democratic party? You are not even a member!

I however am a member and my opinion also means nothing like yours. So there is that.

The egg on alot of your faces tonight is great and the backpedaling on Biden as a nominee will turn into meandering and whispers. A lot of you just wasted two weeks of your life, and until you recognize that and agree with me you are Republicans until then. See how fun it is to read shit like that?

His entire presidency has been about riding waves of momentum and creating your own. From the lingering “recession is right around the corner” bullshit in inflation threads to “incoming red wave” bullshit in midterm threads to the immigration battle that ended with the Trump’s bullshit telling his minions to vote against the strongest bill they’ve seen against. More individual Americans are affected by loan forgiveness than independents wanting credit and attention. Capturing the biggest voter share you can from 2020 is key and the tossup states Biden won expanded those rights.

Biden can repeat his attack on Trump 3x a day to a question about his favorite color and it will always be the right move.

That last paragraph is perplexing. You literally just posted that independents like yourself (which btw I count as) "tend to look at things in unemotional and practical terms." And yet your argument now is that the democratic candidate should be appealing to emotion. You're yoyoing back fourth demonstrates my point: trying to target fickle independent voters like you isn't something that can reliably win a significant portion of the electorate. Instead, they need to target the largest portion of their base that they can reliably move and hope that folks yourself are eventually moved to join along.

I do agree that a vote for Biden is primarily a vote against Trump. That's precisely why I think Democrats are weakening themselves by trying to replace Biden at this stage. All it does is damper enthusiasm and create potential splits in the party. There is no other candidate the party as a whole is going to rally behind more than Biden. Trying to replace him is just going to create competing interests where some large portion of voters will feel left out and not vote. Their best bet to win the bulk of their base is to rally behind Biden.

Any way Biden can repeat that almost word for word every damn day for the next four months please?

Trump rapes women and has filed bankruptcy six times even including a casino! Convicted criminal.

Say it over and over and over.

*Random question about his age*

Yeah anyways, did you hear Trump has over 100 photos with Jeffrey Epstein and rapes women?

It’s baffling that wasn’t his play from the minute the debate ended (and during the debate).  Every question about him should be answered with “my opponent is a bankrupt rapist criminal fraudster who tried a coup.  Why are you asking me about my age?”

Im glad to see Biden had a good night and I am still voting for him, but what I saw during the debate was horrifying.  Gonna take a lot more evidence to convince me that he’s fit for office.  No one over 75 should be eligible to be President.

Yeah, this is how you do interviews in the post trump world. It sucks, but it’s all you ever see from the MAGA idiots and clearly it works

Also “you know Jake that’s a very good question. We have added millions of jobs, tamed inflation, and lowered the debt despite Trumps biggest tax cut in history for the ultra rich and record deficit spending. Plus I don’t rape, defraud the public, and try to violently overthrow our country” would probably be a good pat answer
