2024 Presidential Election Thread - Let's keep the party going.

As a student of history, I’m looking forward to a civics lesson on how all this plays out. Kamala is being endorsed! This is huge. So I guess the process now is to call all the delegates? Biden releases his delegates and they will pledge to her? How many does she need? Still waiting to see what Nancy Pelosi says. Will she push for the mini primary which would be huge mistake or will everyone fall in line as we all want to happen? This past 8 days has been crazy af.

Challenge what? Primaries are private affairs.

I'm not saying I would lol

Court cases would go through DC circuit anyway as I understand which would likely tell a challenger to pound sand. I suppose it depends on how brazen SCOTUS is feeling.

The party had to coalesce around Joe Biden to stop Bernie Sanders from winning a primary

That’s one narrative.  Another is Biden was going to win all along.  Pete wins Iowa and drops out before Super Tuesday?!? Klob pulled a similar thing with NH?! Bloomberg comes in to have Warren destroy him and her in the process… that primary was nuts… lots of storylines but the most likely outcome (Biden/Harris) in the beginning miraculously became the end result.  Dems displayed dark lord competency in that primary.

But it would be his record not Kamala, I don't think people realize what they threw away, all because of what could be a hissy fit, the same people saying he is too old could very well say she is too woman and too black. People love excuses to say why they are such a unique snowflake. Is it real or is it bullshit? we are about to find out.

Delegates will remain open until the convention. They cannot be pledged prior.

He will in the near future. Just giving Joe his day

Not opposed to letting the rank and file come out first so it doesn’t look like leadership / the Obamas forced the issue

I’m very pleased, pleasantly surprised, the last few hours.

Sometimes you just have to rip the bandaid off. I know you more than anyone on this thread has a lot at stake in this election. I truly think this is our best chance of winning whereas before I was completely resigned to a 2nd Trump term.

Just talking to people who are partisan Dems, but who were very dispirited—that’s all over now. They’re super-energized and ready to go.

In related happy news, I am so getting laid tonight.

In the Woodward book on Biden the section on how this played out is going to be amazing

Sadly, actually reading it is going to be like dragging sand paper across an eyeball. He may get the best access, but Bernstein was the writer of the two.

Whitmer will not throw her hat in the ring. Honestly with this still being an underdog's position and the groundswell of support, I'd expect other headline names like Newsome or Shapiro to also do the same. Align around Harris as the best chance to beat Trump this cycle, take your shot in 2028 if she loses.

Yeah, you want to challenge the sitting black female VP - good luck to them. Black voters may not forgive them

Black women have carried this party for too long, it’s time they get to lead it.

You’re goddamned right. From the back of the bus to driving the bus in a couple of generations, and I’m all for it.
Any Kamala parody porn out there?

Parody?

Out.
Exactly. Flood the zone with shit.

Thisthisthisthis. The Dem plan and path has to be relentless messaging and attack. You never defend if you’re always attacking. The fate of the republic is at stake, how about we fucking fight like it is?

Give here the ol' Sleepy Joe as tribute.

Like GOLL has what it takes to perform at that high a level.

Don’t worry about the $100m in political donations tied to Biden. If they can’t be used Immamac has assured me that 100 surly posters will each step up with $1m each.

Supposedly Obama is not going to endorse anyone and then back the nominee. That was just a talking head on CNN

The timing of this is excellent. The last images of Trump was his ridiculous, droning lie-fest at the RNC. Seventy-two hours later the news cycle is nothing but Biden's courage in putting the country first and the systematic support of Democrats of VP Harris. A steady rolling out of endorsements over the next 24 hours will be beautiful to watch.

I bet they’ve taken his phone away

Obama knows what he's doing. He wants to be the final say on the legitimacy of the nominee so he will wait until that happens.

I had no confidence the Dems could transition this properly. But damn they are.

Senator coons is just pouring accolades on Biden and Harris both his record and her ability to lead.

its one after the other. EVERYONE is coming out and speaking.

I'm loving the irony of Republicans lamenting that this move is 'subverting the will of democratic voters'.  I mean, that never stopped y'all before?

Well Obama can't run so I wasn't really referring to him lol.

I'd love to be able to put him on the ballot. He'd hang 350 EVs on Trump.
