2024 Presidential Election Thread - Let's keep the party going.

Here’s the deal.  Trump turns off more voters than he turns on.  Some of the ones he turns on, they are in it for the bigotry.  They want blacks to get to the back of the bus, women to get back to the kitchen and gays to go back in the closet.

Middle of the road voters who could go either way do NOT support those bigoted views.  They just aren’t tuned in/informed enough to recognize that project 2025 is aiming to do just that.  The Republican Party has been commandeered by its darkest fringe, and you can see how that fringe are revealing themselves in response to having to deal with a black and female opponent who is young, an excellent communicator and unafraid of their hate.  Just by being her genuine self, she disproves all of the racist and sexist stereotypes that many Republicans are reacting to.

Put Pete on the ticket, he’s even better at disproving homophobic stereotypes just by being who he naturally is.  Make them deal with having a black female Presidential candidate AND a gay vice Presidential candidate.  The racist, sexist and homophobic jeering from the right will drive normal middle of the road voters straight to the Dems.

Just get the secret service functional first.

Saying "college sorority" is like saying "I'm going to my sleeping bed" or "I'm going to my sitting couch"

There appears to be a distinction between the sitting and fucking couch.

Just keep talking....

Their nominee has had a billion affairs while being married to his various wives. Some of whom were porn stars (the mistresses, not the wives, I don’t think). He’s been found liable for sexual abuse, and has been accused of assault by dozens of women. You sure you want to bring sex into this, morons?

Makes me wanna sing the Campbell Soup song, especially when you add Whitmer, Moore, Newsome, Colorado governor, Polis, Katie Porter, Osoff, Warnock…

It still amazes me that these fuckheads continue to refuse to say her name correctly. It's not "Ka MAH luh" and they fucking well know it. It's just a dog whistle so they can tell who's in their stupid cult (and so I can tell who is a stupid moron I can immediately dismiss).

Maybe something, maybe nothing.

Mark Kelly has flipped his position on the PRO Act (Protecting the Right to Organize Act) from no to yes.

I kind of prefer Beshear, who always been a bigger friend to labor unions, but yeah....

African Americans, Women and Homosexuals who have attained success are very experienced at living with, coping with, and thriving in spite of being the object of hatred.  They will be far more adept at being calm amongst this storm than a white man or woman.  After all, it's a storm that they have lived with their entire lives.  Put Pete on the ticket and let him and Kamala be the light that exposes the emboldened hatred that has taken root on the right to middle-of-the road voters.  As you have seen with Kamala, they will respond.  Most centrists are good people who are just trying to make sense of what is going on in this country so as to make the best decision they can in November.

If Trump decided he needed a white man on his ticket, and so did Bush and Clinton and Bush and Reagan and keep going back almost 250 years…. What’s that called? They were all chosen because they were white men. But pick a black woman and it’s “DEI”. Oh ok.

Yeah, when Harris picks a white man, is that DEI?  (Technically, yes, it is.  Welcome to the history of American politics.)

Hate to tell you, but there’s no way Pete makes the ticket.  Oh, they’re going to promote the shit out of him and other “contenders” but the reality is this VP decision was likely made sometime in the near past.  Pete can be Pete without being VP.  He’s going to be a formidable presidential contender in the future regardless.

I agree. The zeitgeist will determine when.

No one called it DEI when Palin was picked in 2008

It just stupid.

He needs to be front and center regardless. Him and Ted Lieu need to be unleashed.

So here's the thing about astronauts--kinda nobody idolizes astronauts anymore.  At least not like we did in the Mercury and Apollo days.

Except in Florida.

Astronaut-worship is still a thing in Florida--particularly in that triangle between Orlando, Daytona Beach, and Vero Beach (Dodgertown!).  And I don't know how many votes that gets you.  Maybe none.  But I do think it means that there is a penalty in Florida for going hard after Kelly in a way that there wouldn't be for going hard against, for example, Andy Basheer.

He’s also a combat veteran.

Trump campaign puts out an internal of them +2 in PA and winning Allegheny County.

A Republican hasn’t won Allegheny since Nixon. Reagan didn’t even win it in 84!

So that’s a lie of a poll

Allegheny is going to be like 70-30 for Harris. Some of the largest leftward shifts in the country recently.
