fucking lunacy that all these never trumpers just pretend that shit they said  years ago didnt happen. Even  crazier that Vance somehow was chosen as Trumps running mate with those many statements on record. And complete batshit crazy that  it doesnt bother a  single  republican. Yet here we are.

It would not shock me in the slightest if the Supreme Court ruled that all RFK votes in all states should be added to the Trump vote counts.  Plus 10% extra votes just cause people may have been confused by the ballot.  Fox News will then say this is the right thing to do and CNN will try and play neutral on it except Scott Jennings who will cry about how great the Supreme Court is to do something so bold.

You are a sick human being.  How dare you put that scenario in my head.

What is 1LT McCain doing with sergeant's stripes.  And why isn't he in the US Navy?  McCain is USN royalty.

ETA:  Well, he's been in the Army for 17 years, so mustang, I guess, albeit a very slow one.  What a fuckup given the family pedigree.

I was curious about this too. Based on this info I think he just did things the hard way by enlisting in the Marine Corps right out of high school.

James McCain enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 in 2006. He served with 1st Battalion 1st marines as an infantry rifleman in Iraq during the surge of 2007. He served in Afghanistan in 2014 as a squad leader in the infantry and oversaw the Guardian Angel missions around Kabul. After returning home he received his master’s degree in history from Trinity College Dublin. James currently has been accepted to attend OCS and become an officer in U.S. Army Intelligence. Lyndon Johnson and the "Johnson Treatment"

Black and white photo of Lyndon Johnson leaning his head and starring intently at Theodore Green, who is backing away Lyndon Johnson and Theodore Green / George Tames, 1957 /
Gelatin silver print / National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution,
gift of Frances O. Tames / © The New York Times/George Tames

In 1955, with only seven years of seniority, Johnson was elected Senate majority leader. Through his successful courting of the “old bulls” of the “southern caucus,” particularly Richard Russell of Georgia, Johnson controlled the agenda of the Senate as no majority leader has before or since.

Another element of his mastery was the “Johnson treatment,” as displayed here with Senator Theodore Green of Rhode Island. Newspaper columnist Mary McGrory described it as “an incredible, potent mixture of persuasion, badgering, flattery, threats, reminders of past favors and future advantages”; Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee recalled feeling that “a St. Bernard had licked your face for an hour, [and] had pawed you all over”; and Hubert Humphrey described it as a “tidal wave.” Johnson’s most notable victory as majority leader was the passage of the 1957 Civil Rights Act, the first such legislation since Reconstruction.

Rachael Penman of the National Museum of Crime and Punishment discussed this photograph by George Tames, along with other images of Lyndon Johnson, at a Face-to-Face portrait talk. The 1957 photograph is on view at the National Portrait Gallery, in the exhibition “Presidents in Waiting” on the museum’s second floor.

^^^ This guy's son was in my unit in Okinawa (also named James Day, IIRC).  He was either a captain or Lt at the time but had enlisted right out of high school, which makes sense given that the dad was enlisted as well.  It you really want to have a bulletproof resume -- in front of both enlisted and officers -- in the military that'll do it.

There was a thread on F16 about some dumbass aggie reminiscing about Herbert Hoover getting 40% of the vote, after a great depression 40% of the people still voted for him, obviously haven't posted there in decades but wanted to slap him over the head with the obvious parallel he missed, that 40% is not Kamala Harris, that 40% is a deep seated reactionary rot brained mentality, it is borne from an extreme addiction to hate and nothing will ever reason with that, hate is what they want like heroin.

JD Vance is an opportunist techbro, I know the type I mingle with them, they look down on idiots like Donald Trump and MAGA, they are so radioactive and weird that their only political home is in the party of hate. Because that party only cares about one thing and that is make liberals cry, not make techbros cry (they also look down on them) but libs. Denazification is the only solution going forward.

Plus, it's easier to be prior service and join the Army (or ANG or AR) from another service.  When I came through basic, we had several prior-service members (Navy, AF, Marines), but I honestly haven't heard of anybody going the other way (from Army to another service). I'm sure it happens, well maybe. I just know that prior service coming into the Army had to go through regular basic.  One of the ex-Marines I knew had been a comms guy in the Marines, and after basic, I don't think he had to go through AIT in the Army (I could be wrong, but I seem to remember his MOS was comms-related and he was  going straight to his unit).

You think THIS is what they’re finally bothered by?

Some are definitely bothered in general by the orange cunt. And like I said, we’ll see how many in November.

I hope it’s enough. I mean hell he lost the popular vote by what 6m votes and however many electoral votes in 20?

Seems like she has at least as much energy as fucking Biden did then.

The thing is that she could have kept her mouth shut and said very little, or at the most not make people think she'll still vote for Trump.

Really fucking stupid on her part, given the shit he's talked about her dad.

She didn't have to say "well I'm still a Republican you know blah blah blah blah" because everybody assumes she will vote for Trump.

The below is long but I copied it from someone I know who just posted this shit on Facebook.  Shit like the below is why this country is screwed.  Many of you will say this person is a racist or Fascist but I just think they are just brainwashed by the media and believe this shit.  We seem to be in the middle of a giant psychological experiment in this country and seeing what TV/Radio and social media can do to people’s brains and it’s frightening.   Below is why people continue to vote for Trump even though pretty much everything in there is false and laughable if it didn’t piss me off and frighten me at the gullibility of people in this country to believe anything they see or hear.  Also, the below will be copied and pasted a million times on Facebook and other places and it will convince people to vote for Trump that may not have.  It probably swings more votes than a TV ad at this point.

“Someone recently asked me why I like Trump. My answer was that I don't really like a lot of things about Trump.

He’s not my pastor or spiritual leader. I’m voting for a platform. But this election is not about choosing the most likeable person.

We are voting between two vastly different ideologies. We are voting for the country we want to leave our children and grandchildren.

Trump represents that future and has proven that he can deliver. He is a patriot to the core and even served his country for 4 years without pay.

That moment when someone says,
"I can't believe you're voting for Trump". I simply reply, “I'm NOT voting for Trump.”

I'm voting for the First Amendment and freedom of speech. I'm voting for the right to speak my opinion and not be censored.

I’m voting for secure borders and LEGAL immigration. I am voting for election integrity to include mandatory voter ID.  (Why would anyone vote against this?)

I'm voting for the Second Amendment and my right to defend my life and my family.

I'm voting for the police to be respected once again.

I am voting for law & order and an end to allowing protesters to trespass and burn our cities, destroying innocent small business. (Tim Walz)

I am voting for personal responsibility and the end of the revolving door where criminals are being put back on the street. (Kamala Harris)

I'm voting for the next Supreme Court Justice(s) to protect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I’m voting for a return of our troops from foreign countries and the end to America’s involvement in foreign conflicts.

I'm voting for the Electoral College and for the Republic in which we live.

I’m voting for the continued appointment of Federal Judges who respect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I’m voting for keeping our jobs to remain in America and not be outsourced all over the world - to China, Mexico and other foreign countries.

I am voting for doing away with all of the freebies given to all of the illegals and not looking after the needs of the American citizens and homeless veterans.

I'm voting for the military & the veterans who fought for this country

I'm voting to keep men out of women's sports.

I’m voting for peace progress in the Middle East.

I’m voting to fight against human/child trafficking.

I'm voting for Freedom of Religion.

I am voting for the return of teaching math, history, and science instead of the indoctrination of our children.

I'm not just voting for one person.
I'm voting for the future of my Country.

I'm voting for my children and my grandchildren to ensure their freedoms

America is the greatest country in the world, hense why everyone wants to immigrate here. So why do you want to change it?

Why do politicians want to enact policies that have failed in other countries throughout history?

I'm not voting for Trump.
I'm voting for America.”

Anyone who says some fucking moronic shit like this is just trying to justify why they're voting for Trump, because:

1) Trump didn't do any of this shit his first time around

2) Trump doesn't belive in any of this shit unless you're wealthy,  white,  and male

3) Trump doesn't really want to do any of this shit.  The dems want this more than trump

4) Trump isn't the one making policy decisions at all,  he's just trading favors for power

5) Trump didn't do any of this shit while in office

6) Trump blocked any efforts to do any of this shit when he was not in office because he wouldn't get credit for it

7) Trump did virtually nothing while in office except hook up his stakeholders

8)Trump doesn't care about any of this shit

9) Trump is just selling raffles to power brokers

10) Trump doesn't give a fuck about any of this shit

11) Trump never put forth a rational policy on his own that reflects any of this shit

12) Trump will appease all of his power brokers to get elected and then doesn't care about any of this shit

13) Trump tried to overthrow the fucking government that actually wants to address these issues,  but because they're not his people,  he fucking sits on his hands about any of this shit

14) Trump doesn't even know what most of this shit means

15) I only begged the idea of your previous post,  since you can't seem to provide any push back to ask your Trumpy fucking friends

16) Trump couldn't care less about any of this shit

17) Trump had every opportunity to show he did in his term as president

18) Trump cares nothing for laws,  or order, unless it has something to do with him being able to misinterpret them into something that benefits him

19) Trump is a moron that knows nothing of these policies, unless it is in his benefit

20) Trump would never make any policy happen unless it stonework benefitted him through money or power

21) anyone who didn't challenge this shit with multiple fronts and complete obliteration of Trump actually having enough character to even intend for this to happen for some sort of ethos, without some sort of self enrichment,   needs to have the shit kicked out of him in hopes it awakens some long since dormant portion of the brain,  needs to be rebuffed until every sentence that comes out of his mouth in that person's presence results in a complete brain injury causing beating

And

22) I was not begging you,  just the overly-simplistic  thought that you allow those believe to reddish unchallenged in your presence,  and allow the speaker of these words tu be able to vote without them having to have an aide to read it to them because they have toomuch tbi to be able to read it themselves...

23) or Something of that nature

White pols have been doing this for literally decades.  You see someone who has went to elite academic institutions who now talks like an auto mechanic from Bumblefuck, Alabama.

Yep.  George W. Bush in the 80s sounded like a fast-talking Ivy League-educated attorney/businessman, and it cost him an election in West Texas when his opponent successfully painted him as a fast-talking Ivy Leaguer from New England.  Fast-forward into the 90s and  his first couple of debates with Ann Richards, he still did the fast-talking thing with a command of the...(mostly) facts at his disposal, but he's getting a little more folksy. Fastforward to the 2000 election, and he's doing his best to sound folksy to the point where the Will Ferrell portrayal wasn't too far off.

There's still plenty of videos out there of him in the 2000s at private events where he clearly was not like the "President Bush" persona - he could be funny, smooth/fast-talking, etc.

sometimes the accent reclamation thing is organic. ,

My ex (what a piece of ass BTW) was from Grand Forks, ND.  She had lived in Vegas and OC for 20 years.   She had a normal voice like any other woman in Newport Beach.  It's her mom's birthday, so she calls a Grand Forks florist to order flowers.  5 minutes into the conversation with the Grand Forks lady, she's all "dontcha' know" just like one of the women on "Fargo".

It's infuriating, actually.  On almost a daily basis there is something that would DQ any other candidate from either party but nothing matters.

Oh, this will matter. I can't believe Harris didn't try to stop Trump. The media needs to hold her feet to the fire over this one!

Dunno where tf to put this, but anyone who says their vote doesn't matter -

the Washington Public Lands Commissioner race was decided by 51 votes out of 800k cast.  Since WA does an all-party primary, with the top 2 advancing to November, a Republican grabbed the top spot, but 2nd place was between a Dem and a Rep.  The Dem won, initial vote and recount, and avoided the Dems being locked out of this race in November.

51 out 800,000 votes.

Jamie Herrera Beutler (R) - 22.03%
Dave Upthegrove (D) - 20.82% (396,300)
Sue Kuehl Pederson (R) - 20.82% (396,249)

The actual vote was 57% Dem, 43% Rep, but the Dems ran 5 candidates and the Republicans ran 2.  WA Dems almost fucked themselves out of this race.

In addition,  the "southern drawl" is basically speaking with less mouth movement.  I definitely sound "more southern" at the end of the day or when I'm tired.   I'm sure campaigning every day for a month is gonna make most people sound "southern".
