So I'm not getting a raise this fiscal year? You could have just said that, sir.

I imagine one of the worst jobs in America right now would be prepping Trump on policy questions for debates or interviews.

The sad thing is it doesn't even matter what he says...as long as he speaks confidently, half the country will think a non-answer or an answer that has nothing to do with what was asked, is a great response.

I don't know, you could probably have some real fun with it but don't expect the check to arrive in the mail.

That's probably a safe expectation either way.

You think it's crashing now, wait just a couple more weeks when he and some other big holders get to start selling.

We'll know when he specifically plans to sell big blocks because he'll start pumping and/or floating "big news" about it.  That's illegal, of course, but...

Circling back to circling back. The ‘90s were glory days, as were the early to mid aughts for UT sports, but the election of Obama gave me the sense our country was making strides to reach our national values. And the day my gay friends could marry their love was another such affirmation. We’re not going back.

it’s one thing to hear it. It’s a whole different experience to read it out loud in your own voice….

Donald Trump was asked today if he would commit to prioritizing legislation to make childcare affordable, and if so, what specific legislation he would advance.

This is an unedited transcript of his response:

Well, I would do that, and we're sitting down, and I was, somebody, we had Senator Marco Rubio, and my daughter Ivanka was so, uh, impactful on that issue. It's a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I'm talking about, that, because, look, child care is child care is. Couldn't, you know, there's something, you have to have it – in this country you have to have it.

But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that I'm talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels that they're not used to — but they'll get used to it very quickly – and it's not gonna stop them from doing business with us, but they'll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country. Uh, those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we're talking about, including child care, that it's going to take care.

We're gonna have - I, I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time, coupled with, uh, the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country, because I have to stay with child care. I want to stay with child care, but those numbers are small relative to the kind of economic numbers that I'm talking about, including growth, but growth also headed up by what the plan is that I just, uh, that I just told you about.

We're gonna be taking in trillions of dollars, and as much as child care, uh, is talked about as being expensive, it's, relatively speaking, not very expensive compared to the kind of numbers we'll be taking in. We're going to make this into an incredible country that can afford to take care of its people, and then we'll worry about the rest of the world. Let's help other people, but we're going to take care of our country first. This is about America first. It's about Make America Great Again, we have to do it because right now we're a failing nation, so we'll take care of it. Thank you. Very good question. Thank you.

Bolded for an important truth.  Nate is doing what Thiel has told him to do, because they want/need SOME element of plausibility when they take action (legal, or just plain old violent insurrection again) to disregard the actual election results.

That’s what Trump calls “the weave.” Because he’s really smart, you see. He’s not a blithering idiot.

Once you realize he's just a mouthpiece for Peter Thiel, it makes a lot more sense.

On a conceptual level, I don't understand the concept of putting you finger on polls to influence a potential outcome. Psychologically, wouldn't you want to show Harris ahead slightly to get people off their asses to vote for Trump and avoid the impending communist hellscape? Or are people so afraid of the emotional attachment of voting for a loser that they'll stay home if it's not looking promising?

Oh I guess Hillary should have contested the election. Nate gave her a 70% chance and she was leading in every swing state

If she had a plan to disregard actual vote totals and simply do an end-around on democracy, that's what she would have done.  For all of her faults, that ain't one of them.

Trump, Thiel, and Elon?  They'll fucking gleefully burn this whole fucking thing down to serve their self-interest.

Perhaps it’s to get suckers to put money on Trump winning, via Polymarket, so that when he doesn’t, Thiel and Polymarket collects without having to pay out much?

Imagine investing in our human capital (our children) by providing them 1) a safe place to be during work hours, 2) basic nutrition (breakfast and lunch for 3 yr olds is super-cheap), and 3) even some initial play-based education, reading time (yes, read books to young kids, it's an easy way to fill time and stimulate their brains).  And then layer on the fact that you are freeing up our adult human capital to work (because they have a place for their kids to go), get a degree to better themselves, etc.

If we invest in our people, the ROI is incredible.

But nope.  We won't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever do anything like what I just wrote.  Because SOCIALISMCOMMUNISMMARXISMWOKEIFYOUCAN'TPAYFORYOURKIDSDON'THAVETHEMBUTATTHESAMETIMEWEAREPROFAMILYANDWANTYOUTOHAVELOTSOFKIDS!

Things democrats need to push now that Row is dead to judo the republicans:

1.) Universal healthcare for all children, babies, and expected mothers.
Seriously. Child healtcare is actually super cheap. Everyone likes babies. Pregnancy sucks and is scary so make it easy to give birth.

2.) Earlier public school style child care starting at least at 3.

3.) All year school with ‘flex summer time’ that allows for things like summer camp or family vacations. Summer break is more like a 2 week Christmas break mid June and the month of July is ‘optional’ but still available.

4.) Universal basic food allowances for those with kids. Pretty much like a child tax credit but 2 ways to apply. 1.) SNAP program style for those who want it. 2.) a tax credit for others but it’s means tested.

Im really married to #1 and #2. I don’t understand how it’s 2024 and we don’t have those two things

#3 isn't really in the purview of the Federal government....any state can do that if they want.

Trump is the kid called up to do a book report in front of the class — yet hasn’t read the book.

Tangential, but funny:  we had a HS classmate who was a damn genius.  He never did his homework.  Our Calculus teacher would ask kids to put homework problems up on the board, and when it was his turn he would just bring the textbook up and solve the problem (correctly) in real time.  He's now a Chemical Engineering prof at U-Wisconsin.

Kamala will eat him alive at the debate.  If you weren’t paying attention to Trump except sporadically (RNC, the occasional soundbite, etc.), you could easily get the impression he has some kind of rapid mental decline going on because the babbling is getting worse.

I thought the lack of campaigning was him being a cheapskate and saving his money, but I’m wondering if it’s because the more he’s out there, the more stupid shit he says, and so his handlers are trying to keep him out of the spotlight.  The NABJ really put it on our radar, but todays little Q&A in front of a Trump-friendly group really makes you wonder, because once again, he did himself no favors with the people he needs to win over.

I’m more surprised by Vance not caring to have an answer, he’s just phoning things in, but that little couch fucker probably has his eye on running as the to of the ticket for the 2028 human presidential election.
