So my wife and I watched the STOPPING THE STEAL documentary movie on HBO this evening. Even though there was nothing really new, it is still infuriating and I want to Trump get everything bad that's coming to that orange shit-stain. No deals, no pardons!

There were some deeper conversations with several of the people who were in charge of the election in Maricopa County in 2020, mostly the Republicans. They also spoke with Rusty Stowers, the then-Speaker of the House in Arizona. I'll give them credit -- they held the line under terrible pressure from Trump and his shit-head goof squad. There were interviews with Raffensperger and another then-Trump/GOP'er who was handling the daily press briefings -- his name and title escapes me. They did their jobs too.

My wife was wondering if she can convince her parents to watch STOPPING THE STEAL and see what they say. If they would, it might make a difference in how they vote. Might. But I doubt they'd last more than 10-15 mins before turning it off. They're pretty much lost at this point.

I did too.

I'm going to laugh if this helps cost the Republicans NC's 15 electoral votes.

And this is not even the weirdest fetish concerning a Republican I've heard in the last 24 hours, although the "Black Nazi" and all of the ass-to-mouth stuff with the sister-in-law was taking it to an 10.5, not gonna lie.

If the Robinson story leak was really an attempt by some in the state GOP to get him to quit, they obviously waited too late to get the story out. Resigning  takes days if not a week. He wasn’t going to quit within hours.

They might have thought that if they gave him too much time, he'd be able to circle the wagons and/or get Trump to weigh in against the state GOP.

Drop it within 24 hours of the deadline, hope he gets no support from Trump and Co., and then he bails. Maybe promise him something in return, with the idea that he has no time to come up with any alternative.

Problem for them is that he's now finished in politics.  He'll never win another election again - he might as well roll the dice and stay in the election and see if he can pull it off.

Call political trade craft or what you will, the timing of this "discovery" by the GOP doesn't make any sense.  The thought that they'd be vetting their own candidate on the eve of it being impossible to pull him makes no sense at all.  Someone has had this info for a while, and leaked it now because it's damaging no matter which direction the NC GOP goes.  If they pull their candidate, it's pure chaos, if they stand by the black Nazi, it's political suicide.  The timing of this is beautiful for Dems, and that's no accident.  I don't doubt for a second the veracity of the damning report and allegations, this is who this guy is.  However, someone has had this ace in the hole for a while, and leaked/released it at the exactly correct time.

the best time to drop it would have been next Monday, imo.

This is a joke but you know this sick mofo has been up after midnight on a DIY forum in the dead of winter vividly describing how to use white bread in a frozen pipe to absorb melting ice so you can solder the break.

I'll be in my bunk . . . .

Jordan isn't tying any of his money to any of this, to include his brand.  No one way he jumps in.  It's gonna be another feckless clown a la Mike Johnson they prop up to do it, if they do at all.

I was only joining about Jordan running in NC. First he’s notoriously apolitical and I’m sure he has zero desire to be governor of nc. I will work on my words to be more obvious about my intent.

My Va. homies showing out

So jealous. Early voting opens in 30 days for Texas!

Kamala is in Atlanta for an abortion rights rally in Atlanta, GA this afternoon (2pm) and then an evening rally in Madison, WI (6:30pm)
Nothing on the schedule for Trump and Vance - Trump has an NC rally tomorrow and Vance is doing some local stops in PA tomorrow
Walz has nothing on the schedule for today - he has a rally in Allentown, PA tomorrow

Just an FYI on how this works - apparently the governor needs the state legislature (Nebraska is unicameral) to approve a special session and they'd have to do this by the end of September.

There are a couple of Republican senators that represent Omaha and they're the holdouts. Voting to essentially disenfranchise their constituents would be a political death sentence so it's a pretty hard sell to get these guys to switch.

McDonnell is still a no.

Quote

"Winner take all is a passionate issue for all Nebraskans. Sen. McDonnell has heard compelling arguments from both sides, and as of today, remains a 'no,'" a spokesperson said Thursday after attempts to contact the senator.

McDonnell was a registered Democrat, but switched to Republican in April after getting shit for voting for anti-abortion and anti-trans legislation.  So, socially conservative, but doesn't have heavy ties to the GOP.  Nebraska's Unicameral is nominally non-partisan and committee assignments are by secret ballots, which does diminish the party pressure.  But, I could see Ricketts offering him campaign funding for a higher office.

I'm a few in the bag, but I think I meant that unless he's the trustee (assuming irrevocable, which isn't the argument on display), what's he doing there.  I may be being dense, I thought about this for about a minute on my way out of the office for a day off tomorrow.

I did a quick look.  Nevada law permits modification of an irrevocable trust if trustees and beneficiaries all agree.  That, apparently, is unusual.

The general rule for judicial modification of an irrevocable trust seems to be that the trust fails of its essential purpose at the time of creation, for some reason, tempered by consideration of the beneficiaries.  So, if a proposed change discriminates against a beneficiary or alters the original arrangement with respect to a beneficiary, then it won't be granted.

Collectively, it still seems "tied" for the moment.  By that, I mean that Harris hasn't conclusively broken out beyond the margin of error.  She likely is trending in the right direction, but we need a bit more time to see if she can establish a lead outside the margin of error.

Like we're winning a football game by 2 points with 6 minutes left.  Gotta play offense and defense.  If you play it right you win by 9 and it looks good.

I've heard some judges like RVs and all inclusive trips to foreign resorts.

Sorry to interrupt the schadenfreude for a moment but an update on East Texas pulp muncher's head space:

My 11 y.o. son told me after soccer practice the other night that "Colt" offered up out of the blue - If Kamala (mispronounced of course) wins the election that him and his family are moving to Canada.

I asked how he responded to that and he said he just ignored it. I told him next time tell him they better start packing their shit.

so move to a country more woke and with higher taxes?

Maine needs to write it in their laws right now that they will switch to winner takes all the minute Nebraska does, Like how the state compact only goes into effect if the 270 is reached nationally.

They can't.

Laws in Maine do not take effect until 90 days after the session ends.  Nebraska timed this on purpose

Exactly.  The Royal We’s son should say, “Hey Colt. Does your dumbass dad know Canada is more liberal and progressive than ‘Murica with higher taxes? Do your research!”

Robinson using the Eddie Murphy “wasn’t me” defense is hilarious.

“But that’s the same username you used elsewhere, and your email was attached to it, and the language was identical to your Facebook posts, and…..”
“Wasn’t me.”
