Trump and his crony grifters are cooking numbers everywhere to make people think he's winning. They don't want you to trust your own eyes or instincts, they manufacture numbers to gaslight Americans.

But to be fair, there is no reason for the Democrats to be pushing a different version.  The perception of a close race not only increases the chances of beating Trump, it helps down ballot, builds a warchest, and brings new voters out for future elections.  (Also, it lines the pockets of the political machine, but maybe that's a little more cynical than I want to focus on.) I have a legitimate fear that I may be misreading America and Trump really has a 50/50 shot of winning.  I am sure the Harris campaign shares that uncertainty. They don't want to say anything that drives complacency.  They aren't commissioning Dem friendly pollsters.  They aren't releasing internal polling (except in races that no one thought the Dems had a shot.). They aren't working the media to drive confidence.

I feel like it's the beginning of the pandemic when the CDC said not to worry about masks.  It was bullshit, but it was necessary to get those masks to healthcare workers.  I think Dems are complicit in pushing bullshit for the greater good.  I'm okay with that, even if it wrecks my nerves.

Or maybe the race really is close.

Paystub guy is greenspoint. Rocko was the guy who bought a suit to sleep with some hookers and left the tag on so he could return it. He posted pics with the price tag still hanging off the wrist, IIRC. Then again I apprently didn't remember his age correctly, so...

Rocko also pasted a paystub iirc.  And didnt know to remove the tags from his jacket.  He was early 20's about 10 years ago or so.

I just saw the most offensive political commercial in my entire life. In it, presidential candidate Randall Terry claims Kamela Harris is working for the KKK to abort black babies, and then shows dead black babies and fetuses. Most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. We have to get back in control of the media. This is ridiculous. ABC posted a note beforehand that they were required by law to show the ad.

Man, the democrats are the only party within the 40s. The Republicans are over in the Chuck E Cheese next door to the stadium.

Este. This isn't our old Republican Party. Not by a long shot.

Please point to anyone like this.  Because you're full of shit if you think the majority of Democratic ideals live within the 40's.

Anthony Blinken, Janet Yellen, Merrick Garland, Tom Vilsack, Gina Raimondo, Julie Su, Jennifer Granholm, John Tester, Denis McDonough, Avril Haines, Jered Bernstein, Bill Burns, Gretchen Whitmer, Jared Polis, Tim Walz, Josh Shapiro, Andy Bashear, Pete Buttigieg, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris…

I got tired of typing - can you name a current Republican presidential candidate who is either a gun owner, has not threatened to suspend the constitution,  or not said we should take your guns without due process?

You've never heard of Travis Scott? Kendrick Lamar? Childish Gambino? Future? Like all of these are the most surface rappers I can think of, Travis Scott had a fucking McDonalds meal named after him.

One of those guys performed at Astroworld, right?

Does Childish Gambino even make music still?

Saw a photo of him and I would never say Black people look alike, but holy fuck, shave the beard and he looks like Troy from the Community TV series. It’s like “where’s Abed?”

By the way - parties don’t have “ideals,” and only suckers think they do. There is what they do, and who they do it for, and whether or not they choose to respect the public process of choosing sides.

That’s it and that’s all.

And you may think you’re safe, but if you vote for people who don’t respect the choice, no one is. Not even you.

without hyperbole, black people are saving the country right now, from top to bottom. Exemplified by Kamala resuscitating the entire fucking party in 3 months.

Only thing I'd quibble with is the right now part. Been happening from the jump.

Maybe it's been discussed at length (I certainly miss pages of this thread of a time, so point me to a page number if I'm rehashing old shit) but can anyone explain the disconnect between the betting markets and polls?  I'm not following closely so maybe a poll shift but most I've seen still seem to be predicting a narrow Harris win.  But Trump appears to be a relatively comfortable favorite in the betting markets.   I don't think presidential betting reflect the market the same extent as sports betting (with actual regulated books not taking bets + small $ limits, etc.) but still a bit surprising.

I think it's just that stupid people bet on results that they're hoping for. There were quite a few that bet on Conor McGregor to beat Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.

Since Mayweather had always been a convincing favorite throughout his career -- -200 against Pacquiao, -300 versus Canelo Alvarez, -400 against Shane Mosely -- professional bettors couldn't believe they could get a similar price on Mayweather versus McGregor.

Mayweather's odds dipped under -400 in the days leading up the fight, and the big, smart money began appearing.

Um it’s big crypto money (and foreign money) betting on Trump and then believing he’s now the favorite, or trying to convince people he’s the favorite.  Do you think the average Democrat is betting on politics?

Betting markets for elections are so fucking stupid.

That’s the stuff that eats at Trump. Ratings. Popularity.

This op ed likely won’t bother him as much. But it’s about damn time. Need some papers in the South to do the same thing (not holding my breath although the AJC could).

Sooooo Donald Trump is gonna bankrupt some more gambling operations.  Sounds about right.

Get some money guys to put some big bets on Trump, then the average Joe starts doing it because they think he’ll win, he loses, the sites kick back the money to their friends and keep the rest. Peter Thiel isn’t going to lose money on Polymarket.

In news that will shock no one, Trump's $100,000 'Swiss-Made" watches, are not made in Switzerland.

The company he licensed his name to, TheBestWatchesOnEarth LLC, is run out of the same Wyoming strip center storefront as a company that sells honey mixed with Viagra ...no that's not a typo.

And the spokesman's name is Vladimir Dmitriev.  Wonder how long it will take to tie this guy to Russia.

Are Trump’s ‘Swiss-Made’ Watches From Wyoming? (nymag.com)

I joke, but because of how versatile he is, there are probably nerds who only think of him as Lando, Millenials and Gen Zers who only think of him in Community and *maybe* Atlanta, and music fans who like him in Atlanta and as Childish Gambino.

I’m still bitter he left Community, it threw the balance of the show off.  At least he signed on for the Community movie.

Next step: challenge him to a public dick measuring contest and see if that puts him all the way into a catatonic fugue.

Dave Bautista can be Kamala’s stand-in.

Or Tim Walz - maybe he’s packing like Garry from Parks and Rec.

Great. Did she sound articulate, quick on her feet and thoughtful?  I bet she did. All the while he’s outside screaming potato, but it’s important to reach these people and somehow get them to actually hear her, which they’ve been actively avoiding. He’ll still scream potato while the media talks about his love for the quality vegetables from labor and knowledge of cultivation—a real man of the earth and pro farmer. It’s almost like the media does his talking for him. She can interview wherever, different rules man.

But maybe she can convince a few that she’s not scary or looking to destroy their teetering livelihood of bad decisions. Whatever, a simple interview on any media can give them that same insight. How many Aggie minds do you think she changed? How about west Texas types? Independents that can actually stomach Fox?  Based on nothing, I’d guess that liberals watching specifically to see how she’d do is a large part of that audience. Few come away from almost voting for a cult with whew, till that Fox interview I was going to vote for potato.

Or she can win by default when he doesn't show up.  That narcissist ain't gonna take a 2.8 inches to 0.0 inches victory when he can just tell everybody he's packing a trunk and half of this moronic country will believe him.

7 million people watched, which means 7 million potential people chopping up clips and throwing them online. And what do you know, there are now numerous clips which have been all fucking over social media which reaches beyond the normal fox news audience. Stupid, stupid undecided voters will see her on FAIR AND BALANCED FOX NEWS and watch her call them out on doctoring Trump's responses and admire her strong appearance and how she didn't let the reporter bully her and will be swayed. Nobody who wasn't a trump loving dipshit watched the clips from that interview and thought "Wow, Trump is where it's at!"

The interview was great strategy. You doomers have shit for brains and think small.
