Tell me you don't know shit about Oregon without telling me you don't know shit about Oregon.  The eastern half of Oregon is full blown maga.  It's not a long drive to do that and head back home.

back in the late 70s days when I lived in Washington state in the Tri-Cities area there was an urban legend that there was a town near Mount Bachelor ski resort that was filled with a Coven of witches.

Non college educated men 18-29 is the lowest voter turnout demographic by far. They are putting everything they can into trying to get them to vote.

And because they are mostly dumb shitbags, they don’t need a single policy to benefit those people. They just need to give them someone to mock. The single most common ad by far (at least in PA) is about tax payer funded gender affirming surgeries for trans inmates. Federal trans inmates is ~1200 people (don’t quote me on that but that’s the number I found when I tried to look it up). Based on Republican advertising, the single biggest issue in our country is whether or not gender affirming surgery is considered a medically necessary procedure for, at the absolute maximum, 1200 federal inmates.

The closing line of that ad is really what it boils down to “Kamala Harris is for they/them. Donald Trump is for you.”

That what the entire message of the campaign is about. Not a single bit of substance of any kind. Just division. You are American and everyone that’s different from you is ruining your America. Anyone that represents them can’t possibly represent you.

Thing is, they may well and truly entertain the dumb shitbags and get them decked out in MAGA gear and yelling a lot, but I think getting them off their ass to actually vote, this late in the game, isn't going to work out too well for them.

Violence has a 0% chance of success, much less after Jan 6. His only shot is the ballot box, he does not have absolutely anything that can make him win in a coup, and I said this when he theoretically controlled the military 4 years ago, but he was a headless chicken back then, today he has project 2025 plan drawn up by the neo nazis.

The violence is to feed his ego

I'm curious how many are even registered.  Gonna go well - not many. Unless they live in a state with AVR or can register up until E-Day, they have to get off their ass and register and likely missed it.

And you have to get them to show up.  With your lack of ground game.

So 6% of Texans the NYT polled were like:

Pollster: So how are you feeling about Trump?
Voter: I am all aboard the Trump Train ... love me some Trump!

Pollster: And what about Ted?
Voter: Holy crap not that guy again, who's he running against?

I’d be surprised if Trump matches his 2020 vote margin of 6%. For Colin, victory is within reach.

Don't worry about that shit dude it is insignificant in the grand scheme of things, by that point it is an open GOP coup and anti coup meassures take place. This was a legit worry if Trump controls the military though.

@Js1 What was the legislation passed that would stop the House from refusing to certify?  Or am I making that up?  My buddy is worried they aren't going to certify.

First off, any legislation has to also pass the Senate and be signed by Biden - ain't gonna happen.

Secondly, new Congress is sworn in January 3 - and any lingering rules a GOP House passed would be quickly undone by Speaker Jeffries if the Dems win the House, prior to the certification on January 6.

@Bateshorn can back me up - the biggest thing is that unless the GOP retains the House, ain't shit gonna happen.  Though I am sure the requisite number of House members needed to challenge (87) a State's electoral votes, but you also need 20 Senators, and you can't just challenge because of vibes.

Well the NYT found Trump's lead in NE-01 to be 4 points.  It was drawn to be a Trump 54-43 district.

I intervened in Hotze's lawsuit over drive thru voting. Fuck that guy and his attorney, who I assume is Woodfill again.

Always remember that Hotze was the guy who convinced a private investigator to hold an AC repair guy at gunpoint in 2020 because they thought there were ballots hidden in his repair truck. For some unknown reason, I assume Ogg, the case has not gone to trial yet. Almost 4 years now.  https://archive.ph/LnKv0

Hopefully Hotze is someday convicted and has his MD license suspended.

Isn't this a distinct possibility though?

It doesn't look to be likely.  Control of the House and Senate are probably going to to flip flop.

The problem is we don't have a lot of House polling, but we have a lot of insider-y info that the GOP is starting to triage races to save others.  Which means things aren't going well. And Dems are dropping money into races that were borderline tossup territory because the internal polling shows them competitive.

Off the top of my head, there's something like 3 or 4 flips in CA, 1 or 2 in AZ, 2 auto pickups in LA/AL, 1 in PA, 2 or 3 in NY, 1 or 2 in Iowa.  Enough to offset the automatic 3 pickups in NC for the GOP off the new maps.

The GOP only has a 4 seat lead to work with.  Add in the NC flips, it is 7.

And there are always surprises on Election Night in House races.  Because they don't get polled a lot.

But we have seen really good leads for House candidates in fringy districts like NM-02, both NH races, CO-08, etc.  Places you would expect to be tossup-y if the GOP was going to keep the House.

PA voter registration deadline was last Monday 10/21.

Mail in ballot request deadline is tomorrow.

Hence why it is not the strongest play electorally to rely on the worst voting demographic.  There has not been a ground game to get them registered in time in a lot of states.  They can't just show up and vote for Trump if they didn't do the work first.

lol. Ugliest part of a decidedly not ugly state. Also the heart of MAGAland in WA - central WA is more conservative than the Palouse to the east, mostly due to Whitman County (Pullman/WSU) normally going blue. A Democrat didn't even make the general election in central WA's congressional district,  which includes the Tri-Shitties and Moses Hole.

This is correct. In fact, The first thing you do after you swear in a new Speaker is pass the rules package for the new Congress. The reforms also make it impossible for state legislatures to appoint electors after the election.

I can't imagine being a middle or high school teacher right now dealing with the male students constantly saying some MAGA comments all day. I'm sure they're giggling while repeating the rally comments about Puerto Rico and Hispanic immigrants not pulling out.

I know my own limitations and realize that I wouldn't make it a year without smacking the crap out of some mouthy kid.

My wife is an elementary school counselor in SW austin and has regular issues with 5th grade boys making racist “monkey” comments. My 5th grade nephew in Buda had a bunch of his friends get in trouble for calling his black female friend an N word.  So of course  the school’s gender reassignment protocols have been implemented to change those attitudes.

So, to the first point from @Js1, the House wouldn't be able to unilaterally say "we aren't going to certify", even if it remains under R control?

They’re required by law to perform the duties and the House doesn’t control it. They can all vote against it but Mike Johnson has no control over his caucus.

Also, the revisions to the Electoral Reform Count Act makes it very hard for Congress to reject electors, and if they do, rather than triggering the disputed elections clause (and thus throwing the election into the House), it just reduces the total number of electoral votes and thus the threshold for gaining a majority.  Now that could cause some fuckery, but again, it is very unlikely now that two sets of electors could be presented and cause a dispute. For once, Congress did something right.
