2024 Presidential Election Thread - Let's keep the party going.

The one thing that binds ALL Trump's supporters across all demographics is their lack of self-respect. It's a core trait, down to the molecular level. No Puerto Rican Trump supporter will ever abandon him. However, this could motivate people who were on the fence or who didn't care enough to vote, but will care now.

Honest question - Why does the GOP have this last minute obsession with the transgender in schools subject? That seems to be the sudden focus of every political ad on TV and spam texts.

I get that it’s a cheap scare tactic but the only reason I can see that they would run with this is because they think it plays well with undecided voters. Why that topic and not immigration or the economy? Is America that dumb that one party thinks the key to winning a presidential election is to convince people their children may go to school and get a sex change? Or that inmates are getting sex changes in prison and this is the thing our country needs to worry about?

I mean, let’s see, we have immigration, the economy, a housing crisis, climate change, abortion, gun violence, Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Gaza, and China. But one party wants everyone to stress out over unauthorized sex changes at school.

If/When the MAGA spell finally wears off the GOP and they have to shuffle back to the center to try and cobble together some sort of viable base of voters again its going to be very funny to throw all the shit like this back in their faces so people don't forget how radical they were

They clearly have data showing that this line of ads likely has the most impact.  Whether that is more toward getting their own base out or pulling in undecideds/apathetics, I'm not sure.  But I agree it is perplexing as much as it is damning of what they think or our electorate and/or our electorate in general.

You know what's really interesting about Trump's 2024 campaign? Both his team and the RNC seem to have pretty much left down-ballot races hanging. No one really knows how this will play out yet, but it could totally change the playbook for how national campaigns handle these smaller races going forward. From what it looks like, most candidates were stuck fending for themselves or having to lean on their state parties for help.

Here's the thing - a lot of the campaign money was getting funneled into Trump's legal defense. Plus, word is that Trump's folks and the RNC (with Lara Trump at the helm now) mostly want to funnel campaign spending through Trump's own properties. Not exactly leaving much in the pot for other candidates, right?

Any chance Trump would throw Henchcliffe under the bus? Would love nothing more than to see another example of what happens when you kiss his ass just to be thrown away when you no longer are useful to him. Loyalty means nothing to him, less than nothing, and we need more examples of fafo.

Pretty much anything east of the Cascades is maga.  It was jarring to witness.  West of the Cascades you see normal people; east of them you're in a different world.

Yep. Go watch Green Room (good time of year for it). Only mild hyperbole in that one.

basically evidence that the campaign DID review his remarks beforehand and DIDN'T strenuously object to the remarks he did say.

which is mind boggling considering they are now trying to distance themselves from it. motherfuckers, you approved that routine. you wanted it be a trial balloon and boy it went over badly

This type of ad is what works on human beings. If you really think about it, and go to places in your head you dont want to go, we probably shouldn't live in a democracy. Human beings are not smart enough to have it.  Benevolent dictator probably is the best option for the human race.

you never know but I don't see him wanting to do that because that somewhat implies he made a mistake. I see it more of Trump saying that Leftists can't take a joke and that he loves Puerto Ricans more than anyone.

the best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter.

NYT has Trump +10 in Texas (lol no) but Cruz only +4

Also Harris +12 in NE-02 and only -4 in NE-01

I didn't see where anybody's broken out the tabs on the TX poll. From what little I saw earlier this morning they had Houston all fucked up, way underestimating the Kamala vote. I'll go look for it.

This tracks with my decidedly unscientific visit to my small, very red hometown in the Kansas Meth Belt a couple of weeks ago.  I was very surprised by the lack of enthusiasm for Trump compared to 4 and 8 years ago.  He’ll win because of the inertia of life long republicans and the poisoning of the mind against Dems that Fox News has perpetuated in the dominant older population (anybody with ambition/ability leaves and doesn’t come back).   Saw more Harris signs than I’ve ever seen for a Dem (including Obama).

Sure, but they could at least attempt to focus on the economy or immigration. Both of those are legit concerns for many Americans and areas where the GOP could at least pretend to have an edge. Instead, they are hammering us with sex changes at school.

Step 1: Hire a comedian to deliver a racist joke for your base.

Step 2: Have one of your henchmen declare it was a plant by the real racist, your opponent.

Step 3: Sell some merch.  Dolla dolla bill, y'all.

Step 4: Incite Civil War 2.0 to seize power so you can pardon yourself.

I mean, it really is an amazing business plan.

That sound you hear is the Trump campaign in full panic mode, trying to drive up the negatives of Harris in a desperate attempt to stifle voter turnout. Take that and add it to Trump bitching at Fox News while he sits on his fat red ass, and you have even more evidence of how desperate and angry they are. That's all it is. They have no secret formula and no ideas. They are just trying to keep things close so they can try their bullshit in the courts after they lose the election count.
