It's only nonsense in the particular way you're trying to equate them, but you're doing so incorrectly. The true MAGATs think they're responding to something that DOES affect them - their life, their safety, their children's safety, etc. You keep missing that.

Right, but he isn't talking about MAGA. He is talking about everyone else.

Neiher come close to the badassness of San Juan. Plus you can get to some beautiful areas pretty quick outside the city.

I would trade either Galveston or Miami to the NORKS to make Puerto Rico a state in a heartbeat.

Agreed. San Juan is on a whole other level. One of my favorite things in San Juan is locals you have known for all of 15 minutes apologizing for how bad the beaches are* and then inviting you on a chinchorreo with 3 generations of extended family.

*they honestly believe the beaches are not great, despite the fact that they have among the best urban beaches in the world.

Voting on something that never effects you except for making you feel like you owned the libs is not as energizing as being a woman who is now being threatened and actively being shown that if you need medical care you won't get it. Doctors who can't provide care they want to are not going to stand by and not vote.

They are not the same. Stop equating them it's nonsense.

If it were so energizing they would have turned out in 2016 and 2020, where were they then? Waiting for the hate to become openly racist? You think the proud boys decided not to vote cuz it wasn't enough hate before? Like come the fuck on.

Also have to ignore the 2022 midterm elections, the Dobbs ruling, and any statewide abortion referendum. We just pretend that there weren't any elections since 2020.

Georgia overnight data dump highlights

1.  3.058 million have cast votes

2.  Women outpace men by 358k, 55.7%

3.  2020 non voters make up 560k of the total or 18.6%

4.  2020 day of voters make up 221k or 7.2%

Of the 2020 non voters the 18-29 demo is 195k, whereas 50-64 is 109k and 65+ is 100k.  If there was concern about the elder non vote beating that young vote, that is rapidly fading.

Fortress Atlanta Voting Totals

1.  Clayton County -61k or 28%

2.  Cobb County - 215k or 36%

3.  Dekalb County - 207k or 35%

4.  Fulton County - 318k or 35%

5.  Gwinnett County - 224k or 34%

Correct. Just live in a complete fantasy world where we are surrounded by Nazis who talk shit about Puerto Rico and then they vote for him harder.

I’m going to keep hammering this with credit to Huckleberry:

we don’t know shit about fuck, when it comes to EVs and mail returns.  And we won’t know shit about fuck until they start counting.

Independent voters make up a 1/3 of the electorate and you can’t reasonably predict how they are going to vote. Just like a few points in either direction among your party faithful can have a huge impact in the final total.

Each election year, beyond an outlier like 1956, 1984, 1996, is a unique snowflake and you can’t really digest all that much at a meta level from it. Vote, knock doors, cope however you need to.

Def not quoting your whole post but go look at who is pumping out those polls. It’s 2022 all over again. I keep telling you, the Republican polling machine is skewing the averages to set a narrative.

Even removing the obviously skewed R polls aren't showing a great trend except in MI.

btw, How pissed are you going to be when Kamala wins and the MSM says she was going to lose until the PR comments?

The increasing loudness of some Wall Street leaders saying that Trump will win tells me that they’re unsure that Harris is slightly leading.

If they truly thought the race was over, they would just sit back and do whatever behind the scenes that would make them and their client the most money. Instead they’re trying to move the needle ever so much by telling everyone the race is over.

I think it’s a reflection that the election is close. Across the board tariffs and mass deportations are going to induce Argentina style inflation, and you are seeing a Trump trade developing as a hedge.  That’s just smart business sense. If he loses, it’s just a transaction fee loss.

not only to set a narrative, meaning the challenge of the election after the loss, but also to convince the chuckleheads that they have to bother to show up at the polls. If they read they are five points down the “I only vote for a winner. “ phenomena sets in .

if she was five points up, they would still be saying the bullshit they are saying because they want Trump to win because of taxes. It means nothing about the outcome.

Here's the thing about the people complaining about grocery prices: they're morons. They complain about the cost of things, but you can't help but notice they all drive a new car, they all have the newest phone, they all have the newest TV. They spend globs of money on unnecessary shit they don't need then have the gall to complain about how much shit costs.

For them, it's never about cutting their own costs. It's everyone else's fault that they can't seem to save any money.

Its an enormous miscalculation because he's surrounded by the dumbest people. It's impossible to say he's surrounded by a more talented and brilliant team than 2016 or 2020. Did you see his legal defense post insurrection? Have you been following his big time losing on nearly all cases? It's all filled with completely stupid people wish-casting shit and using the media like a fucking puppet mouthpiece to promote disinformation.

You think people are voting for a mother fucker who said immigrants are eating cats and dogs? What kind of regarded shit is that. I know people who were planning on wallet voting for Trump who bailed after that. It's gotten too stupid and bad for normies.

Again.....read your history books.  Realize how absolutely fucking dumb the nazi leadership was.  They were a parade of losers, rejects, and failures.  They were the worst of the worst.  You wouldn't have put them in charge of keeping people's iced tea glasses filled, and they not only took over a country, they embarked on a voyage of cruel idiocy that killed tens of millions.  Stupid people can get shit done.  Because "stupid people" is the largest constituency in politics, and stupid, evil leaders can nab the "stupid people" vote.

For you, that task starts at home.  There is no deeper group of hateful fascists, with zero regard for the rule of law, and total contempt of the people, than your fellow members of law enforcement.  American cops are full-on fascist, and 99% Trumpy.  When Trump wins, they will gleefully be his weapon against the rest of us.  You ready to do something about that?  You ready to stand in the breach and stop them?  I doubt it.

Broad brush calculations regarding Americans of Puerto Rican descent:  we are told there are 500K living in Pennsylvania.  Let's assume 75% of them (375K) are of voting age.  Let's assume 60% of them (225K) were already going to vote, a similar proportion to the national numbers in 2020.

That leaves 150K pissed off people who might now be energized to vote in the swingiest swing state of all.  Now, surely all are not registered to vote, but Biden's margin was 80K in 2020, so it's probably significant, regardless.

It may be anecdotal evidence but in my experience urban/suburban types might early vote but they generally wait until the last few days.  We're busy people and forget and then realize it's only a few more days.  I have no data to back that up but I'm curious if that's true on a large scale.

The conversation with Rex would probably be fun and entertaining. Don't think we would convince each other to change our views, but at least we would know where each stands and tip our hats at the end.

Since Amanpour set up her camera of death in Sarajevo to when they staged Bourdain's walk around Gaza CNN has sucked soon nuts.

Where exactly do you think our views differ?

If they were already planning on voting for trump after Jan6, they're fucking fascists. Not """normies""". Overlooking extremely negative social costs in favor of goosing your corporate profits with the hopes of state favors is literally the MO of 1930s Germany and how they ended up with goddamn fucking Nazis.

They're only just now backing off their vote because they don't see it as a winner anymore, they don't give a shit about the racism. They certainly fucking didn't before.

I choose believe you don't actually think I live in a complete fantasy world. But I do believe you  know enough about where the media and social media have driven a stake throgh reality for many people means that, if not fantasy, at the very least there are mulitple realities that people choose to subscribe to at this point in time. Trump has been talking shit about people for 8 years now, and for some of those people he's increased their vote share (looking at you, latin men). And yet his popularity never seems to drop below a certain threshold. People don't believe he's a nazi. People you and I both know, don't view January 6th as something other than a few stupid hillbillies doing stupid hillbilly things, and it's not representative of Trump or the Republican party at all. So I've got to tell you, I agree with one thing you said, and it's definetly that people live in a fucking fantasyland.

They wouldn't disagree with you, because they were voting in their perceived financial best interest. You are exactly correct they saw a loser who on the biggest stage stepped all over his dick and lost his mind. We are saying the same thing, but instead of calling them fascists because they want fascism they were more the its not gonna negatively impact me and I'll be richer/have more money. I'm not saying it was right or tolerable or that is was accepting of their position. I just didn't come in hot calling them a fascist racist piece of shit I had a normal conversation with them and they eventually came around and saw the reality.

I mean, I'm sure I can't tell when I eat them at restuarants, but yeah, I eat the pasture raised organic eggs, or regular organic at HEB for $4.50 a dozen. That extra buck fifty in either direction really doesn't show up on my monthly budget much, so I admit to being perplexed by the outrage. Of course, I'm not raising a family of three teenage boys or anyhthing like that, so who knows.

A Venn diagram of the sufferers of ostrich effect and normies/politically under informed voters is god damned near a circle.

When you yank an ostrich out of its head hole and make normies decide if they want to be a piece of shit or not they actually do react, and mostly unfavorably.

And yes, we know those ostriches generally choose to be a piece of shit when confronted with reality, we have in fact read the Daily Texan board.

I mean, define unfavorably in this context? If you mean they double down because they can't take the ego hit and being wrong and the negative feedback, sure. If you mean they snap out of their reverie, well, we have mountains of evidence that is not really the case. The backfire effect, purports that cognitive dissonance and denial literally are hardwired into our brains. Again, if these people had seen the light, wouldn't the chasm in polling  be wide enough that no amount of herding could hide it?

I don't kid gloves anyone. I challenge and assert arguments that aren't " he's a fascist and your a fascist if you support him" because that isn't a constructive conversation. I also don't avoid talking politics with anyone, under any circumstance and I don't associate with any maga actual fascists.

Being misguided and not sold on the idea that Trump is actually a fascist is not an unreasonable position for a supremely uninformed ostrich effect sufferer.

Being a complete piece of shit maga supporter because you hate the brown people and want trans people to suffer and women to be sex slaves is pretty irredeemable.
