If the WashPo had said 6 months ago they were not endorsing a candidate as the full editorial board, they would have taken some heat but at least it would have set the plans well in advance. 10 days before the election is weak.

like others I cancelled my washpo sub subscription as a protest. The sad part is that the news side of their house has nothing to do with the ownership/editorial side and the news side will take any job cuts due to lost subscriptions. However cancelled subscriptions is the only way that subscribers can communicate their reaction.

I went to cancel then on the confirmation page they offered $2 month for a year.  I went ahead and accepted cause I figure at least they will basically be giving me their service for nothing, but maybe I will go back and cancel.

So did we ever decide if Kamala Harris should go on Joe Rogan's podcast?

PSA was split on it today. One of them mentioned that Rogan was upset that he didn't call out Trump on how good the Polio vaccine was at eradicating polio and that supposedly Rogan had documentation that said that it didn't. They thought that it wouldn't be worth it to spend all that time on a loon who is going to have some crazy off the wall idea that you aren't going to be prepared for and that clearly loves Trump especially with RFK Jr on board.

Pretty sure you're getting fucked in the fine print.  Don't you ever read through the terms of service?

Wait, what?  Polio was a multi-decade modern scourge that was essentially wiped out by the vaccine.  What does this jabroni think he has proof of?

Hence why Harris campaign didn't want a free-for-all type of interview.

Yeah that's the person that led the interview that has 38 million views on YouTube alone as of right now. We're fucked as a society.

Kamala is going to visit the illustrious king-maker Rogan, but she is not going to sit for an interview.  Instead, she is coming down to Austin to chug a pitcher of scrambled earthworms and sheep innards.  Some feel that this may be a misstep and beneath the office of a sitting Vice President, especially with just a week before the election (precious little time to win over those fickle, but high-minded undecideds).  However, Kamala wants to show Rogan and his bros that she is worthy of their admiration and, just maybe, their vote.  I think it is the right call.

i know this is a joke, but i will answer anyway.

if she has time, sure, why not. i think 3 hours is ridiculous and i can't imagine listening/watching the trump one for 3 hours holy shit. if they can figure out a way to do it for 60-90 minutes, that makes sense.

i will say this - several times during the limited clips that i saw, trump tried to get rogan to take the bait and say something shitty about kamala, and joe refused to do it every time. i'm sure his listeners were hoping he'd talk shit, and he didn't.

he's been outwardly very cordial and straightforward about what he wants from the interview, and i would expect the same amount of pushback he gave trump on his answers, which is not much. he said he wants to talk to her and learn about who she is personally, and he at least seems respectful when he says it.

all that said, i don't think it would help her win the election, and there's a 100% chance that something during those 60-90 minutes would become "controversial" and a "gotcha" moment for the maga goons, and they would screech about it for a week, and i don't love that.

tl;dr - i don't see much harm, but i also don't see much upside. rogan isn't some traditional requirement that candidates have to go on before they run, and i don't want to set that precedent now. he can interview her in a month when she's pres-elect, and it'll be wherever she wants it to be.

Use of force in palestine.

Oh. Meh, I don’t know. I think we might agree more than you think. What I comment on is posters’ propensity to attack Israel for everything because they’re predisposed to hate Bibi. I think the idea of a blanket ceasefire is a total nonstarter. I think a more focused Hamas hunting effort can be implemented as a substitute for a “ceasefire”.

But let’s grab that beer. I won’t drink craft by the way. Oh, and fuck you.

hadn’t seen these, no idea of their veracity, but certainly wouldn’t line up with what we keep hearing about gop voting early.

the one variable continues to be how many registered r’s are voting for kamala. we don’t know this number but it’s definitely larger than the converse number of dems voting for trump.

Seems like we would have heard about these numbers one by one if they were real.

I think the format of 3 hours just invites too many opportunities to try to trap or trip her up with something that could be a disastrous sound bite going into the last week of the election. Rogan's not a journalist, but you can almost guarantee that he will receive a lot of "help" in the prep work for Kamala's topics if she did it, just like I'm sure Brett Baier did with Fox News. Knowing the people I know who listen to Rogan, they would never vote for a Dem or woman for President, and I think that most of that audience is just content with their echo chamber. I just don't think there are a decent amount of people listening that haven't already thrown in with Trump or simply prefer who they think he is.

I watched about 2 hours of the Trump one, and there was nothing new there. They rehashed old subjects for the most part, talked about UFC for a while, and really didn't delve into any specifics on policy. Rogan didn't press him hard on the stupidity of his economic or healthcare plans, social security, Medicare, etc etc. In several instances Trump would state something generic and unsubstantiated, Joe would try a follow up, Trump restates his initial empty statements, and then they would move on. It felt like such a softball setup for everything, and simply an extension of Trump's platform to talk aimlessly to the masses. He talked about whales having psychological issues due to windmills at one point, which was probably the craziest thing he said, and Joe just kind of laughed it off as if it were a joke and changed the subject. I thought he was being  serious the way he delivered it, but it doesn't really matter. If it were to be a story, he would just call it a joke that people didn't understand and keep moving along. I don't think Rogan would be anywhere near as passive with Kamala.

Uh, do we know that? Plenty of former Democrats turned Cult 45 members that have never bothered to update their registration.

That sounds intriguing, anybody know what kinda Scotch @Brisketexan serves out there?  Probably some Glaswegian shit.

I bought a bottle of a Glaswegian scotch a couple of trips ago. It's pretty meh.  I'll serve you some if you visit the ledge, just because of your comment.

Despite having a kid living in Scotland you know it's fucking Clan Macgregor.

Scotch is one thing I don't cheap out on, man.  Especially in these trying times.  Multiple types of Oban, a couple of Lagavulins, a great Campbelton cask strength, plenty of good stuff in my cabinet.  Some things are important.

i think the registration issues happen on both sides. certain states register you in certain ways. out here in ca, you have to be proactive to be d or r, and a lot of people end up ind because of it (i think this is when you get your ca dl but can't remember). so yeah, registration may not matter or be accurate, my wife's reg says ind.

what i'm leaning on more is the issue of haley voters as recently as a few months ago, after she was out of the race, still voting for her and telling pollsters they would vote for kamala over trump. will they all? of course not. but those people exist.

every poll i've seen that tracks this info has more r's voting d than d's voting r, but it's impossible to know how big those numbers will be.
