Nicolle Wallace played earlier a series of clips of Trump calling democrats "vile, disgusting, evil, vermin", etc.

This double standard where one party gets to say whatever they want at any time, and the other is playing by the rules like it's still 1988.... Not sure I can take another cycle of it without losing my fucking mind.

Biden should hold a press conference every day and just repeat word for word some shitty thing Trump said that day.  Make it a spectacle

Yeah, it pretty much is.  But Chris Pine is way hotter than you.  Now, I've never met you.  And I'm straight.  But I know, objectively, that Chris Pine is hotter than you.

In the battle of the Chris’s, my wife is a Chris Pine stan.

But Chris Evans will forever be my Chris:

"It's so weird because on the one hand, state/national polls are telling us it's a tied race and it's a literal coin flip But on the other hand, local/house polls are telling us Harris is running at or ahead of Biden's 2020 result - On top of doing better with groups like white-college voters than Biden, which would suggest she's winning pretty easily"

A close race drives clicks which drives ad revenue. A blowout isn’t in the best interest of any media outlet’s revenue.

It seems like the Biden comment is already not a big deal while Puerto Ricans are still livid and voting accordingly. I never understood why it was supposed to be an issue? The "deporables" comment hurt Hillary because she already had a likeability problem from past baggage (fair or unfair), and the full depravity of trump was still developing with plenty of independents and undecideds still considering whether to vote for him. It's been 8 fucking years, we all know who he is now, his loyal voters are still on board, everyone else knows he's trash. I don't see how it would gain him any voters this time around.

Have none of the folks trying to make a big deal of the garbage thing ever heard “hit dogs holler?”

This. Bitch, don’t want to be called a garbage human…then don’t BE a garbage human.
She’s trash. She didn’t need the costume.

USFL story of how Trump ruined the league.

Interesting part where Trump convinced many of the other USFL owners that the NFL will be so afraid of Trump and Roy Cohn that the NFL will just settle. (Same story as Trump says how every country is afraid of him)

Trump was one of the few plaintiff witness and was destroyed by the NFL lawyer. Worth staying to end of the story how the NFL paid their $3 in damages.

It's a great book; I read it 5 years ago or so:

Agree, won't gain him new voters.

But it is bulletin board material that the GOP and media lackeys are continuing to use to mobilize people who lean GOP to get to the polls.

Exactly.  Asking your housekeeper for a garbage bag and putting it on is nothing more than reverse personification- not satire.

It creates a false equivalency in the minds of people who don't particularly want to vote left, but MSG left them feeling very uncomfortable and with uncomfortable thoughts.  This gaffe lets them go back to a comfortable place of being able to vote right again.  We called them trash, but they called us trash right back so it's a wash.  We're mostly the same.  I can turn my brain off and vote against liberal policies again.

Normally, I would say such people probably couldn't swing an election.  This year, they might.  It was a major fuck up by Biden, a completely unforced and unnecessary error.  How many Nikki Haley voters have voted for Trump in the past and might have felt personally attacked?  Just stupid to the fucking core.

He can't help Kamala anyway.  He is universally hated by the right and disliked by right leaning independents.  There's nothing he can do to expand her voting base. He can only hurt her at this point.  He needs to take the week off if he cares about this country.

Do you believe it, with what you're seeing anecdotally?

I saw another one that was a tie and had Tester up including the full ballot (2 other candidates).  He won his last 2 races due to a Libertarian on the ballot

I know this is the Presidential thread but this would be huge:

Tim Sheehy is a bitch. He refuses to be interviewed. And when accused of lying about being shot while deployed to Afghanistan he stays quiet on the issue. he was actually shot when he accidentally fired his weapon in a parking lot at glacier national park. If he really was shot during his military service, he would be proudly proclaiming it.

I’m not surprised if Montana selects a gop senator but this guy? Pathetic.

They picked a guy for governor who assaulted a reporter.

Had drinks in Houston with a lifelong Republican gay guy. Very involved in the party, hosts fundraisers for them, etc. He’s praying for the end of Trump. No way he’s voting for those guys.

Yeah, but ... is he a "normal gay guy"?

I could. I'm not an extroverted person, so I don't make a point of talking to a lot of people outside of my students and colleagues. Here in Montana we have been fully inundated with ads from both Tester and Sheehy, relatively equally. Of people I personally know, 75% are going Tester, but it just seems like the national sentiment had been Sheehy for a long time. Not a ton of people I know really make a point of talking politics. Most people here are "live and let live" in their day-to-day/ don't like to bring up tense topics. Maybe Tester's ads with the "Shady Sheehy" nickname stuck. The one with Sheehy saying he had a bullet in his arm from Afghanistan (when he actually accidentally shot himself while in Glacier National Park) surely didn't please too many people.

I agree with you in this instance. But there’s a large swath of Trump voters who otherwise exhibit good judgement and are highly successful people. I simply do not understand and will be the greatest mystery of my life.

I see the same. Some of them have purposely swaddled themselves in the Fox Political Universe and refuse to hear anything else.

And he didn't even move to Montana until a decade ago.

Don't forget, Montana Republicans purged their own day of voters.  I like Tester's chances.

Montana is very retail politics. A big known brand can still win when not favored. *cough* Susan Collins*

I was listening to MSNBC on the ride home and they were talking with a Puerto Rican gentleman from Pennsylvania who is part of the get out the vote against Trump group. He revealed that he was now in Orlando, where there are 500,000 Puerto Ricans in Central Florida and 1 million in the state.   He said, “ the wounds from hurricane Maria and Trump’s response had not fully healed and now he pulled off a scab. Everyone is bleeding again, and Trump’s refusal to distance himself from the comments is bringing back every negative thought about Trump that everyone already had. “

He also said, “The one thing Puerto Ricans agree on is that the island and the flag are a part of our soul. You cannot attack either and expect us to let that go. It’s like attacking our mother.  He does not understand that - but we do.”

he is trying to organize Puerto Ricans in large populations in battleground states - or even states like Florida with huge Puerto Rican populations - To come together to vote against Trump.

It might not be enough to turn Florida blue for sure, but it may be enough in tight races in battleground states to do some real damage to Trump’s chances

Never really thought about it but if I lived in Puerto Rico, I would “move” to FL for every federal election. How many weeks do I need to be there? Done.
