Here's the problem; Cheney can't attack Trump for being a draft-dodger, because Daddy was a draft-dodger among draft-dodgers.   I'm sure that somebody on team dotard has figured out that she can't hit him in is soft spot there.

Who declined to sever the connection between healthcare and employment insurance? Hey, who was married to the guy who signed the repeal of Glass Steagal? Oh, right. The 2016 Democratic Nominee. I'm all in on defeating Trump and Trumpism, but the idea that Democrats have been champions of the American middle class over the last 30 years is utter horseshit.

Bill became "Republican Lite" after the 94 midterms.

I know this is hard for progressives to accept, but the problem is that Trump's real core supports do not benefit from any of the positive consequences of a Harris presidency, in the same way they didn't benefit from the economic recovery under Biden or really any of the prosperity of the last 30 years. They are mad about it, and rightfully so. They don't think Trump will make it better and they don't give a fuck. Trump is revenge on the winners.

I can promise you everything you just said is bullshit. I am happy to take you for a tour of my neighborhood and show you the absolute obscene privilege that s been all in on MAGA.

Here's an interesting article from Politico on it.

Why the Polls Might Be Wrong — in Kamala Harris’ Favor

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/11/01/shy-kamala-harris-voters-polling-00186653

Quote

For eight years, pollsters have been striving to accurately capture former President Donald Trump’s level of support among voters. Even today, on the eve of his third campaign for the presidency, there’s no confidence they’ve nailed it. It raises a question that not enough people are asking: If it’s taken that long to adjust for Trump, is 100 days enough to accurately poll potential Vice President Kamala Harris voters?

It’s not just an academic question. There’s reason to believe that, just as proved to be the case with Trump, there is a fuller range of Harris voters who aren’t being measured.

Someone in a position of power needs to send a very fucking clear message to these fucknuts.

"Some of you seem to want violence.  You talk about your 'second amendment rights,' and 'seeking retribution' against the opposition.  You need to understand one thing, very, very clearly.  If you are dumb enough to start shooting, we the American people will shoot back.  You aren't the only people who own weapons.  We just don't cosplay about it.  But I promise you - there are millions of Americans who can, will, and are ready to shoot back if you take up arms against our country and the people in it.  You in the back, you hear me?  You best fucking hear me."

There's a former special operator I know who lives here in town and he practically starts salivating thinking about what he would do if the people who want violence start acting on it.

I feel like you are reposting this from a couple hundred pages ago. On how many of those issues did the Democrats compromise the final position, but were coming at it from the direction you are advocating? Are you arguing against Democratic policy, or the inevitable consequence of not being able to magically implement it? And there is no NAFTA; Trump negotiated its replacement. (I wish Dems were better at messaging that.)

We should go back to the subject of this, but the question is easily answered - the only thing on my list that was not an active policy objective by Democratic leadership was making the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent. That was capitulation, by a president who was elected to deliver change and had promised to let them expire. I'm not sure that's any better.

"Champions?"  Far from it.  And dude, you've heard my rants on the "Bankruptcy Reform Act" from Biden for nearly 20 years.  Even today, I'd tell him to his face that it was utter fuckery -- I vacation every year with one of his former Senate advisors, and I told HIM as much, and he nodded sheepishly, knowing it was fuckery.

But in the contest between who has been better for the white bottom third (because that's who we're talking about here, let's not pussyfoot about it) over the past 30 years, it's not even fucking close.

I sure as shit want Dems to do better....but let's also be fucking honest, once Newt declared war on compromise - a war that fucking worked - there wasn't much positive going to happen for the American people.  Maybe you've forgotten the fact that this is one of the many reasons I live on the ledge: THE GQP HAS WON.  If there's something out there that's remotely beneficial to the American people, they oppose it and put a stop to it.  With a nearly 100% success rate.  The main things our government manages to accomplish these days are things that FUCK the people, not things that help.  Every single thing that has been of benefit to those folks over the past 30 years has been either something snuck past the goalie, or just a rear-guard action by the Dems to keep bad things from happening.

Your logical fallacy is bullshit.  The Dems aren't the champions of the American middle class.  But they are damned well the only thing standing between the middle class and the prowling mob of leopards just outside, determined to eat the middle class's face.

My mom told me a few days ago on the phone that she and my dad feel guilty because they think they're the reason my brother and sister are Trump supporters. She said they always just defaulted republican so their kids (minus me) picked it up from them, that now they would never even think about voting democrat. I told them that's horseshit because I was raised by them as well and I didn't turn out like that. I very honestly think my sister going to Texas A&M had more to do with her dipshittery than my parents upbringing. Truthfully, growing up, I felt my parents were largely apolitical, they didn't talk about presidents or senators or any of that stuff growing up. This new trend of my 11 year old nephew and 8 year old niece both having a different favorite fox news anchor is not at all how I was raised.

My brother has pretty severe learning disabilities, and Trump's machine is largely aimed at bombarding people like him, so I don't blame him for that. But my sister is supposed to be educated, she should know the difference. Except her education came from Texas A&M, which is where she started down her path that lead to her being an evangelical christian trump supporter. The shit she supports Trump for, the seeds were planted at A&M.

Make sure to lecture your 11 year old nephew on the importance of picking the Fox News anchor with the biggest tits.  Because it sure can't be on the basis of anything intelligent Fox News anchors have to say, so go with the proper criterion.

my 5 year old is aware of who Trump and Harris are, but everything he hears about is how Trump is a bad man and he asks about it and we just explain to him in plain English not in some weird partisan way that the way Trump behaves and the things he does are not good for anyone to do. It's not about being political, it's about teaching your kids that being a scoundrel piece of shit isn't ok. I don't have all the positive things and whatever to say about Kamala, but it's easy not to have to explain why she is in court or why she is saying Mexicans are bad. It's crazy to think that my son who strongly identifies as Mexican can pick up on the background noise of ABC World News with Dave Miur and be like why doesn't he like Mexicans?

That's what is wrong with Trump.

My nephew likes Laura Ingrahm so I think those are the biggest bad boys on Fox News? IDK I don't keep up with their anchors.

To give a frame of reference to my sister's dipshit ideals: she goes around telling people her kids are Italian. There aint a damn drop of fucking italian in us or her husband, her husband is mexican as fuck and she's brown-skinned hispanic. But both *hate* latinos.

C'mon, man. Bigger picture, his Cheney comments are an absolute nothingburger. The fact that it's taking up oxygen for Democrats 3 days before the election really sucks.

I think it’s fantastic that Trump is dwelling on her and MAGA is wasting oxygen and tweets on it.

For MAGA it’s a distraction and will not change their votes or encourage or discourage them from voting.

For everybody else, it’s one more data point that he’s unhinged, and it’s sucking up time that would be used by MAGA in attacking Harris/spreading misinformation about her.

Exactly. Core Trump support isn't remotely tied to who didn't win the inflation lottery of the past couple years, in fact it can't be tied to it at all because of the very fact it goes back 8+ years.

To this day it is insane how people writ large still don't get who the core Trump supporters really are. It's upper middle suburban/exurban whites of certain persuasions. It's not Cleetus and Meemaw.

Well I'm reasonably good on econ and I disagree, but that doesn't matter. What's important is that they disagree. And if you think that's because they're too stupid evaluate their own lived experience, you should move to Washington DC and join a Democrat-aligned messaging firm, because you will fit right in.

You've obviously given this a lot of thought and I'm typing as I try to head out the door but I'd love to know how a group of relatively wealthy 50 to 80 year olds haven't benefitted from any of the prosperity over 30 years. What an incredible statement. They don't benefit from rising home equity or the stock market, which sinks under republicans? You're talking about people who'll complain about their property tax but then greedily hoard precious residential real estate, and witlessly block new laws that would help drive prices down. They're the first to look for an undocumented immigrant to clean their house and/or wipe their ass for them.

NAFTA, by the way, passed due to a majority of GOP votes. The repeal of Glass Steagall, well, the first named sponsor of the bill was Phil Gramm so that should give you a clue. However in the case of both NAFTA AND Glass Steagall the ONLY votes against were LIBERALS. The moderates worked with the right wingers to pass those bills.

tbh I'm not sure why you mention Glass-Steagall repeal but Bush was not prevented from taking action before the 2007 crash, 8 years later. So there's no proof the repeal of GS had anything to do with it. Meanwhile the GQP has fought pro-consumer regulation for 30 years, including regulation over the very same banks. And in fact the GQP Supreme Court has struck a death knell for an incredible amount of consumer protection laws. So please spare me the sanctimony.

Because that Atlanta gal?  WHEELHOUSE.

And Chili's chips and salsa?  WHEELHOUSE.

During my few trips through Atlanta, I’ve tried to book her but she’s always out of town on traveling multi day dates.  Im the meantime, I just follow her on Twitter and she’s sarcastic and hilarious.

I could teach a PhD level class on branding and pricing just using her as a case study.  We DM’ed about it once and she never thought of it that way.  Cool gal.

I get the impression she rakes it in.

Explaining simple, true things to kids is pretty fucking important and formative.  Case in point: when the Watergate hearings were happening, every network covered them.  Including PBS.  Which meant that toddler Brisket didn't get to watch his daily Sesame Street.  When I asked my mom what was going on, she explained to me "a very important man did something bad.  And it's not just that he did something bad, but he lied about it."  That was it.  I wasn't even 4 years old, and I fucking REMEMBER it, it was important.  It was TRUE, and it's a principle that guides me to this day.

Tell your kids in the plainest terms: the problem with Trump is that he lies all the time.  The problem with Trump is that he picks on people weaker than him.  The problem with Trump is that he gets people to like him by preaching hatred and calling other people names, not by doing good things.

But it seems like things are going our way now. I think the Democrats understand the danger.

All Trump did was continue those policies that got us to where we are.

I don't mean that just as a sleight on religion, she very openly is honest about distorting the truth to "protect" her kids from things she doesn't think they should know about. Like school shootings? Her kids flat out don't know about those, they think the drills are all hypothetical. My mom was taking care of my nephew once and mentioned something about a recent shooting and was shocked to learn about how they're cut off from that kind of news. She's the "all kinds of music except country music contains devil subliminal messages" kind of person that has her kids terrified of accidentally hearing rap music. She lies to them about their race. Their father is adopted and of course that's a HUGE no no secret, they can NEVER learn that. She's a vaccine denier, she tells her kids all sorts of ignorant horror stories about vaccines. The amount of shit my sister lies to her kids about honestly astounds me, it's such a shitty and disrespectful way to treat her own kids. One day her kids are going to learn the truth about all this stuff and they'll hopefully never trust her opinions on shit again.

i've always thought that was a massive reason why Kamala picked him.  i'm sure Newsom, Shapiro, Beshear, and Whitmer were thinking that if either Shapiro or Beshear got the VP nod, then the others could kiss POTUS away since the incumbent VP would most certainly be the odds on favorite to be the Dem nominee in 2034.  that may have stressed Kamala a bit, to give such a huge boost to one of those guys.  but i bet Walz told her that if she picks him and they win, he'd be 68 after 2 terms and has no interest in being POTUS.

that will leave the race wide open in 2032 for Newsom (who will be 65), Shapiro (who will be 59), Whitmer (who will be 62), and Beshear (who will be 54).

Pete will be 50 😁

Honestly this is the best argument flippable Haley/Bush/normie Republicans who plan to hold their nose for Donald Trump: presidents come and go until they decide they don’t want to leave office. We can be reasonably certain if President Harris is voted out she’ll leave. Trump has already proven he won’t.
