Wait until someone explains American Samoa to him.

With all due respect to James McGil, Trump has heard of American Samoa because its law school where most of his attorneys attended school.

I think his mind would be even more blown away to find out that the United State Virgin Islands are neither states nor full of virgins.  And then he's informed of the Mariana Islands are not in fact islands made of red sauce, similar to ketchup.

Yes, I'm sure you thought he was perfectly fine six months ago.  Dude, you can't hang around here posting shit for years and years and then pretend like you didn't.  You have a reputation for a reason.  No one is falling for your disingenuous bullshit.

I’ve rarely posted here on cr aside from the last few months.  Most of my disingenuous bullshit has been on some of the other boards.

You’ll find that as you grow as a person that you’re more accepting (aware) of others growth as well.
If you’re still stuck on my being disingenuous with my posts over the years maybe it’s because you’re in a bit of a slump personally? Idk

Or maybe just turn off embeds on DT and CR for a few weeks.  Give it it a shot during the off season. See if maybe that helps. Twitter is not all brain damaged cancer, but a shit load of what makes it posted here is.

Not going to be much left of Surly if you remove all the "brain damaged cancer." Maybe the food and travel board survives?

This is really not a bad idea. If you make it that Twitter shows up as a link like an article would and not an embed, you might limit some of the drive-by trolling. Plus, you force people to look at the actual tweet which will show the comments. So if something is bullshit or a troll job, it's normally something you immediately see. Or if you click a link you think is legitimate and a bunch of trolls, alt-right nut jobs, and bots are commenting, you'll have a pretty good idea that you're being played.

Trump threatens to lose the debate on purpose and the rules are making it rigged against him

GOP media is now claiming CNN is leaking the questions to Biden

Trump is not going to do this debate

My man, what's the argument? Have you watched many Trump speeches all the way through? More gaffes than Biden on Trump's best of days. Constantly confuses Biden with Obama. Can't talk seriously about any topic for 30 seconds. Lapses into odd groans out of nowhere (remember the clip where it looked like he literally pooped his pants?)

So, two old dudes. Both make gaffes and have old man mannerisms. But one is a competent man who surrounds himself with competent staff while the other is, at best, a moronic salesman who surrounds himself with nothing but yes-men and who lives to swindle the gullible, lazy, or unintelligent masses.

Also don't send me any fucking DMs I have nothing to say to you in private, I don't moderate that way with back room deals and side conversations.

Either get your shit together or take your brain rot to another community. Those are your options, Biden being old isn't off limits. Biden doing shit you don't like isn't off limits. Biden not being the person you vote for isn't off limits. Being a trump supporter isn't off limits.

Pushing a clearly false and debunked narrative with videos and complete horseshit commentary that you are clearly getting from obviously fucked sources who are purposefully pumping out disinformation at a factory level is off limits.

I've warned you several times and told you to get off Twitter for your own sake, but if you want to continue down the brain rot path that's up to you and it won't be here.

I have a history of extremely consistently hard moderation against disinformation like this. Not the "disinformation" some posters who are liberal with the word try to say.

Biden is a mush brained old man. I've said it a bunch of times before myself. That's not what the issue is here and if you can't understand the difference that's why you can't be a part of this community anymore.

Serious question, where do you live? If you live anywhere in the US, you keep some odd hours based on when you post.

The BBC seems to do a good job for the UK and beyond. I'd love to see an American version at least proposed.

PBS was originally almost totally government funded. It was to operate free of the need for private sector funding and government influence as well.

I believe it was the early 70s when PBS aired "The Banks and the Poor." Banks were outraged. Lobbyists flooded DC. Big money won as it always does. PBS federal funding was reduced. PBS had to walk the Earth rattling a tin can hoping for donations.

It would have been interesting had PBS been allowed to grow and evolve.

The fact that PBS and NPR survived the Reagan admin astounds me.

Trump has a plan to buy Hawaii for the US, might even make it a state when he sees how many white people live there. They even speak English, nobody knows that, lots of English spoken there…

Yup... some people are saying he will use the proceeds from the Puerto Rico sale to buy Hawaii.  Apparently too many people in Puerto Rico speak Mexican.

PBS had some great 1:1 or roundtable interview format news shows back in the day.  I go back and watch some old footage and the hosts just didn't give fuck one about tip-toeing around.  There's a great video at the Ransom Center e-archives of some former interns of Cronkite and Mike Wallace of CBS who took a lot of those two guys' approaches to interviews and made PBS an almost institution, but for that cliffdive of funding.   But it was robust research teams, fact checking, and editorial freedom.   Wild concepts in journalism these days.

I don't remember if it was high school or college but we watched that "The Banks" doc/investigative piece.  It, along with suburban sprawl, is what sparked so many regional and national branches opening up all around in America, EXCEPT in neighborhoods of colors.  they needed to remind you at every corner and pad site that they were involved in your community and not being mean to the poors.  The expanse of physical branches outside of CBD's goes on for about 35 years.  And then, finally they get religion and start opening up more branches in underbanked neighborhoods all across America.  Just in time for FinTech to take off and level the playing field (at least from an access and consumer empowerment standpoint, not necessarily loan results).  Now a part of the reason 10 physical bank branches shut down every single day in the United States.  No idea what the fuck we're do with those buildings.  Head of JP Morgan Austin told me years ago, that main teller lane structure on West Sixth and Lavaca.  They finally realized they made more money closing it and renting it out for parking than they did on the fees on any transactions occurring there (their in-office facility makes its nut per Ft.2).  He proposed they take the savings on real estate shutdowns of several branches and directly pump it into small business loans in formerly underbanked communities in the form of lower interest rates/fees due to the savings.  It was shot down, but stuff like that is a start.

I think NPR is still doing great work on the news side and has some 'star power' for nerds like us.  But that's another model that's gonna need to reinvent itself in a hurry to remain even slightly relevant.

It's just old man whining. We redid one our bathrooms with all new fixtures and I haven't heard any complaints about the shower head putting out less water from 3 females who all have long hair. Just the dumbest grievance whining and those poor saps just lap it up. The GOP just seems to be about useless bitching for the sake of bitching now.

On the surface, it's all laughable, but the GOP and Trump have managed to turn important issues like Climate Disaster, water resources, and anything else related to the environment into a laugh line. They care deeply about racism because they believe their white asses are victims of it.

I have trouble laughing at a lot of this stuff anymore. I checked on the thread about FOX "News" and saw the videos of bald-face lying.

I'll change my avatar to a wet blanket. Sigh.

I agree. People are fairly unhappy across the board that inflation has been high over the last 4 years. Trump isn't offering anything to turn back the clock, and Biden's team just has to remind people do they really want to go back to the chaos of Trump's final months in office but expand that for the next 4 years.

not too mention that Biden can remind everyone that Trump is a liar, a convicted (civil) sex offender, cheats at business, cheats on his wives, attempted a coup, has run fraudulent businesses,  is a narcissist, is ill informed, hires his relatives in the WH, use the POTUS seat to make money, uses the POTUS seat so his relatives make money, praises racists/bigots, saddles up to dictators, hates democratic elected allies, is on trial for hiding national security secrets, wants to be king without restraint, and so on and so on. Not to mention that Trump has moved on from almost every Reagan policy that the GOP acts is their ideal.

Biden is 100% slowing down and should not be President. But I would rather elect a comatose person over Trump.

Trump no-showing at the debate would be optimal situation. I don't think Biden is going to gain many votes from the "I can't decide between the convicted criminal rapist failed coup-attempting dictator and the guy who is slightly older" crowd.
