I’ll start slow. Because until 5 minutes ago you thought he won by half a point.

1. Young (We’re Never Going Back)

2. 61% approval rating in Pennsylvania

3. Smart and well spoken and will rip JD Vance to shreds

4.  Electoral college

5. Centrist politics; good counter balance to attacks on Kamala and good fit for Pennsylvania

Re: The bolded part: Stop acting like a little bitch because I'm skeptical of your boy. I just got his margin of victory mixed up in my head with someone else. Calm down.

That said, I don't necessarily disagree with anything you said there, however I'm wary/skeptical of:

  1. His ability to actually deliver Pennsylvania
  2. Some of his educational positions, such as his dogshit, GOP-aligned school voucher support (not all of his positions here are bad, he has some good ones too)
  3. His extremely authoritarian response to legal protests
  4. Support for the death penalty
  5. Support for even more draconian penalties for drug-related crime (even possession of small amount of marijuana)

I'm not sure he plays well outside of Pennsylvania and I'm skeptical he can even deliver that. And that's not even mentioning the other stuff being discussed in this thread.

He supports the death penalty? That's not a good look.

That doesn’t sound right. I thought he called on the legislature to abolish it and said he wouldn’t sign any death warrants as governors

No glad handing in Houston after her event the other day. She made her speech and left. I'm wondering if that was as a result of Trump's attack or just her style. Very different from Biden.

They were trying to free prisoners of Russia, maybe she had stuff related to that

On second look, this appears to have changed. Striking it out of my original post.

I understand this is the internet and you seem to only care about how many points you can score, but he did support the death penalty as AG, prior to taking the governorship. To his credit, his position has since changed, hence my retraction.

You're still being a little bitch.

Gov. Josh Shapiro called for legalizing marijuana, and the state’s need for revenue could help make it a reality

you’re bad at this. And Shapiro is like my 3rd choice for VP. But I’m not going to shit my pants over it.

You realize these things aren't mutually exclusive, right? Please tell me you realize that.

just make a shorter list:

1. I disagree with his views on Israel and Palestine.

that’s fine.  But let’s not just start throwing a bunch of shit against the wall and hoping it sticks.

Yeah I was thinking the same. Wasn't totally sure though.

instantly triggered name calling.

Nah I'm dropping the argument, but in my defense all I did was ask what he thought was great about Shapiro. Homeboy then immediately implied I was stupid because I mixed up a margin of victory in my head, despite the fact that I admitted I was wrong well before he made the post, and I hadn't insulted anyone at all. Maybe I shouldn't clap back, but that's just not how I'm programmed.

But yeah, it's my fault, I guess.

I would prefer a candidate for VP that people can rally around that won't instantly piss off the purity testing left. Walz or Beshear fit the bill. Shapiro's state is the only thing I like from him. He has the most possible negatives. Walz and Beshear's only negatives are they don't have enough name recognition and their states aren't that key to winning. That said, I think both could greatly help with reaching out to the middle in the Rust Belt. Walz is a midwest guy, hell he's the stereotype. Beshear can get you red state people. I also think Beshear gives you something that is a perfect antidote to people who white people who might be leery about voting for a black woman. He is representation. He's a young, white male. He has the perfect suburban looking family. People can see themselves in a guy like him. Just that's a form of racial bias but I think he and his family would play really well with that demo. I think Walz could charm anyone over to his side with his Minnesota attitude. He feels like the living embodiment of Tommy Callahan Sr from Tommy Boy.

My preference would be Walz>Beshear>>>>>>>>Shapiro.

Yeah this says it pretty well, I think. Shapiro being picked certainly won't stop me from voting for Harris, but I would much prefer Walz or Beshear.

You think the purity testing progressive maximalists wouldn’t magically find a dozen reasons to shit all over Walz or Beshears. That’s adorable.
Anyone but a resurrected Hugo Chavez is a fascist to them.

I keep going back and forth between Walz and Beshear for who I think is the best option. The guy I like more (Walz) vs the guy who might give Harris the best boost (Beshear) are basically tied for first in my book.

A distant third is Kelly (boring, might not give her much unless the campaign knows something we don't know), and fourth is Shapiro.

Well sure. But don’t give it to them on a silver platter. 300k of taxpayer money and an NDA. For telling a subordinate you want to bend her over a desk and who knows what else. And keeping the prick on the payroll for a year until the press gets hold of it.

It's also worth noting that either Walz or Beshear or both most likely have opinions regarding Israel/Palestine that I would personally find shitty, but it is effectively a non-issue for me when it comes to the election. Pretty much any person that would be on the ticket is going to have the default NPC American politician position, and anyone in the orbit of Trump's GOP would be much worse, in any case.

I'm not, and never have been interested in purity tests, only who gives the best +EV to beat Trump. I think Shapiro is too risky of a candidate compared to the others.

Oh that. Shapiro didn’t harass or molest or assault anyone. Cool. Happened after he took office so no election interference. Also cool. The guilty party resigned, a settlement was paid to the victim. Doesn’t sound like a huge stain on Shapiro, especially when the Republican nominee has been found personally liable for sexual assault; has been ordered to pay tens of millions of dollars to his victim for defaming her; continues to defame her and might get sued again; is a serial adulterer and misogynist; and paid hush money to a porn star during his campaign to cover up their affair. But Shapiro had an employee who sexually harassed someone and you’re not happy with the way it was handied. So same same, I guess.

This is what we mean when we say Republicans can get away with all kinds of grotesque misconduct but Democrats have to be just exactly perfect about everything. It’s an impossible double standard.

I don’t think it’s a big deal and I doubt whether it would get much attention during the campaign. Shapiro didn’t harass anyone. Trump’s been accused of rape. Advantage Shapiro.

It's still a bad look and will be weaponized. Hillary's e-mails were not actually a bad thing and they got a LOT of mileage out of that nothingburger. Why risk it?

You're dropping the argument (because you're the bigger man).

In your defense (you were just asking questions).

Homeboy then immediately implied you were stupid (so you had to defend yourself).

You got one of your facts about margin of victory wrong (but admitted it, so you're all good.  You also "mis-spoke" about Shapiro and the death penalty.

You hadn't insulted anyone at that time (but maybe later, but you're programmed to retaliate or "clap back." Hey, you can't stop heredity!).

But it's your fault?

With that said, if Kamala and her team pick Shapiro then let's just fucking go. Winning is all that matters now.

Literally everything I've been thinking.  GET OUT OF MY BRAIN!  (though Brian Dennehy admittedly wasn't a part of it)

Says the guy who thought the bipartisan border bill was a Biden bluff. You reaffirm my take on Shapiro.
