Not everyone believes this is as close as the media is telling you it is.  A close race gets eyeballs.

Every pollster is terrified of being wrong again, whether it's 2016/2020 or 2022, that they are likely overcompensating to get the results they want.  "We told you it could go either way and it did!" as they publish the 18th poll showing a swing state as +1 Harris / tie / +1 Trump.

That may be so and I wouldn't be particularly surprised if it ends up being basically 2020 round 2, with a little more margin in the rust belt and giving GA and maybe AZ back.

The thing for me is that Trump is going to get is 46% again and it's very somber to know that so much of the country, well... *gestures*

Assuming Trump loses and his political career is considered over, gotta hope it's been a Grima Wormtongue situation for these people and the fog lifts once the MAGA curse is gone.

So apparently JD Fucking Vance is on town tonight. I learned this by trying to drive to my office and finding cops closing all the major roads. Literally no warning. I am fuming right now in traffic.

Harris campaign launches new GOP outreach group in Georgia

Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan is headlining a new campaign effort to motivate Republican skeptics of former President Donald Trump to back Vice President Kamala Harris in November.

Duncan will join former U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh of Illinois in Roswell on Thursday to launch the Republicans for Harris in Georgia initiative. They’ll be joined at the event by Baoky Vu, a Georgia GOP elector who resigned in 2016 rather than cast a ballot for Trump.

That's just the Deep State y'all.

Nerd alert!  Also, cmon man.  His political career only dies when he does and the majority of the cult will never change. They may fade into oblivion, but they will never admit they were conned.

He did say this was his last campaign. I think this one has taken its toll.

You shouldn't have kept your trap shut.

I mean, you don't have to be an ass about it, but you could've said something in a naive tone of wonderment like, "I've heard that Europeans have really have great healthcare. What are they doing so differently than us? Why can't we get some of that?"

This was from yesterday, and I'll look for the video from today, but he's looking a lot more winded/tired than in the past.  My wife doesn't watch anything with him in it regularly, and she saw a short clip from this week and mentioned that he looked off/tired.  78 years is catching up with him fast, and he has to have read some of Jack Smith's stuff with all of those Republicans testifying against him.

You can watch a video of the same speech here:

https://www.c-span.org/video/?538809-1/president-trump-campaigns-waunakee-wisconsin

And Colbert was talking about it last night

https://www.thewrap.com/stephen-colbert-monologue-donald-trump-decline-cbs/

Quote

“But I don’t know how much meat is left on the bone. Trump’s beginning to look pretty worn out. For instance, yesterday, he was at a factory in Wisconsin, where he took his crowd of MAGA faithful on a trip to the land of quiet sadness,” he said.

At this, Colbert rolled a clip from a speech in which a very obviously exhausted Trump, slurring his words, said, “One day we will be filled with opportunity and hope. We don’t have opportunity. We don’t have hope anymore. In this country, there’s no hope your kids. You have beautiful kids, and you know, they don’t even know what to do. There’s no hope.” “That’s inspiring stuff,” Colbert quipped. “It reminds me, reminds me of that classic motivational poster, “soon this cat will fall and die.’”

Quote

“Another sign that his brain may have stepped on a banana peel, Trump tried to thank the hosts of the event like this,” Colbert continued, before cueing up footage from later in the same speech, when Trump said: “This speech on the economics and bringing back business and things. And it’s a great plant and a beautiful couple, a beautiful, a beautiful, Mr. And Mrs. Couple.”

After joking that this sounded like “a wedding DJ who lost his notes,” Colbert then noted how Trump returned to his weird obsession with toilets, delivering the following barely coherent remarks “You gotta see the bathrooms that they project, for people. I can’t talk to you about because they’re so gross. They’re basically water- free bathrooms. Water-free. No water. This is not good.”

Quote

“Later, Trump took his remaining functional brain cells, dumped them in a little red wagon, and dragged them to Milwaukee, where he spoke to the press about Afghan soldiers,” Colbert continued. At this he ran a clip of Trump rambling on about how Afghan soldiers are like “a million Rambos.”

“Sounds crazy, I know, but they actually did make a million Rambos,” Colbert responded. “There’s Rambo: First Blood. Rambo: Last Blood. Rambo: Wait, There’s More Blood, Rambo: That’s Just Ketchup, and Rambo: Nope, It Was Blood.”

He knows he couldn't win a fourth time and most likely he'll be able to continue grifting without campaigning.

He controls the RNC and it's coffers - they can keep funneling money into his PACs and properties.

Hah.  That is nothing.  When dotard was president, I worked down the street from the small commuter airport he would fly into to golf at Bedminster.  Every Friday at 4:30 pm in summer he would fly in, and all the roads would shut down.  Without fail.

I know it's far from the worst thing he's done, but the selfishness of shutting down all those roads at Friday rush hour to get a game of golf in was infuriating.

You don't get the fully open spigot, pouring every dollar into your pockets, unless you're a candidate.  If he loses, he will announce his campaign for 2028 within 90 days.  It ALSO gives him the argument of "ELECTION INTERFERENCE!" to scream about regarding his continued prosecution.

He has found the most lucrative, ego-stroking exercise of his life.  He won't let go of it till he's dead and buried.

He can announce it, but he's not going to actively campaign.  And Cannon won't delay his trial until 2029.

And do you honestly think the BMDs will allow him to hang around and continue to taint the GOP?  Vance is just a glimpse of what's to come - he's got Thiel money backing him, but there will be others, most likely people we are not considering (it won't be Cruz or DeSantis).

Trump controls the MAGA mob, he isn't going anywhere. The GOP will have to live with Trump.

It's like when that Sports Store owner handed over control to Tony in the Sopranos.

While I agree, and he could say 2020 was stolen from him, but if he loses to a black woman? 2 straight losses to sleepy Joe and Comrade Harris? He’s cooked. You will see the knives come out from the ones who want to run - Cruz, Vance, Haley, etc

I think it will more likely be something like the BMDs will start funneling money directly to candidates and PACs and completely ignoring the RNC.  MAGA can only send so much money to Trump.

And I would not be surprised if Three-Toes, Boobert, Gym Jordan, Gaetz, etc., have well-funded Republicans running against them in the primaries.

The BMDs are not going to risk Trump and Co. keeping them out of power for 12 years.

I am confident that 3 or 4 pro-choice voters might take a chance on Trump because Melania wrote a book.

Wonder how many evangelicals might throw up their hands and say "Why bother?" Maybe quite a few.

I might be wrong, but I don’t see this as entirely bad. Every news cycle that talks about Biden‘s plan for loan forgiveness, no matter the blah blah blah after it, reinforces the news that Biden is trying to help younger college students out from their predatory loans.      Publicity is publicity.

Brave of you to assume the average American possesses the critical thinking skills needed to analyze that information. In reality, most will just think “Biden = president, forgiveness = blocked, therefore Biden is at fault. #MAGA”

You’d think the GOP nominee’s wife coming out as full on pro choice would be a bigger deal.  Welp, throw it on the pile.

Agree. It takes the wind out of the sails of conservatives that will melt down over “socialism” while reinvigorating progressives by showing one side is trying to help and the other says fuck you we need that money for billionaire tax cuts.

That would require evangelicals to actually have principles. They literally think trump is jesus cause libruls bad. That's all they fucking care about. They would have rejected him a long time ago if their supposed "values" really mattered even a little to them.

This.

If the BMDs are thinking they can get away with turning their back on the Lord God Trump....they are fucking WRONG.  That is the path to losing a necessary chunk of voters.  They cannot win shit nationally without rabid MAGAs showing up.  They have to suck Trump's dick, or they will lose those voters.

The GQP is all-Trump, all-MAGA until he dies....and probably after.  Because it needs the cultists.

Ok so 43% of voters minimum will be pulling the lever for Trump.  Who the fuck are they and how can they possibly do that?  Here’s my guess:

3% of voters are single issue sexists; they simply will not vote for a woman for president

5% of voters a truly reprehensible human beings.  They’re racist, sexist, classist pieces of shit.

7% of voters are single issue anti-abortion voters.

9% of voters are completely ignorant of where either candidate stands on any given issue; they know absolutely nothing and really couldn’t give you a reason why they vote the way they do; this number may be shocking but I would bet it’s actually much higher

9% of voters are single issue personal income tax voters (many of them are misinformed on how each candidate will actually impact their own income tax bill)

10% of voters are single issue racist voters; they vote for the candidate they think will prioritize white interests over the interests of non-whites

Those numbers I pulled out of my ass but I’d be interested in how the board thinks it breaks down or what data/research actually shows.
