Hmmmmm…..

My bad. Biden is a great candidate and so is Trump.

Definitely the two best people that we have a choice between.

What are you guys confusing here? You want me to say Biden is an outstanding presidential candidate or even a good one? He's not good. In his prime he wasn't good enough to get the nomination. He got it in 2020 against *checks notes* a literal clown show of morons which included a gay mayor of a shitty town who was a McKinsey consultant. A bat shit crazy self described socialist who is even older and had a heart attack. An equally old academic turned politician who couldn't land an argument with the people. Kamamala Harris and what other ragtags am I missing?

Sure in that field of competition he's outstanding and definitely the best choice.

Trump is a terrible candidate in a sea of even worse candidates.

Here is my voting philosophy:

I don’t give a shit about my taxes going up 10% …  or getting a tax break … or whatever personal benefit.

— When women are running for their lives to get reproductive care or face murder charges for abortion...

— When brown people are being herded on trains for the Rio Grande…

— When gun-loving racist psychopaths are shooting immigrants at the border, at schools, at Walmarts, etc...

— When educators are threatened/fired/marginalized by Christians ready to impose 10 Commandment idiot world Bible school on the secular education systems across America…

— When science, scientists, and doctors are under attack by the same idiot world MAGA-GQP.

— When environmental regulations are being rolled back wholesale so corporations and polluters can destroy ecosystems and usher in an extinction event.

— When MAGA-GQP is a violent hateful cult with a 100% fascist-theocratic blueprint called Project 2025.

Any one of those above will have me voting for an old Biden … every fucking time.

You vote every fucking time.

A lot of people don't. In fact if "nobody" was an option that was default among registered but non voters I believe it would have won several of the recent presidential elections.

You guys think it's a decision between trump and Biden. It includes sitting out, which I feel many will do.

This is sadly true, and it's part of why I think Trump is going to win.

There are a lot of people who would never vote for Trump, but they think Biden is too old, or they just don't like him for whatever reason, so they will go vote for RFK or just stay home.

I also think it's likely that there will be voter suppression and other shenanigans in some key places like Florida and Ohio.

I know too many people who are saying things like, "Trump can't win again, no way."  This is blindness.  He's leading in all the important places, and he outperformed his polling last time.  If he does that again, he's going to win fairly easily.  Does anybody think Biden has some silent voting bloc that isn't showing up in the polls, but will show up on Election Day?  Because Trump probably does, again.

I hope the felony conviction and the debates can change things, but I'm afraid we're heading for a very dark chapter.

Despite what all of you very engaged people thing the disengaged don't fucking care about any of this shit. They just want things to be good and for life to be enjoyable.

What does the disengaged care about? You keep referencing this contingent and that Biden does nothing for them. What specifically do they want that Biden doesn’t represent?

How could Biden make their life good and enjoyable?

The people who feel that way don't need a specific answer in order to feel that way.  They're unhappy with status quo, and Joe Biden is the epitome of status quo.

By being relatable and focusing on shit that pisses off politicians but makes the populace happy.

Like shitting on people who make trades while in office.

Leaning in big time on mega corps and the FTC cases to break up monopolies that are clearly fucking consumers.

Leaning in on extreme consumer protection policies like not being able to call things sales without proof of historical pricing etc.

Actual outreach and education campaigns on the net positives of immigration and the good of the mixing pot effect.

Leaning in on sports, one of America's greatest exports and producers of gdp.

Leaning in on public safety measures

Doing literally anything related to bank or finance reform instead of just calling plays from the good ole hope playbook.

You know the stuff he does and gets a good bump and then fucks off and doesn't keep his foot on the gas with.

who doesn't agree with things like loan forgiveness

Why don’t you agree with student loan forgiveness? Student loans are specifically carved out from bankruptcy relief. How many fucking companies have we bailed out in my 50 plus years on this planet? I have paid well over a million dollars in federal taxes over my career, and I would much rather see it go to helping poor people who can’t afford their student loans than to pay the fucking million dollar bonuses to investment bankers on Wall Street

At least the auto industry bailout helped actual workers keep their jobs

I think that it's a guise to continue keeping the American consumer acting irrationally. I don't care about the forgiveness itself but debt jubilee is one of the ways to attempt to gracefully deleverage a debt cycle.

We are hoping to limp this bitch to November before any major consumer liquidity crunch happens.

I think loan forgiveness makes a ton of sense in a vacuum. I also think bail outs make no sense in a vacuum.

Also to be clear I'm talking about what I see as the problems not my personal feelings. (I am pro loan forgiveness, but know a lot of people who are not who will begrudgingly vote for Biden or not vote at all)

The entire premise of my posts today has centered around extremism with disenfranchised independents and disengaged moderates which compose 60%+ of the voting populace.

It's a real issue and if you don't think so you are an extremist moron. So put your critical thinking cap back on and think about how you prevent Trump from being elected through energizing the 60% of people who don't give a fuck right now.

Further to this I think the 2014-2022ish cycle saw a growing extremist contingent on either side of the spectrum and we are in a clear extremist decay in the post 2022 world. People are fed up with the ineffectiveness of extremism and the unintended consequences of it. Extremists also alienate normies that were fringe after a while.

It's June, homey. There's little reason to get anyone engaged yet. We're still months out and the other side is continually and repeatedly tripping over their dicks. I will say this about Biden's admin - they seem to time things really well. I expect a YUGE election push in the next few months targeting exactly these people and telling them exactly why they should vote for him. Doing it now is a waste of time and money. Let the other side keep showing their flaws and watch Biden continue to rack up wins in anticipation of re-election. The one thing Biden HQ has shown me is they do time things well. We'll see if they do in the biggest test yet.

You’re going to have to walk me through how that matters.

GDP for 2023 was 27.36T. 2024 is forecast to be that +/- 1%

Student loan forgiveness to date has been 167B and has benefited about 10% of Americans carrying federally subsidized debt.

Clearly these are massive numbers so let’s break it down to something we can relate to.

Student debt relief comes to 0.6% of GDP. I’m not great with numbers but to me that looks like for every $1000 of gdp we spend $6 on loan forgiveness. Hell my bank charges me 2% if I want immediate access on any check I deposit for more than $100

So what do the people who had debt forgiven do with the $?

1) save it (LMFAO)

2) spend it

3) give it away?

4) burn it?

The only one ignorant is the person who is ignoring the full list of issues that Immamac listed just above.

Immamac does a very good job of describing why the moderates and disengaged  aren’t happy with voting for either candidate. Some of the issues he describes are why I’m not excited about either candidate, although overall I’m okay with Biden. Given who Trump is, I plan to vote for a rotting cadaver in a casket ahead of Trump, and I damn well will vote.

What continually blows me away … about entrepreneurs and so-called “independents."

Is they blindly believe the MAGA-GQP (formerly Republican) propaganda: to 100% cheerlead for unbridled capitalism and corporations …. which is a smoke screen so they can impose their “law and order” violent fascist theocracy. Always has been… decades in development. At least since Nixon and Reagan-Falwell. 98% of conservatives on this site are still blinded by the propaganda.

MAGA-GQP keep Corporate America and business people largely on their team … and looking the other way …. with tax breaks and favorable policies, while raking in the huge donations to fund, build, and impose their fascist regime.

— So they all bring up the same old “economic” issues: the “debt" … "my taxes” … immigrants "taking jobs” … or their favorite scary boogeyman: “socialism."

— And there are the independents who complain about the status quo … when what they mostly want are lower taxes and less regulations.

Meanwhile, we are millions of light years from socialism …. or the status quo … when MAGA-GQP is poised to overthrow democracy and install their 10 Commandment Reign of Terror.

To not see that … to not see democracy itself is stake is … well … absolute willful denial.

Hopefully they spend it. You really think 0.6% is going to fuel inflation?

What the fuck does this have to do with the pending consumer liquidity crunch? Inflation isn't caused by a liquidity crunch. It's a major factor in a liquidity crunch. Paired with high interest rates it's a powder keg.

Spending it helps the economy. That’s the whole point. Now people are more able to buy a home, for example

This is precisely what I was saying when I said trying to limp this bitch to November. Except people don't buy homes with it, they spend it on stupid shit from companies that are fucking them with insane margins. The American consumer cannot hold any company accountable and regularly commits the cardinal sin of buying shit they know is a ripoff because status or brain tingles.

I don’t understand your question. I asked you to talk me through how student loan forgiveness has any meaningful effect on a “pending consumer liquidity crunch.” Rather than address my question you have asked more questions of me.

I am simply pointing out how tiny an effect the total amount spent on student loan forgiveness to date has on our economy.

You think that consumers spending the equivalent of increasing their minimum credit card payment to their student debt payment is tiny and inconsequential?

@immamac is not wrong.  Trump isn’t finished yet, and even if this conviction proves to be his downfall with voters, it would be a huge mistake to take that as enthusiastic support for Biden and everything he’s been doing.  Both parties are very disconnected from the average voter, and a huge swath of the population is >< close to voting for Adolf Shitler just to see something, anything, change in the seemingly oblivious leadership of the country.  If the Dems ignore that, we’ll continue this dance with democratic death for the foreseeable future.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/show/how-republican-voters-feel-about-trump-and-the-election-after-his-conviction

Amna Nawaz:

So you watched this focus group today with a group of voters the day after that guilty verdict. How were they reacting?

Laura Barron-Lopez:

Amna, this focus group was of voters who voted for Donald Trump twice in 2016 and in 2020. And they were slightly already a little souring on him, but some of them could have very well gone back to him.

And it was conducted by a group run by Republican strategist Sarah Longwell. And so after this verdict, they said, about six of them, there were nine total, about six of those voters said that the fact that these were felonies that Trump was convicted of carried more weight for them than if they had been misdemeanors.

And out of those nine voters, five of them said that this made them less likely to support Donald Trump, including 52-year-old Michele from Florida.

Michele, Florida:

I'm tired of the lies. I'm tired of the nonsense. And I believed the testimony. And that is why I am happy that the jury found him guilty. And I think also, now that he is a convicted felon, he's completely unfit. He can't pass a basic security clearance at this point.

I'm not sure if he can vote in Florida. He may not be allowed to go to different countries as a felon. This is not appropriate. Knock it off, Republicans. Find somebody else.

Laura Barron-Lopez:

And Michele, that voter, Amna, Michele, she had voted for Republicans her entire life, voted for Trump twice. But this verdict carried a lot of weight with her. It carried a lot of weight with a number of the other voters, who also some of them raised January 6 as something — the insurrection as something that had started to convince them that they maybe couldn't vote for Trump again.

Yeah that payoff was politically motivated.  The timing of her shopping the story probably was as well.  The eventual reimbursement came from money only available due to his having a campaign, right?  And being a candidate is what made it illegal.   The entire thing is political.

The only reason any of those failed is because a completely crooked political party with no morals whatsoever made them go away. And you obviously never read the Mueller Report because it showed that it was anything but a hoax. It said in black and white that Trump was so slippery he didn’t leave any damning evidence to convict but clearly they believed he was guilty. So ill informed.

Saying Biden is a good candidate is laughable and if you believe that it's actually the reason the country is rotting.

He's an out of touch octogenarian who's spent his entire life in an alternate universe of politics and is only running because he's an incumbent and only ran in 2020 because he felt like trump was psychotic and he was compelled to.

He rarely speaks to the populace and there's basically no policy being driven by the admin for current issues that actual impact Americans in big ways (social media, big tech, centralized everything, grift utilities and infrastructure etc)

I don't think Biden sucks, I don't think it's an impossible choice for the existence of the nation I think it's an impossible choice for anything else. Bidens policies don't align with a ton of people, but they will still vote for him anyway because in this absurd world we live it has become existential.

With all due respect, you're a moron. Biden has been one of the best Presidents of all time. If your "both sides" syphilitic mind can't comprehend why, that's on you.
