2024 Presidential Election Thread - Let's keep the party going.

I have a serious sense of foreboding this morning for some reason.  The French elections are turning toward fascism.  The fact that the GOP nominee is a convicted felon seems to have already been memory-holed by most of the population.  The UK seems to have woken up a bit, but I just have a bad feeling that we are going to slowly slide into the abyss.

“…I say what would happen if the boat sank from its weight and you’re in the boat and you have this tremendously powerful battery and the battery is now underwater and there’s a shark that’s approximately 10 yards over there. By the way, a lot of shark attacks lately. You notice that? A lot of shark. I watched some guys justifying it today. Well, they weren’t really that angry. They bit off the young ladies leg because of the fact that they were, they were not hungry, but they misunderstood what, who she was. These people are cray. He said there’s no problem with sharks they just didn’t really understand a young woman swimming. Now really got decimated and other people too. A lot of shark attacks. So I said, so there’s a shark 10 yards away from the boat. 10 yards over here. Do I get electrocuted if the boat is sinking, water goes over the battery, the boat is sinking. Do I stay on top of the boat and get electrocuted or do I jump over by the shark and not get electrocuted because, I will tell you, he didnt know the answer. He said, you know, nobody’s ever asked that question. I said, I think it’s a good question. I think there’s a lot of electric current coming through that water, but you know what I’d do if there was a shark or you get electrocuted? I’ll take electrocution every single time. I’m not getting near the shark.”

A. Escaped metal patient

You're confusing me now.  Is this a "Incredulity" account with a period on the end in white text so we can't see it?

I really just can't with these young voter interviews. Voting third party has never made less sense than it has for the last 8 years. The 3rd party candidate is also an old, white, "elite" who seems absurdly unlikeable and has literal brain worms.

Vote in a fucking primary or vote 3rd party in some local races if you want to express dissatisfaction with the two-party system, you fucking morons.

I was perhaps more of an idealist a decade ago, but I sure as shit never considered voting for Gary Fucking Johnson. There's a reason third party candidates don't ever get a significant percentage of the vote. They aren't serious people with serious platforms, so stop pretending otherwise.

I know this rant has been repeated ad nauseam, but goddamn, young "adults", get your shit together.

If they were, they’d start at the local level and work up instead of running vanity grift campaigns for president.

Once upon a time, Donald Trump was a third party candidate.  Then the GOP collectively said one day "he's our guy!".  And here we are.

She was such a humanist, just ask the McSherry family.  She'd fit right in with the modern GOP.

Trump must have some evidence that he's in trouble. He's basically starting to bribe people to vote for him. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/06/10/trump-taxes-on-tips-nevada.html

Quote

“Hotel workers and people that get tips, you’re going to be very happy because when I get to office, we are going to not charge taxes on tips,” Trump said at the Las Vegas rally. “We’re going to do that right away, first thing in office.”

Even his campaign had to respond that they know Trump cannot do this without congressional approval but the average voter will not know this. Trump really is the kid running for elementary school class president by promising more recess.

So what is it about being near the electric boat/battery but not actually onboard that saves one from being electrocuted?

Yeah, If his hypothetical all-electric boat sinks.  And he rides it down with the idea that he then treads water above it, it's the same "electrocution" effect 2 feet above it than 2 feet to the side of it.  I mean, assuming his insane hypothetical is true.  Also, he does realize that almost all motorized, gas-powered boats still have batteries on them (starter, radio, lights, etc.)?  And that even a mid-size yachts or houseboat have redundant battery systems on them that are the size of a Mini Cooper.  I mean, he's lived near the water his whole life almost (NYC & FL), he's seen large boats.  I think he even owned a yacht at one point but is too much of a beta to not get out on the water.  But he has to know they have batteries on them already.  And yes, you can get electrocuted in water, but he doesn't seem to understand how it would carry through the water.

Anyway, obligatory Shark Party:

I wonder if Sirhan Sirhan has a son.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing before I scrolled down to your post.  Surely over the course 55 years of incarceration, some wealthy fellow Jordanian oil tycoon bribed some people to get Sirhan a few conjugal visits There's gotta be a young adult out there somewhere in a state where you can buy an AR-15 with a DL that says, "Sirhan Goldberg."  And daddy Sirhan's rattling the prison fence-line, "Avenge me, son!  Avenge me!  Take the shot."  But then the son is like, "But I don't want to get the vaccine."  Fucking simulation.

With Trump promising to end income tax on tips as a campaign gimmick, Biden should call Trump’s bluff.  Publicly proclaim it a great idea and ask Mike Johnson place it for a vote immediately.

see all the conservative head’s explode with a tax break only for the lower (mostly) income folks.

Why would Trump not want to give tax breaks immediately for the masses by waiting until 2025?

Why would Trump not want immigration reform immediately by waiting until 2025?
