The rest of Germany's political parties have a pretty easy slogan here.  "AfD says they're not nazis.  But all the nazis want you to vote for AfD.  Don't be a nazi.  Don't vote for AfD."

Sure, that will actually INCREASE the enthusiasm among the hard right, but among the rest of Germans who have a deep social memory of nazi bullshittery, it matters.  AfD has been running away HARD from its reputation as a replacement nazi party.  Having it's most powerful supporter being an open fucking nazi has to put a dent in that effort.

Despite Elon having the back side of his hear look like nearly every guy at the nursing home... he got that salute pretty close the first time, but point on the second time.

Good news is 1/3 of the country is gleeful, 1/3 is terrified. And 1/3 thinks Elon is cood and doesn't know what the fuck a Nazi is. But that symbol dealie is sort of cool, what's the big deal?

Maybe. In another world.  But this world of corruption will absorb all information and AI will pretty easily identify any dissent.  Or do you think the folks standing in line to get even richer beyond imagination are going to restrict data access?  You won't be able to buy the rope, because of your search history.

Anything pledged by Masayoshi Son should be viewed with skepticism.  He pledged $50B to investing in America and creating 50,000 jobs. This was either in 2017 or 2018. Big press conference with Trump. Then he proceeded to spend a large chunk of this in his propping up WeWork and losing most of it. He claimed the 50,000 jobs successful by counting the WeWork customers as job creation. Zero sense. Son, Altman and Ellison do not have $500B to invest in this unless they use some creative accounting like when Trump estimates his net worth.

While I hate agreeing with Musk, he's right about this being a false announcement at least with these investment levels. Not to mention that the right used to complain when the federal govt attempted to pick winners in an industry.

Also. Trump has little or nothing to do with this, nor does the government.  It was commenced during the Biden administration.  These are just people gobbling his crank.

NY Times: Reddit Users Boycott X Links After Elon Musk’s Gesture at Inaugural Event

SF Gate (formerly the SF Chronicle: Elon Musk's Nazi salute sparks widespread Reddit revolt

Quote

A rapid revolt against Elon Musk’s X is building on Reddit, with hundreds of the San Francisco-based social media site’s forums considering bans of all links to X, formerly known as Twitter.

After Musk sparked a wave of ire with back-to-back Nazi salutes at an Inauguration Day event in Washington, D.C., on Monday, the bans quickly swept across Reddit. Such a move is not unheard of — moderators can ban links to specific sites, meaning that posts and comments including X links are easy to block.

Quote

Even in typically apolitical communities on the platform, posts suggesting bans of X links garnered tens of thousands of upvotes. Many subreddits, including massive subs such as r/NBA and r/hockey, are waiting on pending decisions by the groups of volunteer moderators that run each of Reddit’s forums. Some are running polls.

Others were quicker to act. An r/Christianity moderator told the 512,000-member subreddit on Tuesday that X links had been banned, pairing the announcement with a video of Musk’s salute. The New Jersey subreddit’s moderator team included a crossed-out photo of the salute and wrote, “F—k this guy. X links are now banned from r/newjersey.” (Musk downplayed the salute in social media posts but hasn’t directly addressed the incident.)

Quote

While slews of commenters praised the bans out of a distaste for Musk, others had a simpler reason for disliking X: a recent change that limits non-logged-in usage. Links to Twitter accounts and posts still load if you aren’t logged in, but viewing responses and using other functions requires an X account. “I stopped clicking Twitter links when they started asking me to log in,” a commenter in r/Christianity wrote.

A variety of other subreddits meant for specific places have quickly employed bans, including Salt Lake City, Baltimore and the state of Georgia. In r/LosAngeles, a moderator posted that though they’d already blocked twitter.com, they’d missed x.com and would now “fix that.”

Quote

On the 4.8 million-member r/Formula1 forum, a moderator announced the ban as temporary and with some exceptions, but they wrote: “We hope that this trial period will provide a nudge for F1 journalists, creators and teams to make their content available on alternative platforms as we intend to make this ban permanent in some form.”

Widespread is putting it mildly.  I can’t fucking check Reddit without seeing dozens of subreddits I don’t subscribe to asking if Twitter should be banned from them (meanwhile the /r/Dallas/ mods are deleting threads and banning people trying to get a Twitter ban)

Elon is a bitch. If you post or comment on any of the anti Musk subs, you get permanently banned from the Tesla Reddit sub somehow.

There are a lot, frankly too many of these band name posts. Dulls the brand a lot.

Goblin Crank is an exception to that rule.

Welcome to the Democratic People's Republic of America.

Let this be a lesson to everyone - criticize the admin and it's minions, on your public social media with your name and job, and you're probably getting reported and harassed likely fired.

And SCOTUS will triple stamp the shit out of that.

Imagine what social media would have been like had it existed in Germany from the mid-1930s to 1945.  Well, you really don't have to imagine.  It's what it's like right now.

He has moved into Naziism.  He supports far-right violent extremists who are proud Nazi's and he supports far-right political groups who use Neo-Nazi code words and deny the holocaust, and pretend it was the US who was at fucking fault for WW2.   He is a wannabe Nazi.   The original Nazi's would have steralized him at best and executed him and his kids for being defective.

The shitty truth is that it's both.  He's cosplayed at naziism because it ingratiates him with 4chan loser types from whom - for some stupid reason - he desperately craves love and admiration.

However, as a result of plunging into that ecosystem, he now actually believes as they do.  Because he is the most gullible fucking idiot alive.  Seriously, he has no governing principles other than his narcissism.  He will fall for whatever "philosophy" is the most recent one he's immersed himself in.  And then, use his massive and undeserved wealth (and thus power) to pursue those goals in the ultimate "look at me!  I'm significant!" display.

No. He would fit right in. They would have made him minister of someshit. The drug use (very Nazi), the multople wives (very Nazi), the need to be adored (very Nazi), the list goes on. He would have had his hunting lands out in Prussia like the rest of them.

Truly the least funny person ever, but he's forced people into building his own feedback loop of fake bot likes so he's only going to get worse. I'd say the collapse will be fun to watch, but we're already at the public Nazi salutes stage and nobody really batted an eyelash so I'm thinking it might not actually be that much fun.
