I think the pain starts this summer. Summer trips cancelled due to higher prices. Savings start to dry up and rents get missed. The trickle up begins.

Northern Virginia will be interesting to watch. Direct or indirect, the economy is tied to the Federal Government.

the horror stories, wildfires, and fiascos coming out of the national parks/forests this summer are gonna be something.

A couple inches of snow in Montreal - THE BEAST!

I figured a EV would run all 4 wheels all the time.  Does that thing have an open differential?  And does it have some kinda nanny granny setting that won't let you rock it?

From reading the thread it appears there's a technical answer that would improve the traction, and that's for the driver to put it into 'snow mode' via the led screen control. Also, some car models that cost less than the swastikar automatically detect snow and switch modes (volvo).

I think the short answer though is the swastikar just sucks.

It's real. I haven't had an account in almost two years, but I googled the phrase with Musk's name and it came up.

Good idea. (just tried it) On Duckduckgo, the first thing that came up was a pravda article where they're very excited about muSSk's statement.

"everyone gerrymanders" is misleading when you consider what's happened to Congress and many state legislatures since about 2010 when Republicans began doing EXTREME gerrymanders in swing states, and which has allowed them to stay in control or at worst competitive in the House and in swing state Legislatures. The Supreme Court, which they control, has allowed extreme gerrymandering.

For example the split in congressional delegation in CA is 43 to 9 because CA passed law requiring fair congressional districts by a non-partisan board. If CA Democrats were able to legally gerrymander they could leave R's with just 1 or 2 seats, at most, in the entire state - if they drew lines as fucking crazy and politically extreme as Texas R's.

So does everyone gerrymander then, or not?

It is a blight on our country. Should be drawn in exactly that way - non partisan.

We've gotten where we are today with Democrats following the rules and acting in good faith at rates far above the "other side." Bang up job it's done for the country.

I don't want things to be the way they are. But it's the way things are regardless.

lolfuckingL. droopy dog lavrov and putin are gonna run a train on the US and Ukraine. Hate those fuckheads all you want, but they are gonna lap up a handful of raging self centered narcissists in a negotiation of any kind. The fucking groundwork is already there and laid bare.

Poor fucking Ukraine

Yeah, it's the complete opposite of the very relatable Bobby Petrino meme.

Texas, North Carolina and Ohio are the three most gerrymandered states. Start there.

Russia: What we want is all of the Ukraine and half of Moldova
Musk: Ok, no problem. Sounds like a deal!
Russia: AND we also want you to pay us reparations for our losses.
Musk: Ok.  That sounds fair...
Russia: AND we also want Luka Doncic.
Musk: Ok, but we will have to throw in Max Christie and 2 first rounders to make the money work.
Russia: DEAL!  Peace at last!

Just to be clear. Everyone gerrymanders. It's a blight on our country.

https://www.vox.com/22961590/redistricting-gerrymandering-house-2022-midterms

>Democrats saved themselves by resorting to a tactic they’ve previously denounced as not only unfair but downright unethical — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi calledgerrymandering “unjust and deeply dangerous” in 2019. But in the absence of national reforms banning the practice, refusing to gerrymander would have meant effective unilateral disarmament, ceding the GOP a significant advantage in the battle for control over the House.

Also keep this in mind every time you see one of the "but it wasn't supposed to hurt the people that voted for him" things posted on FB or Twitter or letters to the editor

Yeah, like a lot of things that were #bothsides or liberal-originated, gerrymandering, "test" civil rights cases, Rs adopted the strategy and turned it to 11.

And then cynically and fraudulently argue that it's fine because the Dems did it first. We've already had one round of concentration camps built off that logic, I'm sure we'll get some bang-up upgrades this go-round

Using Signal, but not twitter.  You'd have to be really fucking stupid at this point to be a federal employee and trying to communicate through twitter.

Wisconsin as well.  Statewide elections typically never deviate more than a couple of percentage points from 50% yet six out of eight US representatives are from Team Treason.

My wife and I moved from FB messenger to Signal years ago before RCS messaging fixed our iOS<->Android messaging woes. Signal is great, easy to use, and works across multiple devices seamlessly

Signal is significantly more secure than FB messenger, android messenger text apps and probably imessage as well.

I can't recommend Signal enough.

It is a blight on our country. Should be drawn in exactly that way - non partisan.

Only one party has advocated for nonpartisan redistricting. And right-wing judges have consistently eradicated campaign election reforms and permitted gerrymandering. In Texas, republicans choose their voters.

Since 2000, rightwingers have used big data and now AI to maximize their party’s stranglehood in states their control the process. Its no longer guesswork.

Yeah the words I couldn't find last night came to me this morning: saying both sides do it is False Equivalence.

But came here to post this about muSSk:

I'm in favor of nobody gerrymandering. As I've said at least twice in the last 24 hours, it's a blight on our country. But don't act like only one side does it. Both do it, one does it more. Both are shitty.

Anyway back to topic at babd

Any of the 3 broadcast news channels could--no, SHOULD--be doing at least a weekly if not nightly fact check on these purported DOGE savings. Just hammer away at the lies constantly. Have 60 Minutes do an expose and reveal their ridiculous math where 2+2= a billion.

Instead, Musk and Co will just keep throwing out fantastically fake numbers that will be repeated over & over. If we're lucky we might get a humorous bit from Jon Stewart or John Oliver.

Truly a Brave New World. What a fucking Orwellian nightmare - the ruling oligarch has a 24/7 shoutbox into literally every pocket in the country by virtue of FCC-mandated emergency messaging systems.

It never ceases to boggle the mind how much an antisocial fucknugget can take useful mechanisms for a healthy society and twist them into another expression of their power over everyone else.
