This fills me with rage. Mark Kelly is a true American hero. Musk is a fucking piece of shit. I don’t know how anyone can justify driving a Tesla or using Starlink.

As soon as I have another option for internet, my Starlink will go immediately in the trash.  But rural people don't have a lot of options, unfortunately.

Fully agree on Tesla.

Try T-Mobile 5G Home Internet, I use it myself and it works about as well as a non-fiber connection can, and I live out in the boonies. Even if they say you're outside the service area, usually they will give you the equipment and let you try if you go into the store.

I didn't.  But I still have rubes all around me. Starlink is the only internet service I can get and I'm not exactly in the boonies. But I am considered rural.

T-Mobile coverage is shit up here.  Had to switch phone service from TMob to Verizon when we moved up here.

James Murdoch dumps $13 million of Tesla shares. At least, that’s what this SEC filing says. He’s one of several insiders who’ve been selling lately, I notice; the chair of Tesla’s board, Elon Musk’s brother, and Tesla’s CFO all dumped tens of millions in shares last month, too. Tesla shares closed today at $222.15, down 41 percent this calendar year. They’re still up about 25 percent from this time last year. It remains unclear whether the continuing Tesla protests have rendered the brand toxic.

I remember when "Anonymous" was a big deal when it came to hackers but they never seemed to do shit that mattered. Hopefully these hackers are actually good and ready to go to war with that piece of shit. Hell at this point if its a foreign enemy who cares the majority in this country has already decided that we want to rebuke or traditional allies and join the modern day axis powers, so hell yeah, take them all down.

Try the Verizon fixed wireless home internet. I tested it out a couple of months ago when I upgraded my phone. Obviously living in urban Austin, I was getting 5G speeds consistently, but I used for a month and it was stable.

I ended up not keeping it only because my Spectrum service was the same price ($45) and usually around 500MB. But Spectrum just raised my price to $75 with no warning so I'm tempted to sign up again. First I'll see if I can get Spectrum to work a deal, because I like using my Verizon cell hotspot feature as a backup in case my home internet goes down.  If my home and cell internet are both Verizon, I have no backup.

Can you have Viasat?

Thats my satellite internet provider for my ranch which is in the middle of nowhere. I was considering switching to Starlink this year but that’s not going to happen now.

how many sieg heils per month does Starlink charge?

Or can you pay in number of vets who will lose healthcare? Or maybe in HIV cases not prevented per month in Africa? How about number of measles deaths per month? Which plan did you choose?

Had an interesting discussion with a former SpaceX engineer today.  He says the satellites that fall out of orbit are too small to avoid burning up completely, so there's no actual "debris" hitting the earth (other than a ton or so worth of smoke).  Take that for what it's worth, which is exactly what you paid for it.

Now, the failed rocket launches, that's a different story, as we've seen.

I'm in a rural area and had viasat for a year or so before I could get starlink. Viasat has horrible ping so doing video calls was basically impossible. Plus it wasn't unlimited data. Starlink is so much better and cheaper. But they are laying fiber down our road right now, so I'll be switching to that as soon as possible.

This is a deal killer for me.  We do a lot of Teams calls.

Look, man, I hate Elon as much as anyone here.  But I have to be able to run my business and he is the only game in town for me right now.  Supposedly there's a fiber company that is coming but that's probably 6-12 months away.

You spent the majority of your adult life dealing with stupid humans. What about that experience would make you think they’ve gotten smarter since you rang the bell?

Pretext to cut Ukraine off from Starlink. It's professional wrestling.

And to add another made up grievance to the pile so that they can claim Ukraine isn’t negotiating in Jeddah and keep support turned off.

Nice.  I'll look into that. Have you used it?  Can it handle Teams/Zoom calls?

I used it for a few weeks but not specifically for Teams/Zoom calls. It handled streaming just fine, but again, I'm right in the middle of austin. Typically download speed using online broadband tests were 250-300mb over a wireless connection to my router. They will give you a 30 day money back guarantee to try it out, so it might be worth it just to know. Setup is ridiculously simple. Plug the router in, and use.

So looking at Elon's family...from People (https://people.com/all-about-elon-musk-children-11678749)

Quote

In 2020, two years after Musk and singer Grimes were first linked, the two announced they welcomed their first child, X Æ A-12, together.

The former couple share two more children, a girl, Exa Dark Sideræl, and a boy, Techno Mechanicus. A few weeks prior to the arrival of their second child, the tech CEO also secretly fathered twins, Strider and Azure, with Shivon Zilis, an executive at one of his companies, Neuralink, in November 2021, according to court documents published by Insider.

Here's everything to know about Elon Musk's 14 children: Nevada, Vivian, Griffin, Kai, Saxon, Damian, X Æ A-12, Exa, Strider, Azure, Techno, Arcadia, Seldon Lycurgus and his child with St. Clair.

shocked holy shit GIF

When I was playing World of Warcraft 20 years ago, Elon Musk must have been in my guild because every one of those names were the names of my guild members.

TSLA topped out at 488 back in Dec. It is now worth less than half of that. Nice work Elmo. I'm sure your shareholders appreciate it. Of course, the board could always do their job and boot his ass from the company.

Lulz.

I have a relative who was bitching about Tesla stock last week.  He could be a shareholder, but probably not, but has defended Leon.

I asked him why didn't he personally buy a Tesla - he just bought a Ford Edge for his wife, and with the package he picked, not too far off from a Tesla. Now the answer is that he only buys Fords (he fucking hates Chevy because Dale Earnhardt, I shit you not), but he tried to ignore it and bitched that liberals were buying Tesla but aren't now.  I asked him if the Ford CEO called him a parasite for collecting Social Security, if he would continue buying Fords, and it was like "well the Ford CEO wouldn't do that" and I just pointed out that the Tesla CEO did call him that.  Yeah, fun times.

About a half-hour ago, I heard about the below post on the Texas Standard as part of their wrap-up with listener comments on their socials.

As somebody with relatives in Oklahoma and who is in Oklahoma at least once a year, they are, or were, pretty fucking proud of how accurate/timely the tornado stuff was getting, and that it was saving livings.  Most of my relatives know somebody who has been affected by a tornado, were themselves affected, or have spent more than one night in a storm cellar because the threat was "near" (not like it is these days where they are drilling down to city neighborhoods practically with predictions).

If they regress in their prediction capability back to the 1990s or earlier, holy fucking shit, a lot of people are going to die during the next outbreak because these days a lot of people will not head to shelter unless the storm chasers or meteorologists show them a radar with a debris ball bearing down on them.

I'm going to laugh, as long as it's not little kids.

They want people to suffer by a massive cessation of government services.  They think that everyone who benefits from government services is "welfare queens" (and we all know what color those welfare queens are).  Turns out, people who depend on weather warnings to survive are also "welfare queens."  Guess they should pull themselves up by their bootstraps and get their own radar and communications connectivity.  Fucking leeches.

There's going to be a huge temptation on my part to say "well, Elon said you all were a bunch of parasites to rely on the government to show you when there's a tornado, so who am I to argue with Mr. Musk. Parasites must be dealt with, and if that means with tornados, then Inshallah."
